I don’t know how it is in other states but in Maryland you can always opt for a payout after the shop has assessed the damage and given a quote. The insurance will usually deduct your deductible and pay you out on what that quote is. You can often get things done a lot cheaper and even come out ahead sometimes depending on where the quote comes from. You didn’t really have to get into it with the adjuster. It’s your right to have it fixed where you want it done. They often don’t even come back to check if it’s been done. So for next time, have them take the car to which ever shop is going to do the quote. In fact if they’ll let you take it where you want take it to a shop that deals with high-end cars, let them do the assessment and send the quote. When you get the call from insurance to approve everything. That’s when you say, you’d like to get it done on your own so they should send you the check. It’s your right so they will. That’s it.

But on the bright side by buying this one there's the people you've met, the experiences you've had, and even bits with the old engine are bright spots because they contributed to the over all story of the vehicle and you learned something about engines at the same time.
The last engine could be rebuilt but I wouldn’t have done it. Especially not for a daily. There was a lot of damage done to it, so like you said not reliable. If it was for a rally build or just to throw in another body for the fun of it yes. Someone might buy the old engine just to make it run in a buggy build.
If it’s properly rebuilt it will be absolutely as good and reliable as a brand new engine. I wouldn’t rebuild this one either if I could find a good used one for under 20k, but not because of potential unreliability but because of cost.
What do we know about this eBay engine? 9k miles I heard. Do you have the VIN from the doner? What was the story they gave? They said it runs, but did it run to temp and maintain? Who is the seller? It would be super cool if you found the salvage auction photos of the doner and could even verify the story on the engine. I’d be interested to see boroscope video of the cylinders. Checking valves while turning it over by hand wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Check the engine well before putting it in. 10k? I hope you are joking and would never screw someone like that. That engine is trash and is probably not even worth the core charge. If someone sold me that engine as “running” I would spend the rest of my life punishing that person any way I could. Honesty and Integrity are the basics of not being a garbage human.
@@ReactorFourlook up McLaren engines on eBay. Completely disintegrated fire burned engines go for $7-9k. But yeah, I get your point. But still...market value for these is ridiculous. And my old engine is a very good core to rebuild for higher power.
Cannonball garage which is a garage that specializes in McLaren engines, they also did tavarish's P1 engine. I'm pretty sure they would have been able to rebuild your motor for cheaper than the 38,000 and some odd dollars that you just paid for a used motor on eBay
Credit card is a bad idea. A personal loan or HELOC would be a better idea. Also you could sell the lambo and use that money which is what I would probably do.
I think you was better off not filing the Lamborghini with insurance because it would probably be cheaper just to fix it yourself and not say anything. Because in my experience, anytime I filed a claim, my insurance goes up. Didn't Matter if it was my fault or not

Im not convinced. And Im one to rebuild coming from the racing world. We don’t know exactly what was found in there. We do know it was ran for an extended period of time without oil pressure and it smoked like crazy. Because the no oil pressure I would assume it needs cylinders resleeved or at least rehoned if not coated with some trick coating, probably pistons, wrist pins, cams, timing chain(s), chain tensioner(s), chain guides, oil pump, big and small end bearings, crank machine work at least, and new valves, valve guides, seats, and valve train. Even if the rods and block are still ok, it will likely also need machine work on the heads, and of course new head gasket / gasket set, plugs, coils, etc. I also assume it would at least need turbos rebuilt if not replaced. It’s hard to say without looking inside, but it’s likely everything internal is ruined from oil starvation. If this eBay engine is actually good for the price he paid, then I think it would be hard to beat price wise…. Again, assuming it is a good 9k engine with turbos, intake, and accessories. Hopefully we will get to see inside.
Please clean out your intercollers and all the pipes before installing the new engine. Also MOST IMPORTANT clean and flush the dry sump system before installing the new engine any REMOTE OIL COOLERS should be replaced. Don’t rush the install
@@TheInja20 He is saying do this before you install the engine. If there is any engine debris in those oil coolers or other lines then your new engine will ingest them and now you need to find another engine.
Didn't finish watching the video yet, but I hope your mechanic at least pulled the plugs, checked everything he could beforehand, scoped the cylinders, etc... looking forward to hearing it purr like a kitten without the James Bond smoke screen. 😊👍👍

Do you watch your own videos? Do you listen to yourself speak? You keep referring to this engine as”NEW” this is not a new engine. It is used. Yes low mileage, but used nonetheless. You have no idea the history of this engine has the seller provided you a warranty and if so, what is the warranty? The two turbos alone will cost you a ton as you already know he might warrantee the engine, but not anything else. You are really really optimistic and I understand that but a certain point you gotta wake up I’m not wishing you illwill but holy cow dude wake up. I’m assuming there’s no #Warranty because you didn’t mention it. All I heard from you is my new engine the new engine it’s a new engine. Good luck.
Bro, why are you insuring a Lamborghini with State Farm? Seriously, get a Hagerty collector policy. For one thing, the premiums will be about a quarter what you're currently paying, and second, they're AWESOME to work with a really understand collector and exotic cars. I have a policy with an Aston Martin, Porsche, two Mercedes, and an old Land Rover, and my total premium is $450/month for the entire collection. Full coverage, $100 deductible. In NYC. Want to use an independent specialist on the other side of the country? No problem. Have custom parts that need to be replaced? No problem. Rare car with zero parts availability and needs custom fabrication? No problem. Repairs cost more than the book value of the car? No problem. They work with you on EVERYTHING. Oh and if your car does somehow get totalled -- they won't total the car unless you want them to -- they GIVE YOU THE CAR BACK with a salvage title to do whatever you want with it, in addition to your payout. It's completely insane to own these cars on any kind of standard policy.
Will check them out, I couldn't find anyone else to insure it at the time. I called all the major insurance places and only Statefarm would do it. A simple live-and-learn scenario.
@@TheInja20 Yeah I hear you. You have multiple exotic cars though, don't get ripped off. Most of the insurance companies don't even want to deal with cars like this when something happens to them. I am a insurance agent myself, and I know Bylaw state farm cannot tell you where you can take your vehicle to get it fixed.
Glad to see you got it! Too bad it wasnt 15k 😂
Lol! I'll apply for a refund on eBay and see what happens!
I would ground hop the new engine first if you can.
If he was going to do that he'd probably do it with the old one I just don't trust used engines I hope he has good luck
With the job and all i would put the RUNNING but needs love engine on ebay for 10k so you can even up basically? Lets be real. You wanna drive it and drive it a lot. You dont need 1000hp that only ever comes with 1000hp problems 😢....nice to hear all the great news!! 😊
10k? I hope you are joking and would never screw someone like that. That engine is trash and is probably not even worth the core charge. If someone sold me that engine as “running” I would spend the rest of my life punishing that person any way I could. Honesty and Integrity are the basics of not being a garbage human.
100%!
@@ReactorFourlook up McLaren engines on eBay. Completely disintegrated fire burned engines go for $7-9k. But yeah, I get your point. But still...market value for these is ridiculous. And my old engine is a very good core to rebuild for higher power.
@ReactorFour a new 1 is 50-60k
@ReactorFour the 1 he paid 20k for is over 50 percent off.
You d man bro. All day long
Glad you still moving
I live just over the border in Oregon if I can ever help with taxes let me know :)
My man with the hookup! Appreciate you
What's the interest rate on your credit card?
All the open ports scares me
LET'S GOOOO
I’d of just replaced that window myself and put it down to experience, insurance companies arnt worth the hassle.
Yeah, but I may have them just pay me the money and still replace it myself!
Trailer... $42 dollars... I'm getting Stradman vibes.
Please elaborate if you haven't already!
XRP’s got you
lets goooo!!
Turbo seals hone in other engine easy fix 👏😂🤣 thank me later 👍 it will run just fine then
Cannonball garage which is a garage that specializes in McLaren engines, they also did tavarish's P1 engine. I'm pretty sure they would have been able to rebuild your motor for cheaper than the 38,000 and some odd dollars that you just paid for a used motor on eBay
The "EBAY" engine was 25thousand . The 38thousand was the total price of his Mclaren 12c. Pay attention dude.
Upgrade rods
Ah I'm just gonna send it with the stock ones!
@TheInja20 try to upgrade it in the future and best wishes
@@TheInja20 Just don't tune or boost the motor. The stock rods will last for a while if you don't punish the motor.
Didn't Matter if it was my fault or not
You can probably make a little profit on it if you don't keep it
Edit together a bideo of your entire build of the Macclaren when its done. Then monitize the crap out of it. We will watch, even if we just let it play in the background... get that youtube money!!!
Will do!! My man! Just watched the first few videos of the series and I almost forgot how far we have come on this. Crazy.
@TheInja20 need to figure out how to get in on these colabs the other car tubers do... You got a Lambo and a Maclaren... DDE! Get that subscriber count up.
Great videos, I’ve watched them from the start and wish you all the success! You have a great work ethic and positive attitude, but lay off the financial hardship. When you’re a RUclipsr and have a Lamborghini parked in your driveway, no one is watching to hear you cry poor. No hate, just don’t want you to turn people off watching your videos. All the best from Australia 🇦🇺 👍
For sure, I know how it may come across. But I'm just keeping it honest. Obviously in a tight spot I could sell everything, but that doesn't mean cash is easy.
@ Totally get it, and the initial outlay and something like an engine going would be a huge cost to cover when that was not part of the plans. I really hope you get lots of views and subscribers because you are doing great content and I hope it leads you to lots of $$$ so you can do bigger projects 👍
"...very reliable for a long time."...says the guy who's never before owned a McLaren and doesn't know what he's in for lol.
You get my point 😅
194th! Ask your subscribers to double check to see if they have been unsubscribed. I know I was, without me knowing it. Just wanted to let you know it has happened. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
You do know , the rods are the worst in McLaren engines? You would have been money ahead to rebuild it
Im not convinced.
For sure taking our time on this. Installing the engine right now, should be in by the weekend!
@@TheInja20 He is saying do this before you install the engine. If there is any engine debris in those oil coolers or other lines then your new engine will ingest them and now you need to find another engine.
@@ReactorFour yeah, I got that. Just saying like we're working on it all right now. 💯
We all know what’s going to happen…
(explosion meme)
God is good, all the time.
All the time, God is good.
Didn't finish watching the video yet, but I hope your mechanic at least pulled the plugs, checked everything he could beforehand, scoped the cylinders, etc... looking forward to hearing it purr like a kitten without the James Bond smoke screen. 😊👍👍
For sure! I'll probably post findings of our inspection on instagram soon! Also sent an oil sample to blackstone and waiting for the results!
@TheInja20 awesome! So much easier out of the car. On another note, love the CBR...I have a 2006 R1 that could be your CBR's twin from Yamaha...same colors, carbon fiber, etc... looks awesome 👌 Looking forward to the next video.
McLaren is so sexy
your being a drama queen on the glass. Just get the glass and fix it.
Trump --> Cryto
2:10 I am gone, title says 38k you bought for 19k,clickbait bs
Lol this is a video about buying a new engine for my $38,500 McLaren rebuild. The ENGINE was 19k + taxes/shipping. The CAR was $38,500. Read the title
🥹 bless their heart .... Some people can't read. It's ok let them gooooo @@TheInja20
Wouldn’t it be ironic if you bought the McLaren, knowing you had to replace the engine, but made it seem like a surprising twist for content?
That would be the ironest of ironies
Good luck.
If you don't understand that when I say "new" I just mean the "new engine for the project", I won't even bother replying to you. lol. come on man
Bro, why are you insuring a Lamborghini with State Farm?
Very little flexibility and quick to total, and they charge major dollars for a premium. Seriously, look into Hagerty. Everybody with a decent collection uses them.
