Just purchased this Shark model yesterday and used it straight away on my lounge short pile carpet, it has cleaned the grey carpet so well it looks like new!!! The carpet was touch dry in just over an hour and completely dry in 2 hours which I am very impressed with. Love this Shark carpet cleaner after 2 Vax machines which didn’t last too long I am more than happy with my choice of purchase. Highly recommend.
Did you use the quick dry button and thank you for your video I might be going back for it cuz I just bought it and got it yesterday and I'm Ill so I got it from my caregiver
Your demonstration and explanation are very clear, and because of this, I will be buying this product. My only concern is getting additional solution for restocking. Thank you for this
I have a short pile carpet and I feel like its picking up about the same amount of water that it’s putting out. I haven’t measured it yet but it looks close and the carpet does feel pretty dry even after a few wet passes! I have also found that when you do your backwards pass, if you lift up a little while pulling back you get even more suction! I’ve noticed that’s pretty much the same for any other type of carpet scrubbers I’ve tried as well. But so far I’ve also noticed that the solution doesn’t leave ANY residue! Before I bought this one I was using my sisters Bissell Revolution pet pro and I can’t tell you how many times I went over the carpet and how many different solutions/cleaners I used and it still left a waxy-ish residue on my hand and still smelled like pee! I even tried vinegar rinses, plain hot water rinses, and even tried Downy rinse and refresh and I couldn’t get rid of the residue or smell and so far this one is beyond better!
How did you get rid of the residue to then use the shark cleaner ? We have the same problem after using a vax. Carpet has a sticky residue ! But shark is arriving tomorrow x
I'm wondering if the type of carpet doesn't have more to do with the amount of water it absorbs. I'm starting in sections just in case it does take a longer time to dry. 1st up: high traffic by door / & pet 'run off' from missing the potty pad. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE!
My shark carpet cleaner is being delivered today. Thank you for a very thorough demonstration. I have a grey plush carpet as well. If It does not get the carpet drier than I will return mine. By the way I love your accent. Wish I could have seen your face in the video. Thank you Teresa Rose hill North Carolina.
I have this cleaner and it has one fatal floor in it's design, the auto dispense of the fluid means every time you're pushing forward it's dropping more cleaning solution, if you pull back slowly it will suck up way more of the liquid, I have resorted to switching the mode to dry so I can push forward and then back to deep clean as I pull back over the already wet carpet
I don't know if anyone else has suggested this to you or not but I think you got the best results if you do it slowly especially when you're sucking up the water or you're in dry only mode I think that you will find it'll be more dry than if you go over it rather quickly. ❤
I struggled with upright carpet washers with leaving my berber too wet...even with dry pass after dry pass....I think the Hoover models like turbo scrub, power scrub, etc... where the dirty water tank sits almost directly above putting weight down aids in extraction...I can over wet my berber with the Hoover turbo scrub I have and it gets so much water back up....when I was watching this I could tell this is going to be a problem machine with extraction...no matter if it's low pile or high

Thank you for doing this video! 🥰 I chose Shark as Hoover has lost it's #1 status since selling out & moving to Mexico. With 2 pups this winter - I'm looking forward to trying it out! I've loved my other Shark products! 😊Now I feel ready to give it a whirl - so we shall see! 🤨😉
How many passes does this unit need to stop picking up fluid? My Bissell Revolution 2X Pet Pro takes between 10 and 15 passes. My Hoover PowerScrub XL takes about 3, and I attribute that to the weight of the dirty solution tank pushing the head down into the carpet pile. With that machine, the carpet is always dry within a few hours.
I find most of these domestic wet carpet cleaners disappointing on the extraction front, unfortunately. I have the *Vax Platinum Max,* and the wet pickup is rather woeful - on both deep and shallow-pile carpets. I get more extraction by keeping the Vax as upright as possible in pickup mode, and then almost _pressing the body of the machine down into the carpet_ - the weight and pressure driving deeper wet extraction, but I don't really like to do this bc it places extra pressure on the brush roll/spinscrub.
I seldom take free machines to demonstrate and am not sponsored by anyone. I can only give my opinions on the cleaners I demonstrate at the time. Thanks for the feedback, I do try to go into as much detail as I can, though my videos can be a bit long for some viewers.
Looks good but I wasn't 100% convinced so I ordered BISSELL Revolution Hydro Steam steam and carpet washer but amazon saying weeks even through its prime.
@@flybriur I can only comment on my personal experience of a machine I paid for with my own money and comparing it with other carpet washers I’ve bought.
@ibaisaic Completely understand. Wonder if it has to deal with what type of carpet, for example, or if it's something like variations in quality from unit to unit.
After 3 minutes of operation in dry cleaning mode, two blue indicators light up. According to the instructions, this means that the tank is full. It's impossible because I just unpacked the item. The vacuum itself was covered in dust outside as well. am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for sharing this machine with us Roger. I hope you’re well. Interesting machine, but as you have mentioned, a shame that their recommendation of solution isn’t readily available at product launch and that wet extraction is awful. I hope you do not have soggy socks still walking on your lovely carpet!
I went over the carpet multiple times, far more than I showed in the video. Fortunately I managed to sell this machine soon after I filmed the video, albeit at a loss but at least I have a Bissell Big Green Clean Machine to do the job properly.
Hi Roger great demo video, Just wondering if you are aware that there is another version of this cleaner which doesn`t have the stainstriker feature which is a little cheaper do you think this model would be worth considering if you don`t have pets or kids or would it be best to get the slightly more expensive version? thanks for another brilliant video
Yes, I mentioned on Instagram that there were two models of carpet washer and two spot cleaners. The only difference is the base model doesn’t have the extra Oxy solution tank and has less tools, so it may be worth getting for £50 less. I would hold on a bit though as there are bound to be offers on these machines very soon.
The best one I have used is the Bissell Big Green Clean Machine but it is expensive and heavy. The next best choice in my opinion would be the Bissell ProHeat 2x Revolution Pet Pro.
@@ibaisaic Thank you for your review of the Shark, and for answering the question of what cleaner was the best. You seem very thorough and knowledgeable, and I appreciate that. I will check out your other videos to see what else you review, especially the two Bissell's you mentioned.
#ibaisais# I would have tried a different carpet cleaner to see if it could pick up more water than the shark. Would have been a great way to tell how the shark directly compared with another top brand cleaner. P.s love your videos.
I did, but I had to cut a lot out of the video as it would have been over an hour long. I went over with my Rug Doctor and it only managed to remove about a teaspoon of water after going over the area multiple times.
@@ibaisaic thanks for the reply, at least we now know that the shark performs similarly to other carpet cleaners in that range. I was just unsure as you seemed not convinced about how much water the shark managed to pick up in dry mode.
I’m glad to hear this too cause I’m a huge Shark fan and was so excited when I heard about this machine. I just became a bit apprehensive about getting one after seeing this review but I guess not now. I’ll try to purchase from a seller that allows returns so I can still have the option to return if I don’t end up liking it for some reason.
Got this for my parents, but kinda wish I had seen your review first! I know you were keen to use their liquids, but could I please ask what the recommendations were for cheaper alternatives, given that they're two separate products used? Thank you.
You may invalidate the warranty if you use other solutions but if you do, you can use any low foaming solution designed for carpet washers as long as you dilute it according to the instructions on the bottle. Bissell make an Oxygen based stain remover that could be used in the small tank on the Shark, but it probably costs as much as the Shark solution. Personally I would use the solution recommended by the manufacturer.
In your opinion do you think the George is better then this, because I have a George but it’s not been used since 2013 and I’m thinking of maybe getting this shark one but not sure yet.
The solution was not available when I filmed this video. I sold this Shark a week after I filmed this as I own far better carpet cleaners than this one.
Interesting! I do agree, water pickup is pretty bad by the looks of things. I don’t think it’s the worst water pickup I’ve seen. I’d be curious to compare the water pickup to a Rainbow SRX. From my understanding, the SRX has the absolute worst, as when they demoed it in my home I ran over their area with my big green and had just shy of 1/2 a litre of water in my tank to which the SRX missed.

I can see in the video this guy is stopping while there is still liquid in the carpet. You can see liquid coming up the head!! My experience this sucks up enough liquid for 1 hour dry time (with fan).
I didn’t film every second I used this machine. I went over countless times with it to extract as much water as I could. Your experience differs from mine because you don’t have the same carpets as me. I sold this at a loss as soon as I finished filming the video because I have two carpet washers that are far superior in every way to this Shark.
It looks like it’s cleaned well enough, the water retention would be problematic for me, we have deep pile carpets, best carpet washer I’ve owned and used is a Vax Duo (I think they call it platinum now) we had cylinder carpet washer, vax Rapide and a Bissell upright, the Vax duo is fairly easy to push and dries carpet’s to being touch dry in just over an hour, the shark would be an interesting comparison.. good video as always Roger.
You will see where the brush heads go if you watch my unboxing video. You can only store one of the brush heads on the machine with the other fitted to the end of the hose. The self clean tool clips on the handle.
Hi roger, id be interested to see how it compares on different carpets, your lounge is a gery deep pile one. Id also be interested in your recommendation on which carpet washer you would recommend
Unfortunately the best one I have used is the most expensive, The Bissell Big Green, or you could look at the cheaper Bissell ProHeat Revolution. I have reviewed both on my channel.
I’m a Numatic geek right now and I don’t like shark vacuums just Henry vacuums. I also miss Numatic week with all the smiles from all of the Numatic vacuums
The carpet was dry the morning after. It certainly looks cleaner and feels softer somehow. I may go over it in a few days with just water in the tank and one wet pass to give the carpet a rinse.
Thanks for this. I love my Shark vacuums and might have bee tempted to get this. But it looks bulky and cumbersome and poor at sucking up water. Far inferior to my Bissell carpet shampooer.
As he said at 27:25 its not big and bulky. It feels like using a normal shark vacuum. Suction for him wasnt great. For me i am very happy with it. In another comment he said he went over the carpet after with his rug doctor and only got about another tablespoon.
Purchased this machine. It worked for about a minute. Then I had no suction. Thought maybe it was me, cleaned the machine and waited. Tried again. No suction. Got frustrated, waited til I calmed down 2 weeks later, No suction. Everything on it is such cheap plastic you are afraid to touch it almost. Trying to get to customer service to return a call is also a HUGE frustration with no results so far. Trying to return this carpet cleaner.
Is there a way of cleaning the machines pipes etc… I’ve had a rug dr spot cleaner for 12 months and have a dog and it smells so bad. I’ve used a water and white vinegar solution to suck through the pipes but still it’s whiffy. I just wondered if this shark one had a function to clean the machine
Hmmm this review goes against many of the others that I have watched that place this as the current vest carpet washer, with the most suction measured (by some way) and some of the best cleaning. Not quite sure what to think now. 😐
I have used dozens of carpet washers and I wasn’t impressed with this Shark. The best model I have used and always get out for a thorough clean is the Bissell Big Green. The build quality of the Shark isn’t great and I feel that the hose will eventually spilt due to the way it is tightly wound on the machine. I paid for the Shark myself and can only give my opinions based on my experience of using other machines. This model may be better on shorter pile carpets, but on my particular carpet it wasn’t great at removing the dirty water, especially when I compare it to other models I have used. I personally wouldn’t recommend this Shark and sold mine soon after I filmed this video, but it’s your money, so you choose what you want to buy based on the reviews you’ve seen.
@@ibaisaic I always love your reviews. We were debating between this Shark, the Vax Platinum Power Max and the Vax Platinum Smartwash. However you don't seem to have reviewed the Smartwash? Is there any chance you might do that in the future?
I wouldn’t recommend any of those. I have no plans on buying another Vax as they are among the worst for build quality and reliability in my experience. If you can’t justify the cost of the Bissell Big Green, I would go for the Bissell Revolution 2X.
@@ibaisaic Thank you! We were looking at that one too, though I had heard that it can leave carpets very wet. Still haven't decided yet, we have a really old Vax Rapide that needs replacing. I have been looking at as many video reviews as possible, but I do enjoy yours!
If it's not _fit for purpose,_ you're absolutely entitled to your money back, Roger. It doesn't have to be faulty as in broken or bits missing, just not performing as advertised for you to be covered under UK Consumer Rights Legislation - and that's for up to six years, btw - doesn't matter what the warranty or anything else says, or what the retailer has tried to palm you off with. *You are protected.* Unscrupulous retailers just hope consumers aren't _aware_ of their rights, and frequently mistreat customers as a result, sadly.
I've just had my vax platinum pretty much go up in smoke at 22 months old, I had forgot to register the warranty now they say I'm not covered.. But am I? What is your advice here please?
Not good at sucking up water: That means all that dirty water is in the carpet and will dry with the dirt. Its a good idea to do a rinse with only water and do dry passes.
Many, many dry passes were done with this cleaner and it still left my carpet wet. I rinsed the carpet after the video using my Bissell Big Green Clean machine.
This operator has been using carpet washers since the early 80’s and knows what he’s doing. Compared to many carpet washers I’ve shown on my channel, this one is one of the worst in my experience.
i prefer to prespray and manually brush agitate carpets like the professional carpet guys do , then use the shampooer to rinse and suction out the dirty prespray.
I had to cut a lot out of this video as it ran for over an hour, but one section featured me using my Rug Doctor over the same area of carpet to see if it could pull more water up and it barely managed a teaspoon.
Foam backed carpet pads and ultra plush fibers will suck up water really fast and hold it deep in the carpet. Most store bought shampooers can't work with this as they don;t seal to the carpet and extract that deep. Most carpet shampooers today are for people with nylon back carpeting with basic padding and standard pile, or area rugs. Hence the small tank size and low pickup ability. You have to understand how many people do not have wall to wall carpet in their homes anymore - companies are not going to make a product for a market that does not exist. That's why you see so many vacuums now with tiny bag chambers, and so many stick vacs. People all have wood floors and throw rugs like its the 1910's again. @@ibaisaic
I'm sure it is, and I'm sure people do have wall to wall carpeting, but here in the USA it is not and its becoming increasingly rare. The design trend is to rip it all out and lay down a rubberized fake-wood floor. My house included (I ripped out all mine because the original flooring from 1949 was underneath) Also I funnily enough just seen this on TV at 5am. I watched the whole infomercial - they used all of it on area rugs, no actual real carpet. @@ibaisaic
Unfortunately I don’t live in a pig sty so I don’t get stains on my carpets as I have appliances to deal with them. This Shark was sold soon after the video was filmed as I have used many better cleaners than this one.
I am so over the Shark vacuums and the Dyson vacuum. It's not even funny I wish Hoover would come back to the United States to make heavy-duty vacuum like they used to from the 70s and 80s. I've now started going toward Sebo vacuum
Most of the passes were done in dry only mode to try and remove the solution from the carpet. If you saw my home behind the camera you would know that I don’t have OCD in any form. I got rid of this awful carpet washer as soon as I finished filming the video. I will stick to my Bissell Big Green Clean Machine when I want to give my carpets a proper clean.
You are being too critical and unrealistic about extracting all the water out of the carpet. I own this machine and love it. I had my carpets cleaned so called professionally and my carpets were wetter than this machine. But you did a great job demonstrating how to use this machine.
I know that all carpet washers leave water in the carpet and I have used a lot of different models to compare this Shark with. My carpet was still damp the next day after using this model, but when I use my Bissell Big Green Clean Machine, the carpet is normally dry within a few hours and certainly fully dry the next day.
Roger, thank you so much for your review. I'm desperate to get a good machine, I wasted money already with a swan machine, my carpets are a nightmare to keep clean! What machine would you recommend, we don't have underlay in our place, the carpet isn’t made with a good quality fabric either 🥲 what would you recommend please

I used this carpet cleaner over the weekend (borrowed from a friend) I feel this is a very accurate and honest review.
The machine shutting itself off when suction is cut off is a genius idea, that will come in handy if the hose or nozzle is clogged

Really nice video, but I eonder how much could dyson gen5 pick after such vacumming before washing the carpet
Less than the Sebo I used.
@@ibaisaic thank you very much.
In your opinion do you think the George is better then this, because I have a George but it’s not been used since 2013 and I’m thinking of maybe getting this shark one but not sure yet.
You really should update this review.
I was able to purchase more solution off Amazon.
The solution was not available when I filmed this video. I sold this Shark a week after I filmed this as I own far better carpet cleaners than this one.
@@ibaisaic what a snooty reply.
@@dragonflysdiscoveries7567 It’s a truthful reply.
Is carpet cleaner good to buy
Good video it cleans good I got one just pick water more times wife love it😂😂
That is a great carpet cleaner that Shark has made
Interesting!
Blimey. That's not good...
Before I bought this one I was using my sisters Bissell Revolution pet pro and I can’t tell you how many times I went over the carpet and how many different solutions/cleaners I used and it still left a waxy-ish on my hand and still smelled like pee! I even tried vinegar rinses, plain hot water rinses, and even tried Downy rinse and refresh and I couldn’t get rid of the residue or smell and so far this one is beyond better!
Where do the extra tools go when not in use i csnt fond anywhere for 2 brush heads
You will see where the brush heads go if you watch my unboxing video. You can only store one of the brush heads on the machine with the other fitted to the end of the hose. The self clean tool clips on the handle.
Just got mine but water keep leaking underneath it and I don't know why
Hi roger, id be interested to see how it compares on different carpets, your lounge is a gery deep pile one. Id also be interested in your recommendation on which carpet washer you would recommend
Just purchased it yesterday
Wow.. I was going to buy one, what carpet cleaner do you recommend.
Unfortunately the best one I have used is the most expensive, The Bissell Big Green, or you could look at the cheaper Bissell ProHeat Revolution. I have reviewed both on my channel.
I came here to check if there's a short delay in turning off the machine. Thought there was a fault with mine lol.
I’m a Numatic geek right now and I don’t like shark vacuums just Henry vacuums. I also miss Numatic week with all the smiles from all of the Numatic vacuums
I'm curious as to what your comments are 24hrs after your demo and how long it took to dry
The carpet was dry the morning after. It certainly looks cleaner and feels softer somehow. I may go over it in a few days with just water in the tank and one wet pass to give the carpet a rinse.
@@ibaisaic thanks Roger! I've been considering purchasing one here in the US. It's always good to have an non-biased objective opinion.
FYI: US customers - Googled the cleaning solutions & found on Home Depot & a couple others. Jun 2024
I've been on sharks website looking and the model down from this machine and found a accessories tab and there was a 1.42L bottle of solution
The solution was just made available on the UK website yesterday. I have ordered two bottles of the regular solution.
Mine is not suctioning any water in the dirty water tank?? Any suggestions?
Check the front nozzle is properly located, the dirty water tank is fitted correctly and that all the rubber seals are in place.
I'm not getting any dirty water in my dirty water tank when I shampoo and pull back to dry.
Check you’re using it in the correct mode and make sure the dirty water tank and front nozzle are properly located.
Love it ..
You should try and do a suction test
Thank you 😊
Sure this Shark didn't do very well, but you have to admit that carpet looks perfectly clean at 20:53
No where near as clean or dry as my Bissell Big Green Clean Machine leaves it.
I think it needs a bigger waste tank to suck up more water.
Oof 😢sad to see the water extraction was not good.
Yes, this model comes with a hose clean out tool that allows you to rinse the hose.
For once a different motor on the shark
It's heavy a d I don't like the fact I can't clean my stairs steps drying time over night
Looks good but the water extraction is awful, will stick with my trusty Bissell Pro Heat Revolution X2
Just purchased it and had the same experience. It’s going back to Costco
if its leaving all that dirty water in your carpet it cant be good. that solutions better be an encapsulation type considering.
*You are protected.*
Unscrupulous retailers just hope consumers aren't _aware_ of their rights, and frequently mistreat customers as a result, sadly.
Bissell still better looking like crosswave
Havnt had any water issues like people say theyre having. I think it deppends on the operator imo
Oh dear, on the dirty water extraction...
@@ibaisaic
In the UK, wall to wall carpet is still very popular.
Is it just that infamous carpet of yours holding onto the water?@@ibaisaic
I'm sure it is, and I'm sure people do have wall to wall carpeting, but here in the USA it is not and its becoming increasingly rare. The design trend is to rip it all out and lay down a rubberized fake-wood floor. My house included (I ripped out all mine because the original flooring from 1949 was underneath) Also I funnily enough just seen this on TV at 5am. I watched the whole infomercial - they used all of it on area rugs, no actual real carpet. @@ibaisaic
This machine looks similar to the vax smartwash a trigger less machine
I wished your carpet had a little more stains. It doesn't look very diry to begin with.
Unfortunately I don’t live in a pig sty so I don’t get stains on my carpets as I have appliances to deal with them. This Shark was sold soon after the video was filmed as I have used many better cleaners than this one.
Personally they should just bring back the Sonic Duo
I am so over the Shark vacuums and the Dyson vacuum. It's not even funny I wish Hoover would come back to the United States to make heavy-duty vacuum like they used to from the 70s and 80s. I've now started going toward Sebo vacuum
So I bet this brushroll is not removable either is it.
You have lost the bet, the brushroll lifts out without tools. I show how the parts can be removed for cleaning in the first video I uploaded.
@ibaisaic well now I'm surprised. Now, why couldn't they do this with the vacuum cleaners.
I believe their latest cordless has a removable brushroll. I hope to show that on my channel soon.
Shark vacuum brushrolls are removable, not sure where you got the idea that it isn't? @@ThePrime206
I have one also
I got mine at Costco.
doesn't sound the smoothest
Thanks for the review very unbias. Think i'll pass on that shark.
Get a Bissell instead.
You did too many passes. Bc the unit doesn’t allow you to control the spray multiple passes are too much. You have OCD
Most of the passes were done in dry only mode to try and remove the solution from the carpet. If you saw my home behind the camera you would know that I don’t have OCD in any form. I got rid of this awful carpet washer as soon as I finished filming the video. I will stick to my Bissell Big Green Clean Machine when I want to give my carpets a proper clean.
what are you trying to clean the colour of the carpet? I would’ve had my dinner off your carpet before you cleaned it. 😂😂😂😂
They look pretty rubbish of a machine doesnt look like its doing anything. Good video
To much watching _ou vacumm😢
You do know you can fast forward videos on RUclips I assume?
Hello there! Please keep the vacuum cleaner sound. Some of us are weird & prefer to hear it instead of the music
Anybody who knows anything about Sharks knew the outcome of this video. We all knew exactly how it would sound and that it would perform horribly.
Been using shark products for years and never had any problems with them. Maintenance is key.
Have you ever taken one apart? If not, then you don't know enough about it and it's intentional design flaws.
@@VacuumReviews Just speaking from personal experience. Gone through a plethora of household cleaning items, shark have been the most reliable.
Yes what would you recommend?
He said in an earlier comment his first pick is the Bissell Big Green Clean Machine, however it is expensive and heavy. His second choice was the Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution Pet Pro.
