I am 67 and into rock, used to be a rock and roll booking agent and manager and thought "no way he could replace Steve" but this guy has pipes! Good for him. Steve Perry is doing his solo journey (no pun intended) and I am so happy for him. He deserves it.
Thing a lot of fans need to realise these guys ain't here to replace the original members but they give their all to carry on the legacy's. This song requires unbelievable high notes. One of the hardest songs to sing. Very few singers can nail this classic song. Arnel gives justice to this song from legendary band Journey.
It’s a tough song, but i think Separate Ways is a little more of a challenge, due to the chorus. In order to sing the main lyrics, requires more vocal push, then a high note finish... very tough song to do live

It has to do with the legal issues of buying the rights to the story and whether or not the producers wanted to make a biographical film or not. The same thing was true about the NASCAR movie Days of Thunder. Tom Cruise’s character was based on the driver Tim Richmond, but since the rights to Tim Richmond’s story were owned by Hal Needham, they created a fictional movie around the character that was based on a real person, and changed the name of the character. All I’m saying is that Arnel is not the first tribute singer that got to sing for the real band.

There's a reason why the show, Shogun wouldn't be called historical for the Japanese, because the characters were loosely based on historical people. Haven't listened to Journey with new singer till recently? My younger brother recently went to a Journey show on Oahu..He sent me a video of a couple of my favorite songs.. Having seen this band many times & being a huge fan starting in 1970s I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised and once again can say as a 5th generation Californian who grew up with Journey...They still Rock! I'll never Stop Believing!!!✌💜🙏

At first I was like “ it’s not Steve, it won’t be good” but holy damn I shed some tears listening to this guy singing. He doesn’t the raw power Steve had but this guy has a much purity in his voice, it’s so touching listening to him.
Easily among the hardest vocal catalogs to perform live, on tour, for years. Little wonder it burns through lead singers - starting with Steve himself. It is a tribute to the sheer gift and talent of Steve Perry to have sung these soaring lines first in his thirties, and to Arnel Pineda to have done it justice, starting in his forties, for 10 years. Been my privilege to have experienced them both, real time.
This is my late husband's favorite song. Upon hearing it, it became my favorite song too. Arnel sings it best in his eatly years. Really really love the song. Makes me remember all the blessings with my late husband and the fact that now, i face all life's challenges everyday, alone.

Journey was lucky to get someone with similar vocal ability and great show skills to fill in for lead singer. The song in itself has that great piano hook chord up front. I’m learning piano in my free time and hope cover some of it 😀

So many people say so many things not worth saying. For a true Steve Perry fan, they know he would be honored to hear Arnel killing it the way he has and silenced anyone who said different. He’s not Steve, he can’t be and he knows that but he still shows up, loves it, and gives you all he’s got for every second of the show you paid for. This is by far the cleanest live recording I ever watch in all of their tour concerts. Kudos to the technicians and sound engineers.
Impressive also for Arnel to pull off such clean vocals after a full concert set.

This is my late husband's favorite song. Upon hearing it, it became my favorite song too. Arnel sings it best in his eatly years. Really really love the song. Makes me remember all the blessings with my late husband and the fact that now, i face all life's challenges everyday, alone.

His voice is so pure, he hits the notes so good that it sounds like a studio version yet you obviously hear that it's live. And this guy is just a bomb full of positive energy, just look how he walks to every member of the band showing the attention and sharing his emotions with them, just look how he communicates with the audience. He's just fucking amazing. And i dont even know who this guy is !! But he's a true professional who just loves his job.

So many people say so many things not worth saying. For a true Steve Perry fan, they know he would be honored to hear Arnel killing it the way he has and silenced anyone who said different. He’s not Steve, he can’t be and he knows that but he still shows up, loves it, and gives you all he’s got for every second of the show you paid for. I am grateful for that and i have not seen anyone that can do it better!
