@@PeterYMao But all we've seen Harada smashing noobs with Feng at EVO :) and of course the Iron Grandpa himself. I think Feng has a bright future in Tekken, unless Murray doesn't like him for whatever reason.
Feng is the epitome of "a death by a thousand paper cuts". He can just poke you to death and being 0 on his df1 leads to tasty setups. I love him. The open ended play style really suits me.
As a feng player who's been playing for a while, yeah this tutorial is pretty much a perfect place too start. Just enough to digest and goes over the important stuff when first starting out. Feng is such a sick character. On one side it kinda sucks you don't see too much of him bc people are busy with other characters, BUT it is nice that because of this, it's an easier time shmixing people up and being able to do what you want. With certain limitations of course bc feng isn't SUPER great, but mostly just very solid and definitely a fun character to just pick up.
Dang! Thanks so much CaptainSkelly :) I really appreciate the compliment. I tried to makes these guides easy to understand for beginners and enough to cover the "overall" idea of how to use them.
Wow. This came out at just the right time for me. I just picked this character up last month, getting back into Tekken 7. I got to start substituting that new df 4,3 punish over hopkick(been using it way too much).
Hey Peter, a few extra side notes about some things: d/f+1 on CH does actually guarantee a sidestep into u/f+2 or sidestep shoulder when the enemy's back is against the wall, and QCF 1 actually can't be low parried since it's a shoulder. Thank you for the video! Great production quality, I hope Feng gets more love now that he's gotten some quality of life buffs in S4
Hey Ivan! Thanks for watching the video man! I hope that it was good :). Also are you sure about the d/f+1 on CH gives you guaranteed stuff? Please double check that for me as I don’t think you do. I haven’t gotten around to testing it myself yet
@@PeterYMao I saw videos on it in the feng discord a couple months ago, apparently you can even get a guaranteed dash into SSL u/f+2 in the open but it's almost frame perfect. As for the wall tech, yeah SSL into u/f+2 or SWR into shoulder hit in the back or sides depending on how deep you step or walk. 32 and 44 damage respectively, both lose wall position though, no splat on the shoulder either. Note that for the shoulder to connect their back has to be touching the wall, while the u/f+2 can be a few steps away from the wall
Really like the effort and commitment you put in making the videos Peter. You practically made Feng your second main probably for this guide ! Hats off !
Great video as always peter!, Picked up feng this season and never regreted it! I wanted to leave a quick backturned guide here because it has so much mix up potential and is a strong tool in his gameplan : Backturn can be accessed manualy with b3~4 or by holding back on the third hit of these strings : -3,3,4 -1,2,2 -2,4,1 if your opponent doesn't respect you when you go into the stance you can finish the strings without going into the stance. your key move in the stance are : 1+2: safe mid can cover most wakeup options but has short range 3:plus on block mid CH launcher but very slow 2,2:fast mid range mid, launches on second hit CH but -13 on block d3: basically backturned snake edge launchs on normal hit but use it carefully because it's basically death on block 1+4/2+3: chunky 50 damage throw used to mix up with other options can be broken Also wanted to add I'm not a feng expert so if I missed anything or is wrong about something please tell
Thank you for the info NST-Namo! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment man. Those are definitely Feng's options out of backturn! You forgot he has backturn 1 jab which gives him a guaranteed shoulder if the 1 hits. ;)
@@PeterYMao No need to thank me peter just showing beginners the wei, didn't really talk about the other options from BT because I personaly never use them, also forgot to add that that you get a free BT d3 if the 4 in 3,3,4 hit it's quite risky but good damage.
It's worth mentioning that BT d4 is one of his safest options out of backturn, I always use it after 1, 2, 2 BT, (can be low parried though) and when cancelling BT you should usually hold d/b instead of just back since it moves him back a considerable distance and high crushes. Not backturn, but also important: 1, 1 is good to mix into your poking game, since the second hit is a mid that launches on CH. If you keep poking with 1 and your opponent challenges right after it try 1, 1 occasionally.

Feng main here, one move i did feel was left a little out is sidestep+2, it's a long range poke that leaves Feng at +3 for some reason, and you can get away with a lot of bullshit because its just not clear to the opponent that its Feng's turn again. I do wish T7 would make blockframes a lot more clear, because it never really feels good to win a match suspecting that your opponent was simply missing key information on a niche character :/ Also, excellent guide for beginners! I think you got almost every broad aspect of him right, and limiting the scope here seems really appropriate. Just overall a good video :)
Yeah, I couldn't find room for sidestep 2. It's kinda hard to do that with how many moves I have already included xD. I wanted to keep the video under 20 minutes if it was possible :) Also thank you for appreciating the guide.

hi Peter, as always, nice video and customization. I think you covered all basic moves. Feng is my second main, so I know quite a bit about him. You are absolutely right that Feng is a heavy poke character. But his poking and 50/50 game plan only work at a very close range. The key of using him is to stay as close to your component as possible. In my opinion, Feng is a mediocre character. At low level, people can fail to your poking because they don't know his moves. But a higher level, Feng is lack of everything. For that reason, you rarely see Feng in a tournament. Unlike Paul Phoenix, it is very difficult to make a comeback with Feng since he needs to stay close to your opponent to make it work. Hi Peter, i hope to see a King guide some day 🎉 I have planned to start an arcade joystick and button review content for 1.5 years now so i understand how much effort making videos take and how busy life can be so no worries if ypu don't get to it.
Okay lol a week ago I realised that Feng players always steamroll me and never rematch for some reason so I'm trying to find as much info on the character to beat him and you make this video. 😂 Also, from what I gather Feng is considered mid-low tier but the more I look into him the more solid he looks. Like at least higher-mid tier.
@@PeterYMao maybe he feels that way because I don't know the matchup but I prefer playing any other annoying character like Hworang, Asuka, Leroy, Fahk, Zafina, Lei, Xiaoyu. At least these players usually rematch so I've had some experience against them.
As a Feng user, I agree with Peter that Feng is a mid to mid low. The key to fight against Feng is to stay far away from him to avoid his mix-up. Don't be in his range. Back dash as much as you can to avoid all of his key moves. His key moves only work in a very short range. If you want to learn in depth about Feng, watch Caiper video (he is one of the best Feng tournament player in Europe). Feng was OP in Tekken 5, but he now falls way behind new comers like Leroy, Zafina, and Fahk.

You're welcome Jay L.
I dont plan on using Feng but this is valuable info to counter Feng
Absolutely. Just reverse engineer it.
These guides are great! Will you be doing a Lei guide?
Hmmm, let me think about that one. Depending on how popular Lei is, I'll decide on that.
"If you're not using b1, you're not using -Feng- Bryan right" :P
LOL.
Peter's not wrong though. It's like a interrupt jab on roids IMO, just a little bit more unwieldy.
+6 gang
Im newbie in tekken, pls tell.me what is b1
@@qalamahmadkhazain6220 b1 or "back one" is a move that both bryan and feng can use
Millions thanks for this video.
You're welcome Adobli!
Nice a Feng guide :)
Thank Nutella!!
Very good quality, presenting and visual experience, it was entertaining to was great tutorial.
I will test out Feng, I feel he can suit my play style. Otherwise it's still a good tutorial to know how to counter Feng.
Absolutely Sigtyr! This was definitely a tutorial I was working on for a long time :)
Your more better than Mainwa. I'll rate you teaching 100/100
Damn! 100/100?! Shooooot! Thanks ^_^
Just thought I'd mention something if you are frame perfect, after df, 3,4 +13 on hit b,1+2 is guaranteed. But it's situational.
Please show me a video of this working, as a combo.
Hi Peter, i hope to see a King guide some day 🎉
I have planned to start an arcade joystick and button review content for 1.5 years now so i understand how much effort making videos take and how busy life can be so no worries if ypu don't get to it.
This is such a good video, really helped me out!
You already know why I'm playing this character 🤣💪
? Why are you playing this character?
@@PeterYMao baki dou lmao "Retsu kaio"
Okay lol a week ago I realised that Feng players always steamroll me and never rematch for some reason so I'm trying to find as much info on the character to beat him and you make this video. 😂
Also, from what I gather Feng is considered mid-low tier but the more I look into him the more solid he looks. Like at least higher-mid tier.
He is definitely mid to mid low. Certain match ups he does well other ones he really struggles.
Great video im about to play feng now
Good luck!
Thank youuuu btw your armor king vid was helpful
Happy to help ya man :)
This video was great. Helped me decide not to choose Feng. I dont see any other videos like this on your channel. Am i missing something? I hope so :) Looking for MR, Leo, Josie, and Shaheen. Thanks!
I'm working on other ones. These take a lot of time to make.
PeterYMao I don’t doubt that. This was VERY well done. Most of these just go through move lists. I like that you described tactics and uses. As a total beginner, it’s overwhelming so this helped
Feng is just such a cool character. Really surprised that he's such an unpopular pick for people.
He's becoming more popular.
I hope you can bring more Feng.
It will serve as a guide on how to beat him😈
We'll see ^_^
i was thinking about picking up the character myself
And now ya can ^_^ Feng is super fun to play and you kinda have to be creative with him to be good.
@@PeterYMao that explains why not alot of ppl use him despite how good he is
Ive been playing Bryan thanks to your guides so whynot Feng 👍
Hahaha, hope you enjoyed the guide ^_^
great tuto mister, many thanks
