- Here are the two Aqueon heaters I have used.
I prefer the adjustable temperature heater. However, I do wish it was smaller.
So far I had no issues.
(The red light is on when the heater is on and once the temperature is achieved, the light turns off.)
I got the pre-set heater at Petco. I was not happy with the preset temperature so I decided to return it.
The larger, adjustable temperature heater is from Amazon. I purchased the second one and replaced the small heater.
Update: 6 weeks. No issues.
Update: 1 year later. No issues

Thanks a lot for the run down. My Aqueon heater came in the aquarium box, but I didn't know it was preset. That helped me a bunch. Now I just need some fish!
I'm glad it was helpful :)
Cool video got a heater that can change the dial with your help I got it adjusted as mine didn’t have digits on I added a thermostat so hope this work
Thank you! I bought this kit with an aquarium it from petco, and the temperature was not made known on the set.
The light doesn’t turn on when I plug it in and my tank is at 70
Mine won’t either, did u figure it out?
@@JusAP815 do you recommend?
@@STORIEDAMAAN It took a few days for it to actually heat up and start working but it does work on my 40 gallon tank so it would be more of an investment than a waste of money but I’m sure there are better options, but yes this one does work perfectly fine and gets the job done
I got two tanks for both my kids fish and they came with the small submerge heaters. I fallowed instructions but they never turned on. I even had them submerged over night and plug in in morning. My sons turned on for a second then back off. My daughters never turned on. Water is flippen cold. I’m mad cuz I spent over $166.00 on the tank sets and both heaters not working.
Whats the temperature on the big and small heater lowest to highest thnx
I returned the small one and got another big one so I can only read the temp.from the larger one. It is 68°-88.°
For the smaller heater do i put the whole thing in the water and just leave the cord out
Yes if u don’t put it completely underwater it will burn and break or fry all of ur fish because it broke
Why does my light go off
Same. Just connected my new aqueon preset heater and after 3 mins the light indicating it is heating shut off. It’s supposed to shut off when it has reached 78 degrees 🤷🏻♂️. Disappointed.
I returned the small one. Didn't like the preset temperature. I prefer to adjust it.
What temperature should small one be set for a 10 gallon tank
It depends which fish you have. Every fish has temp.that they like.
I just bought this and it’s a lemon , light went out after a few minutes temp in tank is falling 😡
With the smaller one What does it mean when the light comes on
It means that it is heating up
does the bigger one overheat after using for a long time?
I have 2 right now and they don't overheat.
73 is too cold for community tropical fish. They do well at 80 degrees F. 🐟
It really depends which fish. Mine are fine and the diseases don't thrive as they do in warmer temperatures.
Does it need a cover so it doesn’t burn the fish or plants
It doesn't
The littles one light turns on a lot in my tank is that bad
It's turns on when the water temperature drops. If the temperature in your room is lets say 70° then the water will be about the same temperature. The heater will periodically turn on trying to heat the water up. The lower the temperature in your room the more the heater will turn on.
How do you set up the temperature you want
You turn the dial on the top
Is there a button to turn the heater on or does it turn on when u plug it in
It should turn on automatically when the temperature is lower than the setting.
My thermostat says it’s around 71 and I put my heater half way between 76 and 80
Not sure then. Maybe it's not working.
I have the little one how do I adjust it
You can't adjust the small one.
I had the same one for years all of a sudden it malfunctioned and cooked all the fish and corals. 😢
Oh no 😔. Which one would you recommend?
@@thestrawberryaniahomegarde7228 i mean, I can’t recommend any heaters they always have some sort of issues eventually. It’ll just stop working at some point or will malfunction. best way to prevent cooking your aquarium is to get a temperature controller
I haven't been using a heater since this one stopped working but our room temperature is good enough for our fish requirements. However, a lot of other fish need warmer temperature. So how do you control the temperature without the heater? Just thermometer?
@@thestrawberryaniahomegarde7228 yeah just thermometer. Back then i used to use “T5” lights, that also produces heat. Now i just use a heater and pray that it doesnt malfunction again. 😅🤞🏾
One day i'm gonna Buy Aqueon Submersible Aquarium Heater 50w For My Betta Fish
I wouldn’t recommend it. So many people having problems with it. Me included. Fallowed all directions and they aren’t working. I bought two tank sets and both heaters don’t work. I ended up unplugging them again and had them submerged over night woke up plugged them in. My sons turned on for a minute then back off and my daughters wouldn’t turn on at all. Water is freezing cold. A waste of money.
Is a 50W good for a 55 gallon tank? Please respond fast
I'm sorry but I don't know
i bought one and it’s in the tank right now and the light isn’t on.. is it broken?
or does it turn on once the tank is already good enough for fish
btw i have the small 50W one
It's possible that the temperature of the water is already the same as the setting of the heater. It should turn on once the water temp.drops.
I notice your heater has a red light on when I power mine on it stays off I’m not sure why
Maybe your water temperature is already what the heater is set up to.
@@thestrawberryaniahomegarde7228 I just got my fish today and when I put a bit of food in only 1 goes for it and I have 4 of them any advice?
Give them time. They could be stressed out. They will eat when they get hungry. I feed mine once a day around the same time. They got used to it pretty quickly.
@@thestrawberryaniahomegarde7228 not even 1 day in they produced baby fish I think 11 the fish can eat the baby fish and I don’t know where to separate them I have 1 tank that’s it
You can take any container (not too small). Preferably glass and make sure it's clean and rinse it additionally. Put water from your aquarium into this container and put the babies in there. It should be Ok for a little bit.
This thing doesn't even work.
I have 2 and no issues
I bought two tank sets and both submerged heaters aren’t working for me. I fallowed instructions still nothing. I unplugged them and them submerged over night plug back in in morning my sons turned on for a minute then back off and my daughters never turned on. Water is freezing cold. I am pissed off. I spent $166.00 on two tank sets and the heaters are crap.
Sorry, but I can barely hear you.
