Right?
Oh no, they fly.

As someone who is terrified of the deep ocean, it’s nice to see all those creatures in broad daylight instead of just the luminous shadow in the depths
I am also terrified of the ocean (thalasaphobia) and this game doesn’t scare me especially below zero
@@JuanRivera-cl2sf bro same idk why (real pictures of the ocean or real parts of the ocean actually scare me but subnautica just gives me the creeps)
@@eran4800 I think it may be in part to being able to remember where every creature spawns. I think a future Subnautica should have all creatures randomized and changing location often, so that way we truly never know what creatures are around us

This would actually be an insane game concept. A huge desert, with flying leviathans, and burrowing creatures, with caves that go deeper and deeper into the planets surface, as deep as the abyss or volcano zone.
so you mean minecraft with extra steps?
@@Elenoar19 *modded minecraft
Instead of subnautica it would be called subterranean
And you could use a wall-scaling Seamoth to travel up and down the place. A Landmoth.
that was a planned project in the mid 2000's cannot for the life of me remember the name used to have the demo file, it was basically DUNE and what we have now as Subnautica combined, but it was being done by 1 person and project was scrapped lost to the sands of time ( pun intended) it would have been so cool, they even had vehicles made etc, large dune crawlers flying crafts small little sand creatures scurrying the land burrowing etc more insectoid medium sized creatures skimming the lands surface for food or....you, and they had 1 massive creature bigger than anything Subnautica had that was basically a Giant Sand Worm and Centipede monstrosity of terror on crack but wasn't fully fleshed out or finished by any means, it had so much potential I could only imagine what a fleshed out well textured and finished product would have been like.
Fun Fact, the reason why the pod kept falling through the ground is due to draw distance. In the game the ground despawns to save up on rendering if you get too far away. Normally the pod would be unaffected, as it's floating, but since it isn't here it keeps falling because the ground underneath it vanishes when you get too far. Someone else did a similar challenge to this and used floaters to keep the pod from falling.
Oh hey, that's my Sea Level Mod! I can't believe I'm just now seeing this video!
This is exactly how I hoped someone would use it haha, I'm so glad you did.
Loved the video!
Nice job!
@@thunderwormgacha2926 thanks!
Would be cool if the mod also made it that all the creatures could only exist in water, so that as the level dropped they would lower with the water or get stranded on dry land. Eventually you'd have stranded leviathans or a huge concentration of creatures swimming in one area.
It would just be hell tightly concentrated a deep hole. XD
thats called REALITY
@@maggiem6209 it would stink, I know.
also the plants like the seaweed would just flop onto the ground since they are weak bendy plants
@@wyattisawesome4727 I can just imagine how loud the screams IGP and ICY would make if this was a real mod.
10:31 I’m not going to lie, the Gargantuan Leviathan is quite beautiful when looking at it like that. It’s a mix between terrifying and beautiful.
We evolved to be wary of pretty animals (colorful means deadly in any wild zone, maybe except for birds), so the response is more than expected.
@@hitlord the Hooded Pitohui is one such example as a brightly coloured, dangerously poisonous bird though.
@@hitlord no we didn’t „evolve“ lol we aren’t pokemons

seeing the sea emperors aquarium without water really puts into perspective how absolutely massive she is, since youre standing normally you get a true height comparison
I love the fact that no matter how many times you play this game, the terror is still there.
Imagine the opposite mod where you add water into the ocean instead
Hello non mustache man
I'm pretty sure there is one I remember seeing something similar
hi there did you find you're mustache yet?
edit: don't try fixing my grammar cause i won't do it
Probs would need a base or vehicle quickly as you wouldn't make it back up in time if you dived down for resources, eventually.
This mod can do that as mentioned at 1:18
Bro this is a terrifying concept. Your in a pool that is 10 feet deep, and every second your in it, the water level gets lower and lower till your at the point where your trapped.
Also IGP your Iron Lung video gives me nightmares dude. Such a good game
They actually have a movie of that but double the feet and add an alligator
@@critter2566 Jesus. Whats it called?
@@SergeantDC It's called Pool you can look up cinema summary to see a little bit of the movie

I didn't know Subnautica was this deep. In lore AND size.
Bro when you get all of the PDAs it's crazy sad. Literally one of the life pods exploded because one of the passengers was a dumbass and lit a flare and it caught the fuel line.
I love how despite the clear level of experience and profession with Subnautica, the game clearly doesn't get any less scary lmao
Lmao that intro with the subtle ‘I never went to college’ was hilarious.
Keep up that content IGP!
Lol don't forget the sneeze
I've seen a guy try to play through subnautica with no water from the start, his tip was to go for the habitat builder as fast as possible, because the lifepod will fall through the ground ass soon as you unrender the ground under it, so you need a habitat if you want anything that lasts
You mean The Last Bacon?
@@Eugene_018 I think so yeah

25:35 IGP literally *swam* through the dragon's gaping jaws.
*"You're a bastard..."*
What a legend lmao
That one Reaper at 14:00 roaring nonstop: WHERE THE HELL IS THE WATER
Ghost Leviathan response: Lol No Water?
the genuine screams of terror really makes this so much better
Honestly, as weird as it is, it would've been really cool to have one or 2 small caves with air pockets deep within the ocean. I know it's not really realistic, or anything, but the caves look amazing partially filled lol
Depending on the actual water pressure in certain areas as well as how the things would balance I believe you can have that sorta stuff realistically occur
@@exist4046 Really? That's sick! Definitely wish we'd gotten one now
The reason why we didn't get it is probably because it would have been screwed with the way depth works.
@@ChadtronicFan oh that is true, I forgot that the game sorta just has a water plane that dictates where all the water is, rather than different levels of the water itself
@@exist4046 It should have been fine, there are plenty of times in subnautica where you'd run into pockets of air. Its just instead of differential pressure, it was alien tech making the air pockets.
This game just triggers 6-7 phobias within me at once. I sat through Amnesia: the dark descent when it came out without flinching, but this game makes me want to curl up into a ball.
For real? I nearly pissed myself playing both of them.
Didn't even finish Amnesia lmao
@@Solanin0803 What does your inability to immerse in games have to do with his comment? A phobia is something entirely different than a horror game that intends to put an oppressive feeling on the player. Subnautica isn't even a horror game and still gives him more of an oppressive feeling because of straight up phobias which is his point. Damn man, learn some 3rd grade reading and comprehension.
for me amnesia was hell and subnautica was piss easy, idk

Having "just" seen the Elden Beast, I have to say I am reminded of it.
I honestly assumed the fish would all be flopping around out of water like magikarp lmaoo
Also isn't crazy that the sandsharks become a bigger threat when the terrain is land-based?
pretty sure he has a size randomizer mod that is doing that
IGP saying "excuse me" to random sea creatures will forever be one of my favorite things
8:35 human survival instinct from millions of years in Savanah kicked in.
The whole 10 seconds from there on are just hilarious lmao 10:48 "i think im in the ughehguehgghegheehghe...Im in the DUDES..."
*tries to calm himself*
"Im in the dunes...im in the dunes"
"The water is going down"
Fish: "That's just, like, your opinion, man."
Imagine crafting a seamoth and then hearing: “Please Construct In Deeper Water”
i hate that XD
*20:11** when I find ice cream in the freezer*
Salvner explains it in his speedruns. When the play gets far away, everything despawns except for a few things.
The water, the lifepod, and mobile vehicle bays will not deload with distance.
The lifepod went through the despawned land.
Makes sense why the devs had to make pods/bases/wrecks stationary no matter what. To do otherwise would result in everything sinking through the ground. I mostly get that impression because of Salvner's speedrun at GDQ where he explained, as you said, and I don't see an engine-efficient alternative to doing exactly what the devs did.
@@furiousapplesack They could place a spherical field around, say, a life pod. And any terrain within that field will be reloaded, keeping the life pod from falling through terrain.
Then the terrain can unload once it's no longer within the invisible field.
Subnautica without water really puts into perspective how massive some things are, especially the Emperor. This might be partial to the mod Indie has that makes things bigger, but even when putting that into regard things seem bigger.
The space around the Aurora when there’s no water gives me the same feel as the glowing sea in Fallout 4 😰
Imagine watching this and you see that your time capsule has been used on this guy.
“Dude the water got so low so fast!” Sir, you’re removing a gazillion gallons per second 🤨
This is probably the only game i wish i could erase from my memory so i could experience it all over again. Definitely my favorite game of all time.
This game, Portal, and Superliminal are the 3 I wish I could experience all over again, but most especially Subnautica. I didn't want to leave the world of Subnautica, so I ended up speedrunning it and joining that community. Which allows you to enjoy it in a completely new way, but makes it really hard to ever enjoy it casually again. Subnautica bingo is particularly fun though... Highly recommend
I really wish I could play this game.
But thallasophobia so bad I can’t play more than 5 minutes max. Hell, even the start menu itself makes my skin crawl.
The Witcher 3 is one of those games
My favorite game of all time is plants vs zombies (the original) but this game is atleast in the top 25
For me that game is Outer Wilds, which is *my* favourite game. Unforgettable.
The screams are just so real, my throat always closes up into dog-whistle territory so I just squeak hysterically 😂
bro im glad im not the only one who searched an hour for seaglide fragments, and then once I got one found every fragment possible
"Hm? Yeah no- I don't really like the ocean."
"But-"
*casually drains ocean*
The floating fish and flora gives this such a feeling of making everything feel even more alien. Eldritch almost with the illusion of water.
8:47 he encountered a wild Pokemon in the tall grass
The screams just make it that much better 😂😂
This is such a sick speedrun tho. It would make me really happy to see someone run this
While it isn't a 'every second the water gets lower', Salver does do a "moist %" run where he tries to speedrun the game while touching the water as little as possible, and some glitchy shenanigans do lead to water disappearing from the map
it really would just be a normal speedrun, a good runner would be able to do this before the water gets too low
If they didn't use cheats like time capsules like he does
It would be a shrinking sphere so only first second would drain that amount. Every next second the circumference is ⅒ of a meter smaller so reducing it another ⅒ of a meter would reduce the total volume by less than the previous amount.
I'm. Sorry I don't speak smartness😂
@@Skibidi.doo. reducing 10% every second instead of a fixed amount
Except the game is flat
I do math for a living and had the same thought, but it turns out it doesn't make much of a difference. In the screencapped post at the start of the video, it says the world's circumference is 29030400 meters. That makes the radius about 4620331.7.
The deepest point in the crater is usually about 1700 meters below sea level. If you take the amount of volume lost to reduce a 4620331.7 meter radius sphere to a 4620331.6 meter one, then subtract that same amount of volume out of a 4618631.7 meter radius sphere (1700 meters less than when we started), the radius goes down by about 0.100074. In other words, the water would only be dropping about 0.074% faster at the end of the video than at the beginning.
Furthermore, it takes 17000 seconds to drop the water level by 1700 meters at a rate of 0.1 meters per second (obviously). Instead, if you take the amount of volume lost when decreasing a 4620331.7 meter radius sphere by 0.1, then subtract that volume every second until the sphere's radius is 1700 meters lower than at the start, it would take about 16993.7 seconds. In other words, decreasing by volume instead of height would only make the drop happen about 6.3 seconds faster than the original time of 4 hours, 43 minutes, and 20 seconds. It would be about 0.037% faster overall.
@@daneshannonsparks Is someone ensuring you breed?
It really puts everything in a much grander scale - and comparing the Gargantuan to Shenron left a wider smile on my face than it should have, but I feel like it'd be cool if the tall grass kept you more hidden from hostiles..
I am glad I started watching this guy. Haven't laughed thus hard in awhile.
My thoughts before watching:
Draining the ocean that I'm in, simply means that all the things that want to eat me now have less space for me to escape in. I don't like that. Fuck the ocean.
I am genuinely surprised how great the world is even without water.
I loved this video because you didn’t just get the nod and mess around with it for a few minutes like most videos of this nature do. You actually completed the game
This was incredibly High-llarious to watch! 🤣
Sub is one of my favorite games and to watch you play it with a twist was great and your screams and jump scares literally made me laugh the entire time! New subscriber! 👏🏼
Imagine if the sea dragons and all of the leviathan class hostiles had hit boxes and if you touched them or even the tips of their tentacles they turned around instantly and attacked you
Before watching IGP play this game that’s how I thought it worked
I LOVE HOW THE SEA DRAGON SOUNDS LIKE HE IS LAUGHING AT SCAREING IGP AT 20:53
Man, whoever you are, THANK YOU for your humor. You cracked me up several times - just what I needed today! one love bro!
fun fact that I recently found out
in the final facility you can manage to slide the seamoth through the forcefeild and drive it around like it's in the water, even after you go into the sea emporers tank it's still do it afterward
An interactive stream version of this where bit donations lower the water level would be entertaining af XD
I love this guy's screams of fear, I don't know why but they're genuinely so entertaining to listen to
I dont know why either its odd lol
Job 41:1-34 NIV
Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook
or tie down its tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through its nose
or pierce its jaw with a hook?
3 Will it keep begging you for mercy?
Will it speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will it make an agreement with you
for you to take it as your slave for life?
5 Can you make a pet of it like a bird
or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
6 Will traders barter for it?
Will they divide it up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill its hide with harpoons
or its head with fishing spears?
8 If you lay a hand on it,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
9 Any hope of subduing it is false;
the mere sight of it is overpowering.
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it.
Who then is able to stand against me?
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay?
Everything under heaven belongs to me.
12 “I will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs,
its strength and its graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its outer coat?
Who can penetrate its double coat of armor[b]?
14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth,
ringed about with fearsome teeth?
15 Its back has[c] rows of shields
tightly sealed together;
16 each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light;
its eyes are like the rays of dawn.
19 Flames stream from its mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from its nostrils
as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
21 Its breath sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from its mouth.
22 Strength resides in its neck;
dismay goes before it.
23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
24 Its chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.
25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified;
they retreat before its thrashing.
26 The sword that reaches it has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
27 Iron it treats like straw
and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make it flee;
slingstones are like chaff to it.
29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw;
it laughs at the rattling of the lance.
30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds,
leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it;
one would think the deep had white hair.
33 Nothing on earth is its equal-
a creature without fear.
34 It looks down on all that are haughty;
it is king over all that are proud.”
That scream at 14:30 made me literally laugh out loud
5:16 it's not an issue with the mod, when you're far away from land it unloads but if there's no water for the lifepod to float on it'll just descend past the unloaded floor
the reason the pod fell through the ground (to lava zone, ect.) is because the water is the only thing keeping it where it is. When you unload the land underneath it, it falls. To get around the distance unloading is to attach a floater or two to the pod.
Imagine giving your tools that saved your life from a reaper with time capsule just so he can say "F*ck you dude".
The fact that he did this on the mode that doesn’t let you have hunger must show how hard this run actually is
The map looks really cool without its water. Its extremely ominous- especially in the tall grass
