    Engine Co. 1 responded first due to a working house fire. Upon arrival the house fire was marked working due to heavy fire visible in the A-B corner of the residence and a second alarm was requested. It was also discovered that the house to the left of the initial fire was also on fire due to a power surge that had occurred earlier in the morning.

    Question about the homes next to the fire station. Are the property values low because of the noise or high because of the proximity of fire service?

    • @firetrain210
      @firetrain210 7 лет назад +3

      Insurance companies have a formula that they use that includes proximity to station, hydrant locations, department rating, etc. House value however would not be increased by a station being nearby, on the contrary though the sale could definitely be difficult if it is a busy firehouse.

    When I heard the sirens and horns I rejected the urge to get excited and focused on the job. When I was at the scene I rejected the urge to get excited about the fire and focused on the JOB! Fire fighting is not a Job to get excited about or get your kicks. It could be Your house. Get the job done Now!

    • @bigmanplayz721
      @bigmanplayz721 7 лет назад +1

      JB91710 you can get excited and get the job done. enjoying your job and helping someone in need at the same time makes it all worth while

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 7 лет назад

      Kode This is going to be long but Well Worth It!
      1. When a person joins the service and Swears to protect life and property, if that person is Truly taking that oath seriously, then that person can take Nothing from their Job but the satisfaction that they used their heads and got the Job done as good as it could be done. If they Got Off on the sirens, trucks, the fire itself or even the Rush, they are NOT a true and dedicated Fire Fighter/Worker.
      2. Think of a Super Bowl team on the five yard line with three seconds to go and they need this touch down to win the game or a Nascar pit crew for a car that is in the lead for the Daytona 500 and this is the Last pit stop. Not one of those players are getting Off on their job at that moment. All they are focusing on is their Job. Their Responsibility! They will LOOSE if they don't focus and perform at 100%. When You are out there, the Home owner can loose Everything if you don't focus and Care about Your performance.
      3. I want you to Truthfully imagine hearing the alarm sound and think about how you feel through every step of the drive to the scene and your responsibilities when you go to someone's house to fight a fire. It's a 2.5 colonial with the fire in the garage and it's heading into the family room connecting to the house and the flames are licking at the attic. Think of how you FEEL every step of the way right to the clean up at the end. Think of your attitude before, during and at the end.
      4. Now, think about it again but this time it's Your address, Your House, Your possessions you've spent a lifetime accumulating, You have NO fire insurance, and Your dog that you love as much as your kids. (Go ahead, you can admit it here). Now, compare how you would Think, Act and Feel all the way through this disaster. THAT, is how you should Think and Feel on every fire you go to because someone is going to feel just what you just imagined. When you swear to that oath, That, is what your attitude should be at every call. I don't think you would be Getting Off or Enjoying One Second while you were saving Your stuff!
      Now THIS is the Most Important thing to think about!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      When you go to someone Else's address, your Training will kick in and you will follow it because you are a good little follower. (Not trying to insult anyone but this is a sad fact of humanity.). While you are performing you May think to yourself, "Is this really the Best way?", but you will push that out of your mind and be a good little follower and do what you are told. After all, Who Are You to question Authority or a so called Professional.
      Now, this is Your house, Your possessions and Your dog. When you get that feeling about the best way, are you going to be a good follower or are you going to tap into your own Good Common Sense and do what You think is Best to save Your property.
      If you have NO health insurance and a Family that depends on you, are you going to climb on the roof of Your burning house when your gut tells you that Vertical Ventilation doesn't work because a house is not a chimney and can't possible work like one? When that burning garage is threatening your house, will you take the TIME to Get Fully Dressed, pull a hose, grab tools, break down the front door, drag the hose through your house that is full of smoke and is instantly disorienting, drag it through your house to the door from the family room to the garage and open the door letting a blast of flame hit you in the face? OR, are you going to hit that garage fire with the largest and fastest water you have, The Deck Gun and in 10 seconds turn it into a smoldering ruin and save your house, possessions and dog?
      Don't forget, Your department trainers, UL and NIST say you should follow all those tactics that have Nothing to do with saving life or property and have No chance of extinguishing the fire. Who are YOU to question this authority.

When going to make that turn and it's covered with trees and brush you can't see passed , you don't know if there are cars, if they even pulled off, or if they stall in the middle of the road (which happens a lot) if you wanna come do my job.... feel free!
