Kanami is the most selfless lead guitarist you will find. She is happy when her band mate sisters get the spotlight as much as she does(A signature of the band, everyone gets their moment in many of their tracks).
The solos are her call, and she will choose short and try to make it tasteful and fitting. I think she definitely has a worry or anxiety that she does not want to bore anyone or have a set of cookie cutter licks that make her solos sound the same-ish. She does miss occasionally, like in Real Existence live, but it is pretty rare.

EVERYTHING THEY DO IS FOR A REASON! Leave them wanting more. Surprise and entertain. Intrigue, tickle, frustrate, limit expectations then over deliver. Then drop out leaving a buzz and an itch.

YES! Saiki can rap. Akane's drumming in this is INSANE! What can I say about MISA and Kanami's solos but AWESOME!!!!!

Kanami could have longer solos if she wanted, but she has serving the song foremost in mind, always. Besides, when you listen for it you realize just how much cool stuff she’s doing throughout the rest of these songs. Even in places where other guitarists would disappear she’s doing something interesting, sometimes very intricate, without outshining anyone else. I may be in the minority but it’s the things she does when she’s not “soloing” that make her stand out from a lot of other current rock guitarists.

Then I'm in the same minority man. The workload she puts herself through in the non solo part of their songs is really quite astonishing. Total respect.

At the 10th concert at Yokohama Arena, Miku played the introductory solo. It was amazing. My teacher Kanami was very moved.

With new releases and their album about to drop, it continues to be Hunky Dory Days for USA fans, that's for sure! And the Maids entire 2022 & 2023 US tour was a fantastic success! So many great live fancams to watch! And they'll be coming back soon, I hope! ;-) Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! A live Band-Maid experience is not to be missed, if at all possible! Thx, Shredder!

This song despite a marvellous musicianship struck for me as a parody for current stupid times when dumb influencers rule the world. Kudos to girls for standing against this trend.

Kanami likes giving her bandmates the spotlight she is unselfish. btw Kanami hated being on that ledge because she is afraid of heights

    Here's the Thing!
I'd hate to call it formulaic but you can almost be assured of a Kanami solo/feature in every Band-Maid song., but she will only play within the confines of the song, only to service it, displaying flashes of talent, purposely leaving you wanting more. So as a true fan be patient, you know itst on its way, be grateful for what you get.
Band-Maid fans often complain about the mix, it's because Kanami is so selfless, and is often creating magic underneath it both standing alone as well as supporting the song, to let the Vocals, Bass and Drums shine through.
All these armchair heroes going on and on about the mix. As if they know more about music and sound than Kanami does? Or perhaps it's that she realizes that everything can't be upfront and that maybe the sound that they've come to love Bass, Vocals and Drums upfront can only be accomplished if guitar takes a step back, without it sounding like a Phucking mess.
If she were about her ego she could easily make it about her. Like Xingve Malmstein (Ying Yang), Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. As great as technical Guitarist that ever lived, but who remembers a Phucking song by them, outside a series of amazing sounds.
    Kanami writes Music, not solos!

It became obvious a few years ago that misa was very unconfident and was not happy in herself. Her band mates felt her talent deeply and loved her as the baby of the band, so I think they decided to make her a feature, a unique selling point, one of many. There was suddenly a day on tour when almost overnight the fans started to shout her name together and she's become this absolute legend. You can see how much her besties love this for her.
She paints now too in her downtime so she has something to do instead of getting drunk. And japan's bassist community have embraced her (I mean a hot young geeky bassist who likes her beer and whiskey is got to have a place at the table).
Having her and Miku absolutely established kanami now (with a firm shove in the back from her crush saiki) is stepping up. Getting love from Mikey chan Einziger of incubus onstage and off really boosted her and she's awarded herself an eye wateringly expensive custom private stock PRS and a couple of Bogner amps (she doesn't seem to spend money on anything else, no racehorses like miku), she's bought into the realisation of her own genius.

Getting these anime themes and knocking them out of the park is a great gig for them. As you know as a musician having a regular source of decent paydays and exposure helps everything else.
This is one of a number of things that invigorates the Japanese music scene. Also the anime audience are up for some heavy prog elements so long they have a bunch of earworms.
I think this is a big factor in how they have become huge in their home market packing any size hall they can book

Madness? Do you mean 'Manners'? And not a river. It's an abandoned quarry. BAND-MAID hav done anime theme songs. I would suggest either the season two closer from the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura, 'Shambles', or 'the OMV for 'Unleashed' in which they appear in anime form.
