      Thank you for the review. It is very helpful for my camino. But in order not to pick up / spread bedbugs I wouldn't put my backpack on the bed or spread all my things on it.

      You're welcome! I'm glad it helped! Good point, put your sleeping bag first and then any items on top if you need to. Unless you do a RUclips Video :) @@anjabaumgart4606

    Thank you so much for this video Jessie. I live in South Australia. I will be doing the Camino next June. You information has helped me to reasses my backpack size and minimise what I will take.
    I get very cold so that is a down side. I will have to be choozy on what I will take to keep warm. ❤

      I’m so glad I could help and you will leave some things at home! I haven’t ever regretted not having something but I did regret carrying too much! I get cold easily as well, a fleece jacket and a medium sleeping bag will definitely do the job in June! Remember it’s summer by then in Europe :) Buen Camino to Australia!

    Did you mention getting bed bugs? Any advice?

    • @jessimoves
      @jessimoves  3 месяца назад

      I’ll make a video on it as so many people are worried about it. But don’t let the fear creep in. It’s part of the Camino :)
      Some tips:
      🐜 I would advise always using a bed sheet, even the ones you get at the Albergue.
      🐜 You can spray your sleeping bag and clothes with an insecticide beforehand.
      🐜Don't put your backpack or anything else on your bed mattress as the bugs are usually in there and will then travel with you :)
      🐜 You can check your mattress with a flashlight as they usually hide in there.
      But I have done the Camino twice and only got it one single time. Good luck! Buen Camino

    So ... do you know about how much your backpack weighed, fully loaded?

    • @jessimoves
      @jessimoves  2 месяца назад

      @@wanderlustpilgrim unfortunately I can’t tell you as I never weighed it. Anywhere between 7 to 12 kilos? 😬 But I am convinced that this is the absolute minimum I was able to achieve.

    What is the name of the albergue? I will be finishing in May and would love a recommendation. Also, what would you suggest doing in Santiago? So many people must rush off to their "regular" lives, but I'd like to have some reflection time to consider what I have accomplished.

    • @jessimoves
      @jessimoves  Год назад +4

      This is such a good point, I'll make sure to do a video on what to do once you arrive in Santiago! The albergue is called: Albergue Seminario Menor. It is a short max 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Santiago, but a bit on a hill (which provides great views). A bed in the dorm is around 20 Euros, I booked a single room for 25 Euros because I was dying for some good sleep and leaving my stuff everywhere :) So if you usually stay in albuergues on the camino, you will love this one. If you are used to something a tiny bit more luxurious, you might also book an air bnb and enjoy your accomplishment! I still wanted the pilgrim vibes, so loved the Seminario. It does close at midnight. I always made sure I have a couple of days in Santiago. To make sure I don't have to rush in on a specific day and also to take it all in once I get there. Some pilgrims rest and keep walking to Finisterre. Some leave right away. I made sure I have time for a Michelin star restaurant, sit on the plaza for 2 days straight and see friends and strangers walk in, enjoy the last days with my Camino family and reflect on the camino. Your body still wants to keep moving, so I walked around alot! :) Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions! Buen Camino! x
