Donkey Kong Stole my Banana. also great video. this opened my eyes to some more DK games I didn't know about, which could easily be great projects for us to do voice acting fan dubs of on the Hyper Frost Productions channel once we start doing Nintendo games.
If nothing else i hope the potential Donkey Kong movie and the in progress expansion to the theme parks renews interest in the character overall. Just watching the clip of him getting the fire flower is so cool; imagining him getting a Mario 3D World style game faith 4 playable characters, or making him more playable and present in mainline Mario games going forward. I just want something. DK is basically the reason Nintendo even exists as a video company and they try to pretend like the series doesn’t even exist anymore. Not as bad as some franchises but at least Samus got a brand new adventure on the Switch. I’d love to see something new with him, and just more Donkey Kong related stuff in general.

OMG I can't tell you how much I howled with laughter the first time I watched the video about all the members of the Kong Family, and right after the LifeAlert commercial, we smash cut to Mentok happily proclaiming "Wrinkly Kong!" 🤣🤣🤣 I still remember when I first learned that Wrinkly Kong passed away in DK64, thinking for some reason that after completing DKC3, there was a cutscene after you beat the game that Dixie and Kiddy raced back to Wrinkly's Save Cave to tell her the news that K. Rool was defeated, only to discover her lifeless body. Don't ask me why I thought this, but I totally did! I think it was around the time of lunch break rumors in the late 90s ('98 - '00 was when I was in middle school) along the lines of "Pikablu" and "If you use a specific Game Shark code, you can bring Aerith back to life in FF7", so I kind of concluded in my head that because I hadn't beat DKC3, there was totally a cutscene at the end that would depict Wrinkly Kong dying or already dead.

Honestly, i'd just assume that the Donkey Kong name was just heralded as some kind of cross-osmosis where Mario (and advertisements) calls Donkey Kong as some kind of title to sound cool, like goliath beetles. everyone other than the Kongs just coincidentally calls the ape that looks like Donkey Kong, and any babies that looks similar to him as Junior. so we and nintendo would call him donkey kong junior, but junior could just be a nickname that donkey kong gives to his son. living in the real world away from DK island probably did a number on Cranky's body. whereas Jr/the Current DK are probably far more primed due to bananas having magical powers in-series. i guess that DK island had leaders, just not ones called Donkey Kong, but Cranky started the trend of the leader being called Donkey Kong. would be kind of neat if it turned out that the Manky Kong line turned out due to a past Donkey Kong choosing Cranky as his protegé, or maybe something involving wooing Wrinkly. it'd be a kain and abel-type story. on the flip side, how do some of the other kongs gain their names at birth? was Funky already born cool? I don’t understand the anger over this phrase. It’s a commonly used expression and I didn’t use it to belittle anyone or be PC. I’ve literally seen people who have depression say they are “losing their battle and need help” when it gets tough. I wrote that segment to shed light on Erika and her work considering people meme the TV show all the time and probably don’t know the faces behind it. It’s okay not to like the expression but your comment comes off condescending, especially with that terrible racism/vacation analogy. Regardless, I hope you have a good one man.
