    Folding the edges of valleys. Not even a seasoned roofer does this. Only a master!
    This tip alone is worth big $$$.

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  7 лет назад +3

      That tip alone sir , will prevent the water to run off the valley and elevate the tile1/4of an inch to get rid of debris in the long run , I learned it from an old master roofer in 1996 , he was a roofer from the 1950's

    Yep....You just solved my issue. The previous roofer installed the valley wrong. They installed the battens/hook strips over on to the valley flashing. Then they beat down the 90 degree lip that was on the valley. Water run down the valley, hit the batten and run along the batten and rotted out the paper. LEAK Now I will take the valley apart, reinstall new valley with lip, shorted battens, and cut new tile to close in the valley tight to keep out the debris. Thanks Eric. Wish you were in the Sacramento area.

    This playwood base with waterproof underlayment makes this tile roof stronger than the old way of using battens alone without the playwood to support the tiles.

    Perfecto Garcia for sure. That's a great tip about cutting the battens-it shows a real pro's way of doing it. I bet it's done the wrong way much of the time because the leak won't show up for a few years.

    @ 7:46 you can see it... your riser flashing/birdstop flashing (ive heard it called many things) looks like is resting right ontop of the valley. It should be notched for clearance so that it does not crush the J fold of the valley flashing... also... only a single fold valley with what looks like a 1/2" J fold... commmmmmon lol other than that it looks pretty good.

    Is it common to lay baton to lay the tile on. From AZ and I’ve only seen it on newer houses or repairs.

    first thing ..why wrap the ridge boards like that .is better if paper go over the plywood
    second ..the cuts togethers in valleys make the same problem what you said with battens on top the valley ,specially with those palms tree the dirt will be stuck on cuts and water will be running to sides i fixed a lot houses for this problem
    and third there are many colors of tile what match better than what you used

    My ridge boards do no exist, over 400 ft. ! My valleys are so sloppy and supported by chunks of broken tile. the slope is ok on upper half but catches way to many leaves above and dirt/mulch and jams all up. the lower half reduces slope and everything piles up. many tiles are small pieces and have no fastners at all Have exact same Monier spanish tile done in '90. Le faltó el lead flashing dónde comienza el valley, plastic cement en las orrillas del valley ,strip extención para los valley y es mejor usar lo w valley con 3" en el centro,en los últimos segundo del vídeo se miran los cortes del valle mal puestos, el felt lo instalaron de una manera que si fuera para shingles les falta mucho a ese equipo

    Too bad you did not run batons down vertically and then place horizontal so No water has to find a road downhill also does not trap hear and vents nucb better
