@@eternal2535 honestly im pretty sure the gargantuan leviathian can survive a nuke. The gargantuan leviathan is two kilometres whilst a nuclear explosion is only 400 metres. If i was stranded on 4546B I would just try to drown instead of face the gargantuan leviathan
This is why the game will always be scary 13:42 , that is pure terror a soulless black eyed leviathan sneaking up on you and trying to rip you out of your sub.
"How does it survive around here?" Well it did, till it didn't. When predators get too big for their environments they die from lack of space and food resources.
i would say that it probably died when the crater was created because the space that exists in the crater is way to small for a creature of that size, and it would make way more sense if it had enough space to live and then was killed by a giant asteroid.
This is exactly what I wanted from Subnautica and Below Zero. A creature so massive it boggles comprehension. Something that is beyond terrifying. A true leviathan.
what if it spawned farther out in the void where it fed on ghost leviathans, to give you another HUGE reason to not go there. Like if you managed to make it past the ghost leviathans, this thing just one shots whatever vehicle you're using.
That freaking reaper leviathan while looking for the gigantic one was the WORST experience, I was terrified, and IGP’s scream did not help. Omg that was scary. That is too funny, my reaction, at 1 in the morning.
I was on the ground It jump scared so hard and screamed at the the top of my lungs. Not even five nights at Freddy is as scary as this game given it’s always silent and I’m scared of the sea
"How does this thing survive?" There is a gigantic drop off at the edge of the map, so I'd imagine it would live there and eat ghost leviathans. I like to think the gargantuan leviathan isn't extinct; the one in the lost river just got stuck while hunting and wasn't able to get out.
That is interesting, imagine if they make an expansion where you can go over there and see even more skeletons, and find a huge cage with a gargantuan leviathan stuck in it.
In the PDA it says that the Gargantuan Leviathan died and over the time of three million years the planet shifted around the fossil. "The fossilized remains of an extinct super predator. Its sheer size would have prohibited it from entering such an enclosed space, suggesting the geography of the planet has shifted around it over time. A true apex predator." -PDA
I like the idea that the gargantuan swims circles around its largest prey to confuse them, since it’s so big and you can’t keep track of the head. It’s also super fast and has those lights to add to the effect. Sounds cool
As a Subnautica scaredy-cat who is afraid to leave the “safe areas” at night, the Seamoth sonar upgrade is a lifesaver sent from the heavens. I’m a lot more adventurous in the voids, that is until I run into a warper and then I do my best IGP scream impression.
14:30 that’s literally just like a scene straight out of a movie. The sonar pinging rhythmically as the deep bass follows each whenever it reaches the leviathan. Oooooooo, I don’t even know if that’s cause of editing. There’s no way the game would be able to produce the sound like that in correspondence with the sonar and it detecting it. It has to be editing. And as such, that means it was REALLY freakin good. Absolutely Awesome
I call that thing the Jormungandr Leviathan, because in my head cannon the last adult is encircling the entire map and it’s at the bottom of the void holding its tail in its mouth.
The gargantuan leviathan and other skeletal remains really makes us all feel like oceanographers for a time. For instance, how many other undiscovered leviathans are there on 4546B and how many extinct ones existed before our time, or perhaps do the types of species of the skeletons we find still exist somewhere, alive in the depths of 4546B? Is the frozen leviathan still alive and does it have living relatives? etc... You could make an endless series out of this kind of stuff. Gotta love Subnautica :)
There’s always a bigger fish -Quigon Jin The gargantuan leviathan probably goes into a dormant state when not engaged in hunting. It has large sensory organs that probably double as the bioluminescence bulbs. It feeds on other leviathans and possibly filter feeds when food is low. It’s like a sleeper shark. Being able to probably stay alive for years at a time while food grows around it. It’s definitely an omnivore as it would need to consume proteins much more often than not. Plants grow fast so yeah. Probably because of their large size they have a periods where a few wake up and then eat while others sleep. It’s also probably cancer resistant due to its large size in which it would get lots of cancer tumors. It might even participate in chemical making of proteins through consumption of chemicals and minerals in the water which might explain its biological bioluminescence which is a side effect. It probably feeds on reapers, ghosts, reefbacks, and other leviathans, which are a main source of energy for it. It probably also isn’t a picky eater and will eat everything it comes into contact with that’s not another gargantuan. It will have plenty of food on the bottom of the ocean. It is effectively the master of consuming all lifeforms. It probably naps in underwater caves which seem to be predominant on this planet. Theoretically the whole ecosystem is shaped by how many there are around an area.
@@DragonSlayerknowsdawae we don’t know that they’re all extinct, maybe they evolved to handle extreme depths and live in the depths where the sensory equipment can’t reach. For all what we know that one wasn’t dead very long as the lost river probably experiences lots of silt shiftage due to reaper Leviathans and currents. If it died let’s say around 100,000 years ago, it would be covered in sand and silt. So it must have died around when humans began to devolve technology. And assuming this is thousands of years away, it might have been around during the late Bronze Age. If you were to explore this planet you might find a it’s secession in genetic heritage or them being in a dormant state. If they made subnatica 3 and have it be in a different part of planet 4546B, you might be able to find a dormant gargantuan leviathan. It’s possible that they still exist because of large prey items like the trapped monster in subnautica: below zero and the existence of other emperor leviathans. But it’s still possible that it’s extinct due to changes in pray size and such. But it’s such a cool concept to imagine.
Honestly. The first message in this is a good theory. It would explain how such a massive lifeform can survive. Though, have you guys accounted for the fact that There are probably bigger levithans down in the void across the planet in areas we haven't explored? There are probably plenty of bigger levithans out there than this one

There's the voyd and it has a tone of big Leviathan's In it. Like the ghost Leviathan and stuff. Who knows, there could be bigger Leviathan class crechers in the deeper waters.
Fun fact: the adult gargantuan leviathion can swallow the cyclops when finished Edit: it can swallow reapers and sea dragons whole and can 3 shot adult ghosts
Just imagine being in the cyclops just casually going from A to B when suddenly your entire Sonar is being filled with one big red dot and the next thing you know is the adult leviathan charging at you and swallowing you in one chomp
this is what makes the void scary, for all we know, there could actually 'be' a Gargantuin Leviathan out in the void, and the only way it survives, is constantly feeding on Plankton as it swims, or on 'other' leviathan class organisms out in the void. The pda did say that there were only 2 types to be found in the void, and we never can go beyond the void or too deep, lore wise. So if a Gargantuin Leviathan were to still be alive, that is the only logical/possible place it could even 'hope' to live.
The only thing that could be scarier is a spider-like leviathan. Something with a prickly exoskeleton, many twitchy “legs”, fast swimming, and hella strength and screeching. Something that once you’ve seen it, you know you cannot escape and you _will_ die. But yeah, combine arachnophobia with thalassophobia and that kind of fear might just make people go into a coma, lol.

yea they obviously couldnt cuz something with that mass and size has to eat pretty much every second it lives and eventually some smaller creatures would gnaw away at the giant fuckers leading to their eventual death

I would say he's very low on the food chain. Since where we play is a volcano on the planet basically meaning we only play on one food chain meaning there's many more food chains and probably bigger fish.
@@gaughodge4781yeah but that’s just speculating, it’s a low possibility that the other creatures aren’t going to be as massive or as versatile as the gargantuan leviathan considering a size that big they’ll need a lot of space to manoeuvre around in order to survive.
Absolutely no fear because the energy it would expend if it chose to chase you would massively outsize the energy in sustenance you would give it, thus slowly starving it. It knows this, so it would go hunt some sea emperors instead because those are big enough to actually be worth chasing
First of all, it’s subnautica, we got aliens displaying a doomsday device like a museum piece, and second, if you think the radar is scary, wait until you are gliding through the dunes at night without radar, and suddenly this Cyclops sized creature comes charging at you from the darkness with no warning.
@@kumar9346 That might be the case with what we know about earth creatures, but who's to say that big giant thing isn't set up in some way where it does actually feed of smaller things? And even then it's probably fast enough that it could catch you if you tried to flee, even in a seamoth, and even more so in a cyclops which would to it look not much different than a big ghost leviathan snack. Point is, nature doesn't care if it should or shouldn't do something, it'll still try and kill you
"This creature remains stealthy until it has found a target" Man, how the hell he can remains stealthy with that massive size and that eerie scream that can be heard from kilometers away...
Remember the crater which is the entire map is just one tiny tiny piece of 4546b the planet itself is one giant ocean of at least 10,000 m deep I think you can imagine what sort of stuff is down there I wouldn’t be surprised if the gargantuan leviathan was only the second or third biggest predator
Dude... Just imagine you are a massive adult ghost leviathan looking for prey in the void, your bioluminecente body gives awai your location and attracts potencial prey wile your size scares other predators, everything around you is black and the only light ther is you, but suddenly you can feel a current spinning around you, then one, then two and then hundreds of crimson red eyes circles around you, you scream trying to scare whatever it is but instead it screens back, the ear pirncing sond of somethin much MUCH BIGGER than you, you try to swim down and escape but it's to late, IT already have you exactly where it wanted, you literally just swim down the jaws of death, the gargantuan leviathan. It remains stealthy until it encounters prey, not glowing, not moving and in complete silence. Whatever it feeds on could simply bump in its tail and that would be enough it trigger's the leviathan, and more, it has a long "mustache" that possible can feel movement in the water and the electrical signal's of the it's preys heart

Not just the vehicules you straight up just die with the last thing you see is but a fraction of its huge size
This is needed.
If this was a thing people would want to get out into the void even more just to say they beat the thing.

OooOoh nice one!!
That is interesting, imagine if they make an expansion where you can go over there and see even more skeletons, and find a huge cage with a gargantuan leviathan stuck in it.
In the PDA it says that the Gargantuan Leviathan died and over the time of three million years the planet shifted around the fossil.

As a Subnautica scaredy-cat who is afraid to leave the “safe areas” at night, the Seamoth sonar upgrade is a lifesaver sent from the heavens. I’m a lot more adventurous in the voids, that is until I run into a warper and then I do my best IGP scream impression.

Oooooooo, I don’t even know if that’s cause of editing. There’s no way the game would be able to produce the sound like that in correspondence with the sonar and it detecting it. Gotta love Subnautica :)
i do like to think that such massive creatures exist in the void

But what about in the morning?
There’s always a bigger fish
-Quigon Jin
The gargantuan leviathan probably goes into a dormant state when not engaged in hunting.
It probably ate other massive extinct leviathans like the one with precursor lights around it in the Lost River
Dude you just mate thet op or is this the truth if you mate it up je dan goed in making monsters bio
@@rolanddewit7160 it’s my theoretically analysis of it’s biological behavior

this is what makes the void scary, for all we know, there could actually 'be' a Gargantuin Leviathan out in the void, and the only way it survives, is constantly feeding on Plankton as it swims, or on 'other' leviathan class organisms out in the void. The pda did say that there were only 2 types to be found in the void, and we never can go beyond the void or too deep, lore wise.
So if a Gargantuin Leviathan were to still be alive, that is the only logical/possible place it could even 'hope' to live.
