Painters are always elevated in the long run brother. The amount of mind time we have doing the craft will drive a person insane if not properly managed. Much respect 🙏 namaste brother.
It's nice that your area has an up to date shop. I don't know any shops in my area that are like the one you are at. They definitely aren't going to let a potential hire tour the shop. It's their way or the highway for the employee!
I won’t mention the shop name where I’m the main refinisher, but it’s really, really old & the only ppl working there ( the bodyman & the guy who was the painter) have been there for over 18 yrs!! The shop mgr & myself really try to make this shop more efficient by doing “ modern “ changes to improve efficiency but it’s hard since certain individuals don’t want to change & when we try something different, it works for a very short time then just goes back to the same routine it was before!! I’ve given up trying to teach these techs some new things, any advice you can give me would help. Thank you
Sounds like the tail is wagging the dog.the manager needs to put his foot down and not go back on what changes are made to better the shop. If they can't change manager should look for new people. Or I would be out myself.
Interesting video Kandy Man, you have a fantastic shop there with the latest tech with everything paperless and providing the tech works like it should it will make life easier for the painter and be more productive for the company, I've never seen a compressor setup like that before where it alternates between the 2 pumps which is a great idea as they normally have both pumps working together. 🙏🙏👍John UK.
I was scared to be flat rate until I saw how much I was making and very little screw ups I was producing every time I finished a car I always had a feeling of accomplishment
Bro I look in the mirror and sometimes it scared the hell out of me so I quit beer over a yr ago and quit smoking 4mnths ago and noticed after a while work got easier and better like you my shop is top of the range so doing crappy work only comes from your self a bad workman always blames his tools keep these motivational vids comming bro 👍👍👍👍👍
I saw shops still do the old way cut parts in then put them on the car then paint them that holds up the production so much but the shop owner didn’t want to change because they been doing that for 40 years
Sadly in Ohio this business is suffering a great lack of people wanting to do the work. And to find someone who can do it at a high level while producing enough is even harder.
One thing I have always looked at besides the facilities is how long their current staff has been there. What's their turnover? Shop that always running ads for techs is a red flag to me. I do not like moving around, it reflects poorly on oneself.
Definitely consider what the flat rate pay is. I took a huge pay cut prepping cars at a dealership to work at a small family owned business spraying solvent. Hopefully learn what I can and get back on commission soon. These videos are very helpful!
