I love watching these live versions of Elvis back in the early days. This was performed on the "Ed Sullivan" show in 1957. Many times you will see the backup quartet singers called "The Jordanaires" with him. They performed with Elvis in live appearances, on his recordings & in his films in the 50's-70's. Elvis' movements were considered scandalous to show on TV. Some shows only filmed him from the waist up.
Watching old clips from the fifties where the artists are actually performing rather than lip syncing are a real treat. Elvis Presley took "Don't Be Cruel" to number one in the charts in 1956. It was one of my mother's favorite songs and she used to play it all the time when I was a kid in the seventies and we would dance around the house in our socks goofing like we were Elvis. I remember the day Elvis died. My aunt came over to cry about it with my mom, but I was too young to understand what the fuss was about. His biggest selling single was "It's Now or Never" from 1960. You haven't reacted to that one yet, Fay. I checked. Here's a list of some Elvis classics you haven't reacted to yet: "Love Me Tender", "That's All Right", "Jailhouse Rock", "Blue Moon", "Are You Lonesome Tonight", "Mystery Train", "All Shook Up", "Little Sister", "Return To Sender", "(You're so Square) Baby I Don't Care" ...
This was the first record I bought as a newly-turned 11 year old in '56." (You Ain't Nothin' But a) Hound Dog",,another #1 hit, was on the other side. 45 rpm records, as well as the 33 rpm LPs, were still fairly new at that time, having taken over from the old 78 rpm disc's. I still haveit in it's original b&w cover, although it's sound quality is somewhat diminished from having been played thousands of times. Probably worth a little something to an avid collector, but will most likely hold onto it just for it's sentimental value. Wish I could go back to those days.
Elvis was and will always be the best
For sex appeal though Tom Jones gave him competition
so much talent 💯
You cannot go wrong with Elvis. There are so many songs of his you need to listen too.
A big fan here, more suggestions are welcome
He was so handsome ,humble ,great sense of humor
