Hey sorry you found so much damage. In the end did you come to a definitive conclusion about the oils blockage issue. I know you found cam phaser?? Damage, timing chain tensioner issues, oil pooling in the turbo chargers and cylinder wear. Was the conclusion that it was too expensive / time consuming to repair and you didn’t tear it down any further to come to a conclusion about oil not making it back to the sump ?

    • @TheInja

@@kieranshanley7365 yeah, we suspect an oil blockage in the oil pump unit, but that would require a lot more disassembly (which we may still do after everything blows over this week).

You need to do while the engine is out
    -senna oil pump upgrade
-tune raise idle to 900 rpm for better oil flow at idle
    -dlc coated camshaft finger followers
    -billet oil filter housing upgrade
    -720s DLD flywheel upgrade
-tune cooling fans to turn on sooner(helps oil viscosity)
    -pinned crank hub
-arp bolt upgrade for crank hub
    - get rid of aluminum sleeves and replace with stronger cast iron sleeves or at least remove the stock sleeves and replace the o- rings if not oil and coolant will mix
-675LT turbo manifolds for exotic sound
-all 4 cam phasers and timing chains/guides (wear item)
I've been slowly knocking all this out one by one on mine as I get funds

@Vagtechnic had a blocked dry sump reservoir, he only found out after doing a full rebuild on his twin turbo v10 Audi RS6 recently. He had to cut the reservoir open to diagnose/repair it; it wasn’t sludge, it was component failure. You should check this before running the new engine.

@ on the rs6 it’s a remote reservoir somewhere in the engine bay, the oil is sent to it from the engine’s sump pan. It is then pumped back to the engine under pressure. I don’t know if it’s the same on your car, but it explains why the oil seemed to be disappearing from the engine.
