Absolutly. And will do, it's because of your videos I got back into rc boating. And first boat was the proboat 1/10 scale miss Budweiser. And doing similar things with recording videos working on them and playing with them. On my other account though not this one. If you want can check them out. 213chrisp is the name.
ruclips.net/video/ljZHlLDMlNY/видео.html there is a link if you wanted to watch. No worries if you dont though. I dont want t you think I'm trying to spam your channel or anything.
Scott, for all my scroll saw stuff I do I use a LOT of patterns. I go to the dollar store, get a couple rolls of cheapo masking tape, put that down first. Then spray glue your pattern down to that. The masking tape comes off really easy with no residue and no acetone needed.
@@M5PerfHydros Have you ever thought of using clear vinyl transfer tape, like what goes over the top of finished vinyl window/car stickers to peel them off the paper backing to apply to the window? You can find it on that ama zon site in 12" or 24" wide by 50' rolls for like $15 bucks and spare yourself hours of making rows of masking tape and it peels off residue free too! Did I mention it's clear too, so you can trace what's underneath to cut out and transfer patterns that way too? 😎
Do you have to build a jig for all your boats how do we obtain those little bitty boats that you had setting on your frame. Thanks for the construction information 👍
You can build a great many boats on the same jig, just so long as the air trap width is the same or wider. If I remember I'll try to explain further in the next video. The mini hydroplane replicas are by Brian Anderson. He makes really beautiful replicas of almost every hydroplane that has ever run. I'm not sure I can share his contact info here, but if you search his name on Facebook (he lives in Issaquah, WA) you should be able to contact him there.
Love the builds Scott, you have helped me a ton!!! I’m going to build one of Mikes kits and was wondering if you knew what kit would have the flat bottom?? I’d rather do that then a step center bottom. Thanks for any help and recommendations.
None have perfectly flat bottoms. The ones labeled "extreme" have almost full length flat bottoms with a shelf-like step up near the front. All others have a traditional flat afterplane with a "break" that angles up to the bullnose beginning somewhere around the sponson transoms. My most recent build has a flat afterplane going into a gentle radius up to the bullnose.
Stay tuned Edwin... I'll make the plans available if and when I prove the design works. If it fails miserably... You won't want them. But if it's a bullet I'll let you know!
Hallo i have a question where do you put de two sides on the boat catamaran measurment I have a plan but they dont put the measurment for that greetings
Any tips for cutting the skins? I’m thinking of clamping the material to a thin sheet of 1/4” ply wood and working slowly with a fine toothe jig saw. But also wondering if a scroll saw is the way to go?

@@M5PerfHydros My interest is in the whole structural integrity of the vessel. Your work is clean and organized, I like it. I'm currently scratch building a 44" Disney Nautilus. It was originally my intention to 3d print the hull, but this may be impractical due to the time it takes. I'll still print many of the detail parts, but may take a different approach to the hull. That's where you come in. Now I'm mulling over the idea of making ribs for the hull and covering them with either ply or styrene, then covering that with thin 3d printed hull plates that have the rivet detail on them. Working on the rib design now as I write this. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'll subscribe to your channel if I haven't done so already.

Hi Scott, I see in this video that you get to the point of showing how much epoxy to use, but you didn't show how you apply it. Do you use one of those small hobby brushes? Do you apply it to both surfaces being attached, or just one? Thanks, Jeff
Yup, I use small brushes. Not the typical horsehair epoxy brushes that you get in the hobby shops. Those tend to lose a lot of hairs and that drives me crazy. I'll put a link below to the ones I use. And yes I do apply epoxy to both pieces, mainly just to be sure that there are no bare wood spots anywhere. www.amazon.com/dp/B07TNQFLCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5X035M7TMWC2GQ7EAS0Y?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
1st time viewing this sort of thing and I think it is truly a work of art.
Thanks. Maybe you should build one!
Love the build videos. So many great tips and ideas. Like to watch them several times because there is lots of nuggets of wisdom.

Looking good and cant wait to see the rest of this boat.... one day I'll get there.

An extra step? I'm much too lazy for that Ken. Besides, I love the smell of acetone!

Great building tips. I wish I could do a hydro build. I'm only lacking three things. Money, Time and Space... Maybe someday. Need the space first.
I'm thinking of doing a 1/10 scale electric build video series... Small and cheap... No excuses!
Very cool I have a Stuart Sirius uniflo steam engine for hydroplane so as heavy or more than gas but 3400rpm. Nice hull work.

I am sorry but I don't understand your question?
What wood you use? It's kinda hard atleast where I am to get thinly cut wood unless you have a laser cutter
I use Finnish birch from Aircraft Spruce; www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/wppages/finnishbirch.php

Don't waste the 1/4 ply! I use scroll saw where I can and a Dremel tool with an aggressive cutting disc for the rest. Works like a charm!
