I watched a documentary two weeks ago about auto tune. They put in Elvis voice and the machine couldn’t follow his range. They deemed him unable to auto tune. Judy garland was another.
ELVIS is the King because he was the first to do it all on that level... Period... Huge sales... controversy... Scandals... He was drafted into the army at the height of his fame... many believe because he posed such a threat to america etc... But he just went along like a good clean cut all american boy and served his time... Movies... Sided with civil activism... Criticism for all he did... He had his entourage called the Memphis Mafia... Had huge mega elaborate stages... Wardrobes and bling... Drugs ... Women... World tours... He was even the very first to be broadcasted to millions worldwide through satellite on tv ..... ELVIS paved the way for EVERYTHING that we know a "star" is today.....
Elvis's timing of how to captivate his audience live or televised was impeccably displayed always. That's why he is undoubtedly called the master of his craft, and the King of Rock and Roll. He is the definition of an entertainer.
Muhammad Ali Said "When I Heard Elvis Sing "Don't Be Cruel "I Couldn't Stop Bopping Around ". Nice To Know Elvis And Ali Became Great Friends Over The Years.
This was the above the waist only time and no moving anywhere, he let go at the end tho. This is the shy young Elvis, he was enjoying everything it was all new and exciting, roll on 20 years....
Soo humble.when ppl called him ( the king) he said -no,GOD IS THE KING-but elvis was the king … of rock n roll! For sure! Went out of his way to help ppl he didnt know. Dan,north fl -4/07/22.
Elvis was definitely an artist ahead of his time. I enjoyed yalls reaction to this son, one of my favorites. Also thats a beautiful baby yall got there.
First of all I have to say ur little girl is adorable 💕 Elvis has so many songs its so hard to pick a favorite love watching his performances always gives me goosebumps 😊😊
Loved your reaction! There were actually several variety shows on tv back in the day that featured lots of different entertainers, and The Ed Sullivan Show was the biggest of them all. Even though this is the show that really catapulted Elvis' career, he wasn't the first to perform on this type of show. Popular opinion is that they only filmed Elvis from the waist up on the 11 tv show appearances he did. Actually, he appeared 10 times on 4 different shows in 1956. And it was only on his last performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in early 1957 that he was filmed from the waist up.
I love this video how many people do you know says thank you for buying his records and they only filmed waist up but watch what he does at the end he cannot be still that's what makes him so great
This is from his last performance on Ed Sullivan. He is moving his hand alont (toward end) because they refused to film his whole body ( waist down was cut) because critics thought his hip movements were to sexual.
Elvis was always nervous (scared) before every performance. He never felt he’d live up to his fans expectations. He wanted to give them everything his body and mind could. Completely. A truly great man encouraged by his faith.
When Elvis performed this on the Ed Sullivan Show, the network would not let the cameras show below his waist because they considered his dancing to be lewd. And keep in mind, the Ed Sullivan Show was aired live.. not pre-recorded. Elvis broke all kinds of barriers by introducing Black influence into "white America's" Rock n Roll back in the 50's. My Mom grew up in the 50's and saw Elvis live several times when he toured with the Louisiana Hayride.
This was 2 days before his 22nd birthday. It was the last of his 3 appearances on the Ed Sullivan’s show Jan 1957. 1956 was his 1st yr of National fame. There had been many other singers on TV in the past, but they weren’t like Elvis. Elvis released his first RCA song, Heartbreak Hotel in Jan. 1956, and by April 6th he already had a lucrative movie deal, and his first movie was released in Nov 56. He had so many #1 hits in 1956. It was his voice, delivery and looks that made him the King. Those first 2 yrs, he caused a lot of controversy with adults, who thought he was just too sexy and some said he was vulgar. Kids, teens and young adults thought he was the best thing ever.
He laughed because of the screaming - it took him a few years to get used to that. I also saw a quote by him where ge said when he saw all the gold and platinum records on the wall, he still couldn’t believe it was for him.
I loved your reaction please keep them coming. PLEASE I recommend you react to (Elvis and the black community that echo will never die) it will answer a lot of questions. You won’t regret it!!
@Demochets- Great Elvis song guys. He was around 21 here. He was preforming Don't be Cruel on Ed Sullivan show and he told his people not to film him from the wastes down just because he moved his hips. It was a joke but that was considered Controversial back then. His backup group here was his first backup group called The Jordaniares. He would eventually switch to The sweet Inspirations led by Whitney Houston's mom Cisy Houston but that wouldn't be until around 69. Please Please react to Elvis and The Black Community. It is really great and will give you an understanding why Elvis was so close to black people.
I remembered Ed Sullivan commenting to Elvis when he was done singing, and Elvis is welcomed to come back. Back then Ed Sullivan's show was wannabe's performers make it big in entertainment business. He had that power. Another man came close to Ed in power was Johnny Carson.
When he started out he was extremely shy, he had trouble fitting in throughout his entire youth, after a year on the road he became an incredible and sincere showman. If you want to react to someone from that era who was NEVER shy or humble a day I’m his life try Jerry Lee Lewis’s first television appearance on the Steve Allen show doing ‘Whole lotta’ Shakin goin’ On’
What you missed maybe is that when he picked it up the cameras stayed focused on his upper half because the FCC had ruled that showing him below the waist was obscene and not allowed to be on television without risking losing the broadcast license for the station. This put the broadcasters in a bind. They wanted Elvis because the viewing audiences were HUGE and that meant that advertisers, who paid by the view would cough up the big dough. So, although there was a lot of pressure to keep him off of television entirely, they resisted because he was a cash cow and the compromise that was reached (for awhile) was to only show the top half. The audience, though, reacts with screams to his dancing. It was just dancing, with a lot of the moves learned from Little Richard. Sexy as. White folk didn't want their kids exposed to actual life, though. The kids themselves, though, were like, "Expose me, please!" Love y'all. I shared the video on twitter. Everyone please click like and comment. It makes the algorithm a lot more likely to share this video to others because RUclips likes engagement. Help this channel grow. You don't have to wait for RUclips to share the video, though, you can do it. If you are on other media, blast this shit. This channel is the shiznitz.
No one knew what auto tune was.he had a vocal range that was unmatched..In studio they did retakes till they got it right ..no mixing no matching .pure vocals.
It's a shame we can't see what he's doing with his hips and legs but they only filmed him from the waist up. If you haven't reacted yet, there's a slightly older one from earlier that year in black and white where he does hound dog on the Milton Berle show and now you get to see his dance moves at the time or at least some of them.
Elvis had to restrain his natural instinct for dancing when he was on TV as it was considered obscene. When he was on TV they'd only show him from the waist up. There's video out there now showing his full body in those performances. Michael Jackson loved Elvis and used some of his moves. For example Michael's move during Billy Jean where he's on his toes.
If you notice in this video these are the younger years where they would only film him from the waist up. Then what they would do in movies you can see him holding himself to not gyrate his lower body.. 😂
This is 1956 and that's really, really early for rock music. Even Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode" is two years in the future. This year, 1956, Carl Perkins has "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Honey Don't," both of which are fabulous. If you go back further in time, in 1951 Ike Turner and Jackie Brenston have "Rocket 88," which some people consider the first rock song. You can go back even further to 1946 and Arthur Crudup has "That's Alright Mama," which is very close to rock. These are the people who invented rock.
Arthur Crudup an interesting one to dissect because even though he was one of Elvis's big influences, Arthur himself thought that Elvis' version was vastly different from his own. - "Elvis's version was different from mine, he mixed Blues with hillbilly. I liked it. Everybody liked it." - (from 1969 interview) He basically was giving voice to what many others from that era had said that sort of set Elvis apart. Arthur was stating precisely what Elvis was good for doing ...taking old blues songs and revamping them in a way that made them different than the originals. Something else interesting about Arthur Crudup is he himself borrowed so heavily from Blues Legends before him- like Big Bill Broonzy for example - that in all sincerity we can't talk about Arthur Crudup without giving a nod to some of those Others that Arthur himself owed much of his music to. And interesting enough Elvis also mentioned Big Bill Broonzy in one interview as another influence. So Big Bill influenced BOTH Arthur ... and then later Elvis. The cross-connections are interesting and almost endless the more we dig
Auto tune didn't show up until around 1997 or 1998 I believe.. Most of your singers back then grew up singing in church or sang at home. Singing was a form of entertainment at home on Sundays. They encouraged the children to sing. Just like they taught us to dance. Although we learn our own type of dances on our own.
Auto tune wasnt around in those days...just you & the mic.... no room for ANY mistakes...he saw from the get go how to be in touch with his fans coz he saw himself as just a regular guy who owed his gift to God. He wasnt allowed to move much on tv...seen as demonic!!!!
He was not to dance at all they filmed him for the waste up. Because some people were hateful idiot and give him pure hell. That way Elvis said OK boys and started dancing and when they finished they all walked off the stage .
There was no autotune back then. It's pure raw talent! He was filmed from the waist up because older people thought his moves were vulgar!
What beautiful baby! God bless! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I watched a documentary two weeks ago about auto tune. They put in Elvis voice and the machine couldn’t follow his range. They deemed him unable to auto tune. Judy garland was another.
Did you watch wings of pegasis..that who I saw try to auto tune Elvis..
@@Joyce-Barker I couldn’t tell you what it was.

The King "cut and past" just with the versatility of his voice...🤔When there was no computer (technology) AWESOME 💯👍👏

His charisma is out of this world. He knows how to hype the girls.
Off stage Elvis was shy and humble, but when he got on stage he owned it. He was a true performer.
Elvis is so Cool .

Believe it or not Elvis was very shy...love me some Elvis 🔥❤..thank you for your reactions ❤
There was no auto tune until 40 yrs after this. This is Just a perfect performance from the King 👑
Love Elvis
You should react to Suspicious minds from Elvis Presley it’s one of his best songs
That song was Mohamed Ali s favorite song they were friends. They would only film Elvis from the waist up.
This is from his last performance on Ed Sullivan. He is moving his hand alont (toward end) because they refused to film his whole body ( waist down was cut) because critics thought his hip movements were to sexual.
Hard to believe that nice young man was considered a threat to America's youth.
In the early days Elvis was only shown from the waist up on TV, considered to provocative for the public to see.
This was the last performance on the Ed Sullivan show where he was filmed from the waist up .
The new film on him will be fantastic
Elvis was always nervous (scared) before every performance. He never felt he’d live up to his fans expectations. He wanted to give them everything his body and mind could. Completely. A truly great man encouraged by his faith.

Very NICE reaction 👌 😄 🎼🎙🎼
Your baby is beautiful!! They couldn't show him waist down!
Thanks, guys, When we watch Elvis live we never know what's he's going to do. Like he did there with his eyebrow. He always likes to joke about.
He laughed because of the screaming - it took him a few years to get used to that. I also saw a quote by him where ge said when he saw all the gold and platinum records on the wall, he still couldn’t believe it was for him.
He was also the first to incorporate a drummer into his songs onstage. It was a big deal at the time.
His band mates said he was fearless with his voice. He never doubted he could grab a bite if he wanted it.
You guys are such a pretty family. 💙

Baby was loving it also.
He is a soul boy
This was when the TV shows would only show him from the waist up.
They filmed him only from the waist up. They called him vulgar for gyrating his hips
Could you react to "reddy teddy" by Elvis from the same time , he is on fire on that one !!
That's a beautiful baby you have.

His style and voice was influenced by Roy Hamilton (African-American singer and good friend)
He was 21 yes old. Best in his 30’s. My opinion of course lol ❤️
Neat stuff..... Filmed from the waist up.

Love Elvis in the 50's. There was none like the King. React to Elvis and Frank Sinatra singing togethet
We'll check it out. Be sure your bell is on!
Do any song from his "68" come back special in his black leather outfit, it is awesome.
He probably would have moved more but was filmed above the waist for a reason.
Have y’all watched “Elvis And The Black Community: The Echo Will Never Die.” I beg y’all to! It’s so good.

They didn't want him to be great.
HAD NO AUTO-TONE IN THE 50's

Elvis WAS auto-tuned ... In utero
autotune was created in 1997...
They wouldn't show him below waist cause bk then it was vulgar to them. Lol
Cause it was sensored
