I like to think Wario’s origin story in the next Mario movie will be similar to the one here. Except, altered to make more sense. Maybe they’ll even reveal that Wario was a nick name Mario or the other kids called him as a way to tease him. Wario was always a jealous, uncreative, unoriginal, envious and greedy slob who always wanted to make Mario’s life miserable because of their own comparisons to each other. Wario saw Mario’s hard dedication to his commercial, looked at his own path in life and believes he can be better than him and by his own definition of “better” he meant copying him in his own style when he doesn’t know squat about plumbing businesses. He’s just that unoriginal and hungry for money. Also I believe Wario’s real name was Warren but decided to change it, mixing his own name with Mario’s to plagiarize him in everything Mario does and make fun of him.

Mario characters are napkin doodles. Mario characters are the path of least resistance. I used to love this series for its creativity, but that creativity seems to have gradually morphed from "how far cab we push the limits of our own imaginations" into "how far can we exploit a single granule of genuine creativity before people notice we're just collecting a fucking paycheck."
