All these remakes of classic sets have been absolute heaters, like every one is a 10/10. We definitely need more of these
GE was the only one I can afford; Just can't justify 215 (let alone the castle's 400) dollars for a theme Im only mildly interested in. Wish some of those fomo sets were retail

Man the classic pirates of the Caribbean ride theme song hits hard! Especially when you've been on the ride!
Would love if they made a little “battle pack” of soldiers or pirates to go along this set. This is such a great lego set

if u want more soldiers u can order their parts off pick a brick for fairly decent costs
i think a comparison of the old and new one would be great to see if the old one still holds up!

Man, I have the original version that I received as a birthday gift in 1991 just before I started Kindergarten. I still have it, I'm going to watch this with my kids to try to convince them to build it with me.

These re-makes of old sets from the 80’s and 90’s should really be a theme called "Legacy"
Facts
Newer fans don’t know how huge pirates was for Lego as a theme in the late 80s early 90s. Staved off the decline of the late 90s early 2000s that was then saved by bionicle and Star Wars (although lego western was absolute heat and doesn’t get the credit it deserves)
It's a good set for the price tag, and great for adults who owned (or wanted) the original back in the day

Surprised he didn’t mention that the ship was not in the original Eldorado fortress, but it is in this set as a callback to the other big imperial set at the time, set 6277 Imperial Trading Post! :)
I do miss the old pirate and soldier sets because it was cool getting alot of them to fight against each other
I’m normally only a Star Wars collector but I’m now highly considering this set

@@mrneb5481 Totally noticed it too. I was just terrified to point it out myself. I remember when the images for the Hoth minifigure pack came out Ryan casually noted that he didn’t remember seeing any female troops in the trenches and had to issue an apology afterwards. People are just dumb. 🤦🏻♂️
I will point out there actually WAS a female knight in 2002’s knight’s kingdom, there was also a female pirate in the 90s, and another one in 2009, and another in 2015, the female pirates in Lego aren’t new, ( admittedly the female soldiers kinda are )

Just bought this one recently, and I absolutely love it. I was a 2000's kid, but I really preferred the 80's and 90's castle, pirates and town sets over what was avaliable at the time, though it kinda sucked since I couldn't get my hand on old sets as I was still a kid that didn't understand how ebay worked lol. This one is like a blast from the past and I'm so happy they are doing these remakes of old sets. Hope they really start doing them more frequently though.

Picked it up on Saturday last week. Can’t wait to get it built and put it next to the original. So glad I still have all my original 1989 pirate sets from when they were new.

1:14 not to be a history nerd (I am) but those 3 soldiers have shakos, the 2 gals have tricorns, and the admiral has a bicorne

My son just built this for his Birthday. Absolutely awesome set. Great review. He’s got it setup in the long format with the creator ship and it looks great on a shelf. Lots of hidden details throughout.

I almost bit on this with an extra Republic Fighter Tank to get that House of the World 3 GWP but I'm holding off for x2 points or better GWPs. Sep-Dec most likely. It'll be awesome next to Barracuda Bay.

Love this. Will have to pick this one up. The cannons are awesome. When I was a kid the LEGO cannons didn’t have that firing feature yet. So me and my neighbor would build castles or forts and then take the cannons and stick a firecracker in them and loosely put a tinfoil ball in the cannon and when the firecracker went off it would shoot the tin foil cannon ball at the castle walls. It was tons of fun. Surprisingly the cannons held up and didn’t just blow up from the fire crackers.

Nice retro, I remember having those minifigs in Lego set from 90s I got from my brother. Lego 6270 Forbidden Island it was 🏝️
It is a really nice set. I love the cloth sails and smooth hull of the little ship. Also the imperial minifigures look good with their triangle hats and blue white uniforms.

You know the Lego set is gold when a diehard Lego SW fan takes a holiday from fantasy space to the ocean :).
I recently built this set also and was very impressed, minus the Capt's cramped and underwhelming tower room, plus weak Bluecoat figure quality. How the Bluecoats from 30 years ago somehow have better printing is bonkers! The small ship is a very nice inclusion though.
The price is tad wee bit on the high side, but you can bet your uncle will increase in value and be desirable just like Baracuda Bay.
I might get my hands on it tomorrow.

Just gonna say... only seeing 3 comments, and people are saying "nice it's not a SW video", I get. But I only collect and now sell Lego Star Wars. I respect you have the knowledge of Lego SW, but this is an amazing feat, considering he gets no help from Lego or RUclips for all this effort. Time is more valuable then the cloth and life in your body. Keep that true when you hit your mark! Thanks for you time and your video my man!! (and sorry for my rambling) hahaha

LOVE THIS SET!!! Just as amazing as the lion knights castle and barracuda bay, which feel like they’ve been made with the same level of care which I love to see and hope makes its way into lego star wars eventually 🤞🤞🤞

The set is wonderful, but I worked out what is NQR (not quite right) about it. There is not enough yellow pieces. Compare it with the 1989 version. I will be adding more yellow to mine. Maybe one extra row all around it.
Really awesome Non Star Wars Review! I have the original set and I have been thinking about getting this one to combine them into one large fortress! That would be a good alternative build I would like to see where you combine two of these to make a massive fortress!

What took so long J/K, This is the set that made me re-evaluate what I collect as far as Lego . I went to Atalanta Brick Co. and traded all My Star Wars and other themes and traded for all Vintage Pirates. So anyway now I collect only Pirates/ Castle , maybe Lotr we must see what direction they head.

Amatuer historian here; the hats on the soldiers I believe are Shakos, and the women ones have tricorn while the admiral has a hat that leaders would have (look at Napoleon for instance). To me, this seems like Lego took liberty; the tricorn hat was more common in the 1700s whereas Shako hats with ball/plume seem more common in the 1800s. Most of my knowledge is on the World War era, but like I said I'm an amateur.
Anyhow, the fact that women soldiers are present doesn't necessarily matter, since some women did join in that timeframe, though they'd have to cut their hair and dress like a man- think of Deborah Samson from the American Revolution.
