When drilling through vinyl with a hole saw, run the drill in reverse until it cuts through the vinyl, then go forward to cut through the backing. It won't grab the vinyl like that. :)

Them cables would be mounted on the inside of the boat. I'm to big to fit in a boat sandwich. There might have been a large access panel when I was finished along with some duct tape usage. That's how we do it in Alaska.😄😄😄

I have to give y'all an A+ on the control replacement. Especially when you're not familiar with them. Those seastar controls are kinda a pain in the rear! (Coming from a 27+ year mercury tech who has replaced over a hundred of them) I find them aggravating too! If you had used a mercury one, you would still had to cut out the opening some and replaced the cables to a different style, would have been considerably more expensive. Probably still easier than the seastar ones, lol. Good job!

I was lucky enough to grow up on beaches, in a sub topical region and have been boating all my life, still have a captains licence. A word of advice to newbie boaters, when you anchor down at low tide and want to leave your boat overnight, make sure you put out plenty of anchor rope/chain or else when the high tide hits it will either drag the nose of a small boat under water or pop your anchor out of the sand and float off with your boat. As for the explosion, that's why I never leave a can of CRC or WD-40 in the trunk of a car! LOL

My shifter did that while under way. Shorted the trailering wires and put the drive up out of the water. I had to shut it down quick. Ripped the wires off. Figure out which ones put the drive back down, then used Channel lock pliers to operate the shift and throttle. Just in time to get out of the way of a Great Lakes freighter.

It is essential to break out the OEM service manual first when doing shifting adjustments. It covers how to do the adjustment correctly before running the motor so you make certain it will consistently shift safely from neutral to forward or reverse BEFORE the throttle cable moves.
I don't ever test the shifting system on the drive system without going through those steps first. Want to eat up the lower unit parts fast, let it idle real high and shift it into gear several times.
Is it possible to do this without the manual? Yes but it consumes a lot of time guessing and struggling to get it right.
The factory service manual steps will also help you diagnose if your issue is due to the lower shift cable or outdrive if a shifting issue occurs.

Oh to love boating is painful. For my big family vacation this year I found that out engine block had not been properly winterized (dad passed away nobody knew where the boat was), so it was cracked (2 weeks before our trip). I found a block in Florida but a shipping snafu to Utah meant I didn't have a block until two days before we were supposed to be on the lake. Oh, and someone thought it would be a good time to convert to a sniper EFI and a 4bbl intake. I got it done, but only just, and spent the week working out the kinks. Now re-doing all the shortcuts I took...

Hope you both didn’t get flooded out on Wednesday’s storm at AirVenture. Our tent leaked. Just came across your boat videos this past week. Great Chanel. We are new to owning a boat (been building experimental airplanes and flying for years though). Keep up the great videos.

Great video! Can't believe all that damage from an airhorn! Hope you don't keep self-inflating life jackets on the boat. Imagine the damage those canisters could do! Really enjoy your posts!

Totally relatable with my first 3 boats. Recently I had 2 aerosol cans of BANG go BANG in one of my compartments. That compartment and my rod box that shares a vent still smells like garlic, shad, and crawfish. Not gonna lie-I bought a new bass boat and am making a payment because of lack of patience and when it's time to fish it's time to fish. At least I know how this one has been cared for.

That’s AWESOME Timothy!!! Thank you so much for watching our stuff! Yeah, the TV thing was an interesting experience but honestly- glad they didn’t renew it because our main goal is to build this channel and having Discovery feel like they owned us was unsettling! Lol!!! Sure do appreciate the support here, stay tuned!!

I have a can of dust off in my garage which is now in my home. I never knew they had the ability to explode with that much force. I really hope this video saves someone a future injury or damage.
