- UPDATE! The plastic shoulder/washer things eventually failed on my lower latches and I just removed the lower latch entirely. I tried to fix them using these on Amazon but they were too small for my cable size so now I'll need to buy a new complete lower latch assembly :(

Fixed my suicide door from being stuck open by re-seating the cable and using a zip tie to hold it in place.
Here are zip ties off Amazon: amzn.to/2oocZ0L Кино
I worked on mine fore an hour, thought I had the problem. Did a search, found your video. Opened for the first time in months. Thank you!
Niiiice. Glad it helped. Yeah, mine have been working great ever since.
This was the perfect fix to the problem, saved us a lot of time! Thank you
You have no idea how awesome this was for me and the kids who are still in car seats. Thanks for the video!
Had the same issue today and realized both doors had gone bad! Rarely used the passenger door in my 2002. Tried a few things with no luck. Watched the video and BAM! Done.
Well I tried the fix today 3/11/2019 and it worked great. I was thinking I had to replace the entire door locks, the locks were fine the black cable had just slipped off when I closed the door. I got the tie strap and the door worked. By the way I had taken the truck to the dealer a few weeks earlier they charged me $50.00 and in two weeks I had the exact same problem. These videos are priceless................
Both of mine went out within about 3 months of each other in my 2001. Just checked and this is what is wrong with the one on the driver's side. About to check the passenger. Thanks for this video. It has saved me a ton of time and cussing.
Update: Same thing on the other. Sounds like a design problem. Mine have been used rarely and I would have thought that they would work for a lot more cycles than they did.
Thank you!!! Mine has been doing this on both sides for a year now! You saved me some money from the dealership!
That was exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for the video, Sir. 👍
Excellent video. Thank you so much! I struggled with this door for months now and carpooling (yes, I'm a "soccer" mom) has been a b**tch! Finally got it fixed. Thank you again. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for this video! It made fixing my door simple and easy. I just did it on my lunch break. You rock!
This really worked! Saved me a ton of time. Thanks!
Perfect fix for mine! fixed in less than 10 mins. Thank you very much for the vid!
Great Fix!! But here's how you open the door to make it easier to fix. 16" flathead screwdriver, go in thru the hole at the actuator rod, press against the cable while applying slight pressure to close door and the latches will open, shazam! Door opens!
Thanks man. Fixed mine in no time!
Thanks so much! I had some doubts but decided to try after watching this and it’s fixed 😄
Thank you for taking time to help!!!
worked like a charm with a zip-tie! Took 20 minutes tops!
Your fix was exactly as you showed.I believe I saved hundreds of dollars versus taking it to a mechanic.I known the local Ford dealership charges $110.00 just o diagnose a problem.I used two ties versus the one.Other than that. Thanks a lot for posting.
Excellent video. This did the trick for me. To make sure it doesn't slip off the notch again, I used a bit of crazy glue to secure the plastic casing (but NOT the wire) to the little nub. Works like a charm. Thank you for this video, I thought it would be a much more difficult fix!
Great video! just what I needed on my door.
Perfect! I have the same problem! You saved me hours of work!
Thanks this helped me get my back suicide door 2 open I had the exact problem it's all fixed thank you again
Great video. Thx for sharing. Solved the issue right away.
Perfect solution. Used a zip tie to keep the metal pulley back on the carriage 👍
Worked like a charm, thanks for the video!
You helped me tremendously, thank you!
This worked great. Thanks for the tip.
Great video! Hope mine is this simple.
Thanks brother! Very helpful, exactly my problem. You are appreciated!
This helped big time!!!!!!!!!!!
Hells yes dude! Worked just like the video. !
Awesome!! Thanks! That door hasn’t opened in 2 years.
Worked like a charm thanks
Thank you for the video! This worked great!
this fix does work. I used a thick zip tie. Has not failed yet
Thank you! Worked perfect for me
Cool this just happened to me yesterday. Thanks
Gonna try it tomorrow I'll let you know if it works .. Tks for the tip
Cool, thanks man!
Thanks for help
Thanks!!!
Looks so easy
the Bruno handicap captain seat is so close to the door I have little room to take of the door panel, Bruno seat is remote control .
Got to love RUclips
Where does the rod go on the right side of the door
What if the black pieces on the cable wire is broken?
Yep. That happened to me after I made this video. I’m pretty sure you have to replace the wire. I tried buying these metal replacements for those black parts but they didn’t fit. I ended up just removing the bottom latch before I sold the truck. The top latch still worked.
5 min fixes it..thanks...
Thank you.. but bad engineering on Ford's part
You might’ve helped me

I wasted over 3 minutes watching you put a band aid on a problem.
That band aid has been working on my door for 6 years.
Still working on my doors. It's been at least 2 or 3 years since I made this video.
Worked for me too, ordered the parts on Walmart.Com. no auto parts stores even knew they existed and had no idea how to order them
