It's so weird how Disney Channel stars like Cole Sprouse, Zendaya, China Anne McClain, etc. played middle/high schoolers in the early 2000s, and like 10-15 years later they're still playing high schoolers.
Because Disney has the technology and power to make their child Stars continuing acting like high schoolers and model types after they left the nest. Maybe it’s selling ones soul to appear young and influential.

The issue was that Woody’s a slob, and Cody is a neat freak and thought he was finally free of having a messy roommate. Didn’t have anything to do with his weight
Yeah that's what I thought too but I think he just meant that Woody seemed to be the fat guy stereotype with his sloppiness and whatnot.
@Anshika N I mean I've heard of fat people being called lazy and sloppy, which is why they're fat to begin with according to them.
@Anshika N it's especially bad in asian shows and novels. They're usually portrayed as lazy, dumb, and sweaty. Not to mention being "affectionately" called lil fatty or fatso. A huge problem I have is when a girl or guy loses a bunch of weight and they suddenly become popular and successful. But ofc the message is still inner beauty and whatnot after they obtain and keep that outer beauty 🙄
I saw it as more of he’s a slob and Cody is a neat freak
You're all wrong. He asks if he already used the bathroom, and then the fat guy says he "broke it in" and rubs his gut. It's a joke that fat people shit really heavily and badly because of everything they eat, and how gross the toilet would be after, so it actually is a weight joke
I don't think the joke was that the roommate's fat, it's that he's dirty and gross... Y'know clothes all over the floor and blowing up the bathroom??

As I heard it, the Sprouse twins pitched the idea of a Zack and Cody goes to college show or something to that affect. The executives laughed it off then, but a year later they approached the twins with a show that sounded very similar to the one they had pitched. Tables turned and Dylan and Cole laughed off the executives, thus ending on bad terms with the Disney Company.
Also, Demi Lovato got an eating disorder thanks to the pressures of working as a Disney star...
I don’t think the new show would have included the Sprouses as actors (since I do remember them saying that they wanted to go to college) but maybe as executive producers or something along those lines. I just remember one of them saying in an interview that they wanted to set up some sort of new show/spinoff so that the crew wouldn’t lose their jobs.
That random comment at the end lol
@@andreamolinar6883 Yea, I don't all the details, I just saw a clip of an interview with one of them where they said something about Disney trying to pitch them the same show they had pitched. YESS! They really tried to make the twins complete opposites, and apparently the best way for them to do that was by making Cody a huge nerd, and keeping Zack the same. They made him someone obsessed with knowledge and science (he was, but I don’t think to that extent they portrayed) and they made him a huge baby. FACTS: Everyone's heard of the show, London is iconic, and Cody was upset about the unhygienic state of his room not the weight of his roommate.
The thing Alex was right about was the affect the Disney company has had on its stars. Hollywood in general has a reputation for ruining children, a lot of child stars have come out about the abuse of children but it always seems to be swept under the rug and it's sad and horrible.
I said it to someone else here, too, but if you the bathroom joke had nothing to do with him being "fat", you are delusional.
DIsney, being a show with the most shows worth actual kids, will obviously seem like THE problem when the problem is the industry itself. Having more shows just means having more kids to fuck up. I’m always alarmed at how many parents have no problem now directly supervising their own kids. If my daughter were to be cast in a show, I’d be a thorn in the side of the company since I’d be right there watching over her myself, not trusting whatever rando a bunch of execs with a financial agenda hired to look the other way. Discouraging parental involvement, and parents who don’t want to be on set when they’re allowed to be, is horrible. Brooke Shields’s mother was notorious in the industry when her daughter was a minor since she was always there to make sure her daughter’s rights were protected, that she wasn’t harmed, that she could take downtime when she needed, etc.
@@Author.Noelle.Alexandria Brook Shields doesn't seem too messed up in her public life but who knows what she has gone through personally. She was so super sexualized basically to the point that it was pedophilic when she was young child, whether her mother sanctioned it or not it is evil to put a child into those kinds of compromising positions.
@@jaday7282 It's not delusional to interpret it as a slob joke rather than a fat joke. Woody is a slob, and Cody was afraid of how gross the bathroom would be - because a slob is messy, and you don't want to be messy when you use the toilet. Maybe it is a fat joke, but it makes sense the other way too. I didn't see it as a fat joke because I wouldn't even call him fat. He's overweight, yeah, but it's not like it's very much
Wasn't the show's producer or whoever actually arrested for...some VERY illegal things including children?

True Crime Streets Of LA and Sleeping Dogs had Asian leads as well. they're games, tho.
I loved it and I'm about as white as they come. Might have helped that I thought Brenda Song was hot though.
I don't like the term "Asian", it's way too general. 4.5 billion people live in Asia and half of them are not from East Asia. An Afghani kid isn't going to feel represented by Wendy Wu even though they're just as "Asian" as a Chinese kid. We need to be more specific if we're talking about representation.
Obi-Wan Kenobi I mean, I agree with you. I’m Southeast Asian 🇻🇳 and often use the word “Asian” to describe my identity generally and narrow in on the regional aspect when relevant. The privilege of having more characters who look like me in Disney’s media (and media in general) sometimes makes me forget that my view and experience is only one piece of the AAPI experience. Is there a term you prefer?
I think Disney is starting to understand that “Asia” and “Asian” representation are not monoliths or one size fits all. The recent “Raya and the Last Dragon” focuses on Southeast Asian lore and culture. And I think Disney’s South Asian representation needs to extend beyond just India. The region is sprawling and wonderfully diverse. And I hope in the future to see more representation for West, South, and Central Asia.
All of this to say, I didn’t mean to be exclusive. Sorry I didn’t nuance my reply better.
@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi understandable. i think the better term would be middle eastern/central asian. even those ethnicities in my country who are either half or fully asian have entirely different cultures that may have been influenced by mongolia to a certain extent, but they became their own thing

Gosh, Idk anyone who didn't watch at least one Disney Channel show. Even into high school, I stayed for the finale of each show from my childhood and still sobbed my eyes out. I specifically remember Wizards of Waverly Place, I balled at the ending of such an iconic show. I got to meet the actor for Mr. Larrytate and he was amazing
I mostly agree, but then i think of shows like julie and the phantoms and andi mack, both shows that are actually very mature and wholesome and actually have pretty valid queer representaion, which is very rare for kids shows
“The show everyone forgot”- This is literally my favorite Disney Channel show of all time...
Yeah my parents didn't pay for cable until 2009 so I almost never watched the Suite Life of Zack and Cody growing up but I did watch Suite Life on Deck. It's more prominent in my mind.
0:15 Jessie and Bunk’d...
Cole and Dylan Sprouse and Zack and Cody are the icons of my childhood
You wanna talk about a Disney show everyone forgot. 3 words: Life With Derek!!!
huh?
who tf is Derek?
Who’s Derek-
What a throwback, that show was odd 😅 then again it was produced in Canada so things were different
I would love if he did a video about Life with Derek
i never forget.
i still know the theme song word for word.
tbh, i grew up with this show, and i really genuinely like it. looking forward to watching someone talk about it lol
"Most girls don't care about a guy's personality, all they want is looks." - yes, correct. Except that when people look at women thinking this way, they think it's shallow - while every guy on earth likes women first and foremost because they find those women physically attractive - and, somehow, magically guys are not seen as shallow for thinking this. It's just seen as normal and natural when guys place women's looks first and their personality/any other trait as secondary to this. No one even bats an eye at this because it's seen as so normal and natural. But women are demonized for being attracted to guys they find, you know, physically attractive?
Had to like because no one else would because the truth hurts
Well he thinks men do the same thing and he makes fun of them for that also if you watched his other videos
Although people do tend to go after someone they find attractive. At the same time, it makes someone shallow when they're outright rude about their preferences of what is deemed attractive. A guy not fitting your preference doesn't make him any less of a man than the guy you're attracted to. When you start behaving like that, that is where you're called shallow. The same goes for guys. A girl being taller than most guys doesn't make her any less of a woman than a girl who is on the average or short side. What gets annoying is when people become extremely shallow and just try to disregard it as their preferences of what they find attractive.
Bc men "rule the world" apparently and can do no wrong whatsoever (especially if you ask their mothers/grandmothers/etc) 🙄
when
“no ones favorite character” one of my favorites characters was london tipton...
Exactly no one lol
Judah August 😭😭
Right, London was my favorite character, like what's he smoking lol
Exactly, her and Moseby were the face of this show
I think he’s being sarcastic
I never took it as fat kid jokes I took it was Cody was uncomfortable with how messy the room for because he is known for being a neat freak
How does anyone NOT remember this show? I grew up liking this more than the suite life of Zach and Cody
Omg same! I actually loved this show as a kid and teen. Especially how they made Mosbey have a full character arc and eventually get a really wholesome ending.
@@lulub517 Moseby deserved good things 😤💕💕
Bailey’s character was kinda weird? Like her character went from being “better than Cody” to like- almost ‘downgrading’ to being Female Cody
Which is kind of sad
The more she expressed herself the less people thought she was “cool” and “pretty”
This video is very well made, but some of your takes are just objectively bad. Cody doesn’t dislike Woody because he’s “fat,” like, seriously? You said that you were a “fat kid,” so maybe it sits a little more close to home for you but.. Cody is unhappy about his new roommate being messy and taking a fat shit in the bathroom, how does that equate to Cody not wanting to room with a fat kid? Also, no one forgot about this show. Everyone loved the original Suite Life, and I can’t speak for everyone here, but I loved ‘on Deck’ as well. Overall great vid tho.
Yeah I really think it wasn’t about Woody being fat because Zack’s roommate Marcus is slightly fat but he’s not gross
Agreed. And how helooked over Wendy wu when it was very influential for Asian girls growing up. I am not Asian myself, but Wendy wu was one of the most memorable movies to me and was influential for me because she was a girl boss. Seeing women warriors always inspired me because of the lack of girls being represented as strong and hero like growing up. And I understand that wasn't his experi3nce and everyone has the right to his opinion but it felt a little weird.
Here are somethings you need to know alex:
1. London was iconic! We all love her character ❤️
2. No one forgot this show. We still remember all the episodes and the show was great!
3. Cody was not making fun of woody because he was fat. Cody is a neat freak and that whole scene is about cody finding out that his new roommate is messier than Zack.
You just missed a lot of information in this vid.
THIS! London is not my least favorite character, and I don't think Woody's weight was ever an issue. He's just a mess. I wouldn't want to be his roommate either
@@JessyChi exactly! Woody was a mess 🤣
Exactly! Like a lot of people forget that they made a lot of similar jokes about Zack too, like picking his nose or having a really messy and stinky room, just being gross. I like Woody cause he's so nice and friendly, he's like a giant teddy bear
I think it's about how disney portray the kid to have bigger body = disgusting.. like why?
@@kashafimani Zach was just like him but not fat, also Marcus have a similar body structure and he wasn't like that
Everyone?!? That snakes on the boat and paris episode is iconic.
“ and everyone’s least favourite character, London Tipton “
eXcUeE MeEeeeE she was an *icon*
I can say my way of thinking has been changed pretty drastically after 2 semesters of med school. When I heard the part where Zack said, "I'm gonna study anatomy," I was like 'How am I even supposed to believe this show? Like anyone in their right state of mind would actually want to study anatomy when they are not forced to.' When I saw the rest of the scene, it was the 'Oh...' kind of moment.
Fun fact: This show was Disney’s second spinoff series to a popular show. Cory in the House was the first spinoff series.
EDIT: Guys, I got it already. It's not a spinoff, but rather a sequel series. REGARDLESS, it still counts as Disney's SECOND CONTINUATION series of a popular show. That's where I was getting at. (However, the show's wikipedia page officially calls it both sequel/spinoff. Therefore, it's also Disney's second spinoff after CitH... So I dunno.) So you can stop replying to me with the same answers now.
It wasn't a spinoff tho
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 It was a spin-off of That So Raven.
@@kcchameleonprodz I was talking about On Deck.
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 Yeah, it's more of retool

I tooootally forgot bailey was posing as a boy at the beginning
It kind makes me think of how interesting Bailey's storyline could have been if she actually identified as male and was actually using this opportunity to transition away from his transphobic family.
Because most of Disney "pilot" episodes are so disconnected from the show, that even after watching them you think "wait, what?!". If pilot episode is first episode you watched then more than one episode is confusing. If pilot is watched after some episodes then pilot is hella confusing.
You see the twins here and be so proud of them, then you watch Riverdale 😬
WAIT, THAT GUY FROM THE "I'M WEIRD" LINE IS ONE OF THEM???
yeah he’s cody
@@Nuti196 lol yup 😂
In his defense he is an amazing actor in the show with the material he is given and was also great in the movie Five Feet Apart. And Dylan's recent acting projects were amazing as well
@@16050390 nobody can disagree with that
“Has not done anything since”
*Meanwhile Bunk’d is hiding its existence in the corner*
-Jessie was on its final season.
-Stars half the kids and the others are not at the camp for... reasons...
-Now slowly -kill- change out the kids off as we try to make new stars
*FLAWLESS*
Edit: Bunk’d is getting a 5th season. Out of the ashes the show comes!
Lab rats island show too
@@jypsych3556 The lab rats show was a crossover show since it combined two disney shows.
thank god someone thought the same thing
literally right after he said that I was like “Bunk’d”😂
Life with Derek is the Disney show everyone ACTUALLY forgot
Yes!! I was trying to find the show but can’t. After finding out what was really going on oh dang!!
Yesss! He needs to react to that show!!
It was Disney? It wasn't a Nickelodeon show?
@@littlesparrow303 Wdym?
@@freyjacooper9082 apparently within the show Derek & Casey you know being step siblings. Apparently there was indications there was something more between them besides as family members. Yeah I’m talking about the actor & actress who played them even shipped them. Wtf 😂
They had an idea for a show to introduce a character into their own show. They had it all ready to go, they wanted to produce and write it so they would have those credits on their resume, and when they went to the higher-ups in The Disney Machine, they laughed in their faces. Then Disney called them not long after and basically pitched the exact same idea to them, only they wouldn't be credited with writer/producer. So they left Disney. Good on them.
@4:40-4:56 he talks about how girls didnt like him not because of his weight, but because of his personality.
@5:17-5:36 then talks about how girls dont date guys for their personality in high school.
"The show we all forgot",
"Everyones least favorite- london tipton"
I do not think this man is qualified to critique anymore
Did anyone else hate Bailey? There was just something about her I never liked
As someone who's name is Bailey, this makes me laugh lmao it's so tru
I didn’t like her because she replaced Maddie (my favorite character)
yes i dont really bailey also
same,
Honestly, she was probably my favorite.
Can we get a “Cory in the House” review? This show is not talked about enough
It was a pretty good show actually.... kinda forgot it even existed
One of the best animes we ever had.
🎶 Cory Cory Cory in the house! 🎶
I mean, this is like the only Disney show that I ever rewatched..... TWICE
Honestly the writing and acting on it was quite a bit better than almost anything else on Disney channel ever other than maybe later seasons wizards of Waverly place
2:06 excuse me, did you say least favorite? she's an icon
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when this show came out I wanted Bailey and Zack to date but then she ended up with Cody 🤣
Seconded, I always thought that Bailey had far more chemistry with Zack than with Cody, since they always seemed to be at each other's throats!
@@trinaq yeah!! Zack & Bailey seemed better together & Cody was still way too sensitive
Bruh the last episode of this show had me in TEARS omg when London said "I have a problem, I'm going to miss you " to Mr. Mosbey. It was over for my feelings.
Also the time Cody said "and I plan to shake my bons bons to every guy in paris." Like a witch and I died laughing.
lmao when Cody starts with “oR sO yOU tHInk, pArIS iS fULL oF mEN..” I die 💀😭
Omg that's my favorite episode lol my friend and I watch it and die laughing
9:02 ok so I know that’s over the top but that is one of my favorite jokes in the series
3:52 I mean guys do the exact same when they try to act like girls. They speak with a high voice, laugh hysterically etc etc..
as if i could ever forget my whole childhood
I think the main thing about Woody was that he was messy and Cody was such a clean freak, but that could totally have been misconstrued on my end.
It's definitely the clean freak thing.
true true, but it’s also extremely common for fat characters to be negatively stereotyped in the manner that woody was. they made him sloppy, dirty, and gluttonous with really no redeeming or attractive qualities. i think the disgust cody (and other characters) showed towards him being rooted in fatphobia is subtextual.
@@elblooderino thats a really great point! It could be that that was the subliminal message, intentional or not. Its also a really unfortunate fact
@@elblooderino but Zack wasn't fat and they did the same "clean freak rooming with a slob" with Zack and Bailey.
@@JT7Blu i mentioned this in another comment thread, but one major difference between zack and woody - even though they both share the character traits of being sloppy, lazy, and lacking in the intelligence department - is that zack is given other redeeming traits that allow him to be perceived as attractive by other characters. one of zack’s strong suits is his social skills, and that gives him the role of a ~cool lady’s man~ or whatever within the narrative despite his flaws. woody, on the other hand, has no redeeming qualities that could balance his flaws like zack does and a big reason why is because his character is pigeonholed by his physical appearance (i mean, people literally pick on him because of this in the show). the treatment of these two characters is rooted in lookism culture, with fatphobia being a large component of it. how often do we get to see fat characters be portrayed as cool, charismatic, consistently successful in romance (not by luck, and with romantic interests who are also perceived as attractive in the narrative)? not often, because the utility of fat characters typically begins and ends at making them sources of humor - usually at their own expense - and people to be disgusted by.
True Brenda Song's Kungfu movie is pretty under-rated, but EVERYONE saw her Pass the Plate segments!
You unlocked a hidden memory I didnt even know I had
I remember those pass the plate commercials in the early 2010s
I forgot about that movie
I remember her pomegranate one so vividly, too

who's everyone?? I sure as hell never forgot this iconic show 😤😭
Alex: Suite Life on Deck is forgotten.
Also Alex: *a lot of you have been asking for this* 0:22
Fun Fact: My friends actually did throw potatoes at each others heads. Long story short they went to the hospital and on my friends medical record it says "Patient was struck by potato"
Literally every single thing that was said in this video was either a) negative as hell or b) completely untrue.
Am I the only dumb person who always thought as a kid that the suite life of zack & cody and the suite life on deck were the same show with the only difference being that they were different seasons?
I can't speak for everyone, but I always knew they were different shows. They had different titles and were advertised as different shows. Even the guide gave them different titles.
I mean you wouldn't be entirely wrong. The Suite Life of Zack and Cody towards the last season was about the same as the Second Season of Suite Life on Deck in a sense where characters would randomly disappear for most of the season, and characters that haven't been seen since the first season come back as focus characters across several episodes.. not to mention the random introduction of a character that everyone seems to forget about when talking about a reunion lmao.
I mean I never even knew of the suite life of zack and Cody until recently, I had only ever watched suite life on deck
Today is the day I learned they were different shows, so no.
How are they not the same? I mean isnt a direct sequel Like DBZ to dragon ball ?
I actually watched Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, and it was one of the very few Disney movies of the time that I was allowed to watch.
