Thanks to Pavel for posting a link to this interview on his channel. I was interested to hear about his experiences with Mark but knew nothing else about him and man, what a great humble guy with an amazing career. I saw him live with Mark in 2013, it was great. So I guess I am now a fan of Richard Bennett and I'll go check out his music. You've done a great job as the interviewer. Now to listen to the Glenn Worf interview :)
Wonderful interview! I’ve been a fan of Richard for years ever since I’ve been a fan of Neil Diamond. I would have liked if he would have said why he left Neil in 1987 but I was happy to hear that he played on Neil’s 50th anniversary tour so it must not have been a bad thing. Anyway great interview!
Who Knew? Dennis (St.John) asked Richard's mother who lived in Phoenix if 19 year old Richard could move to LA. He promised her Richard could live in our Pool House and that we'd watch over him. I have so many memories of young Richard...sitting by the pool, helping Den grill steaks, and just being such a nice young man. Richard and I were both new to LA and shared our awe of Hollywood. Good on you Richard, love Katie.
oh man this is what i call An Interview!!!i thank you so much for such a deep insight into Richard's career.I'been to at least a dozen live concerts here in Italy,i i'm so in love with Mark's music, and i always felt at home at the gigs, these guys Mark and whole band are num 1 musicians and num 1 gentlemen.I thank you so much for this superb interview that allows people like me to feel closer to our real heroes.Thank you ELG keep on!!!!!!!!
Richard, Thank you for such an honest, articulate, and authentic interview. I think you helped a lot of people by being your true self, letting us see your pains and your joy. Thank you so much.
This is the kind of interview it is worth listening to instead of the clone interviews you see with other musicians (same questions, same answers). Richard is an amazing musician and a down to earth guy. It is funny how listening to his music turned me into guitar jazz (Tal Farlow, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel, etc) and listening to him saying how these musicians turned him into jazz. It feels like the circle is complete.
Love Richard, followed him since he joined Mark and I’ve heard Mark say Richard teaches him some chords sometimes. I love the idea that the two of them are sitting there working on riffs and shapes.
Hi, is there a specific time in the interview where he talks of Speedway at Nazareth? I'd like to listen to his point of view about this song that he plays live in a very powerful mood. Thanks!
One of Bennett's best albums as producer was Kim Richey's self-titled debut album. He did virtually all of the guitars, and the whole album has a great vibe.
Guitar Town is one of my all-time favourite albums. It was life-changing for me, as a guitarist, because I learned that "energy" doesn't mean "loud" or "fast."
Such a wonderful interview. You are tremendous at interviewing sir. Very soft-spoken, which is so rare these times. Mr Bennett is amazing to listen to as well ;) Thanks for this!
I love the guy. He's such a master of guitar ( I play myself a little bit and I am able to tell that) and such a decent man. Would be great just to sit around to talk and play with him
RB is an incredible person first...and then a wonderful musician. Loved the stories! Good interviewer ELG!! You allowed RB to tell his story, with key prompts along the way. (interview was never about "you"!) I agree...you know, I believe MK will eventually write his memoir. From studying his DS days of interviews, he did not seem to enjoy them...was often sarcastic and clip with responses.(youth?) Not sure he trusted the interviewers.(some did ask some really ignorant questions...) Post DS career he was more mellow, confident, and tolerant...well, he had 'arrived', and was very successful; his legacy there was set, not to mention he had certainly made his money. The interviews during the 90s and 2000s were more comfortable; he seemed more at ease and genuinely engaged with an interviewer (interviewers were probably better too!?) Wonder if he has been crafting his story throughout these past two years? (after final tour (DTRW-19) and then the Pandemic months) I would so enjoy reading his work! I think he can better express himself through his writing than through an interview. He doesn't have to react/respond to someone's thinking/ideas, he simply writes from within himself.
@@EveryoneLovesGuitar That’s two of his band now so you clearly have negotiating skills!!😃 I would equally love to hear from the rest of his band, Ian Thomas, Danny Cummings and how about his right hand man Guy Fletcher!!!! You could make this happen!! 👍🏻
Hands down the most interesting interview with a musician that I've ever heard.
Thank you for listening Ken Cooke! 🎉🔥😇

A real treat.
I just listened to Captain Jack and it´s a great track.Haven´t heard it before,as far as I remember.
