Idk why but this gives me quite relaxation and comfort, knowing that this ambiance is part of my childhood, whenever i hear this, i get so nostalgic, i wanted to go back when i first play this masterpiece game.
I still find the atmosphere brilliant. I still haven't seen the feeling of such overwhelming oppression done so subtly like as in City 17. You can feel how small humans are compared to the Combine empire by sound design alone.
For 2004, it was unreal and incredible. Such physics and graphics - it just got me mad. But the atmosphere of HL2 is what made me eternal fan of it - though I havent played for couple of years.
