My oldest son has adhd. He was a nightmare to raise. We went to doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, you name it and we tried it. As difficult as it was to raise him we NEVER gave up on him. He is now 25 and has learned to live with it. He doesn’t take any medications anymore. Unfortunately he relies on alcohol a little too much. He still struggles with impulsive behavior but he is doing very well. As hard as it was for us, it is 10x harder for him. The thought of him just not coming home when he was a young teen is terrifying. With the impulsive nature of adhd you have to watch them MORE not less. Crap. I’m going to let this play to support the channel, but this case has haunted me for years. It shatters my heart. He was about the age of my son and reminds me so much of him. One of those stories where you wish you could turn back time to find that sweet kid and give him all the love and care he deserved.
Wouldn't you at least check where your son was even if he was staying with friends that's horrible poor guy , he fact they had so many arguments that obviously the parents hadn't a clue how to manage the situation and didn't care either
Yes, after what happened the chimney was removed completely. But no one saw it happening. It’s crazy how many people have gone this way. I found a ton of stories like this one. Will probably do an entire episode with a handful more like this.
The case of Harley Dilly still gets to me. There is just something really wrong with how it's officialy explained by authorities. Especially when you do some digging and find out this sa.e thing has happened to other young people, and not just stuffed into chimnnies, but other odd places, with their bodies and possessions being found in very similar arrangements, and they are written off the books using the same type of official explanations. Somethings really not right with these cases.😬😬
I'm not condemning the parents here. From what I'm seeing, he was raised rather well. He seemed to have a nurturing upbringing, getting medical/psychiatric care, optometry, and well-nourished. Even had a phone and video games. No one could have foreseen this tragic fate, and there certainly seemed to be no malice -- just discipline. Jmho
@kathygibson4433 I also don't think we have enough factual evidence to blame the parents. But, from what I've heard from other channels covering this story, the conspiracies and allegations around his parents started with people who knew Harley -- friends and parents of friends. Allegedly, anyway, since anyone can claim they're anyone online.
Personal responsibility goes a long way. The parents were neglectful by not calling but skipping school bc you broke your cell phone and parents won't replace it immediately. Eye roll....Cry me a river.
I can understand the parents not reporting him missing, since he often was away for a few days, but if they had been better parents, he wouldn't have wanted to leave all the time.
Yeah for me the reporting isn’t as big of a deal as everything that went on leading up to him making the decisions he did. He may have been a difficult child but the parents could have done better in supporting him or getting him the help he needed. My kids are doing martial arts for the sole reason that it instills responsibility, and respect and I hope it will stay with them all there lives
It would be one thing if they were at least calling around to see where he was,but they did nothing but you out and drink. I can't imagine not really caring where my 14 year old with some special needs is for 2 days. These are just not good parents.
The Cellar: "we don't know all the ins and outs of the family dynamic." Also The Cellar: "the parents failed him." Me: you're ignorance of their family dynamic doesn't mean the parents failed him. If you don't know all the details, then you shouldn't say anything at all. The court of public opinion has destroyed many people unjustifiably.
You’re justified in your opinion. But so am I. The child wasn’t allowed to stay home. As a parent, If you know your kid is prone to running away or what not, wouldn’t you take the time to make sure the child got to school that day? Well they didn’t do that. Then the child felt like his best course of action was to go to an abandoned house and crawl into the chimney to gain access. All that so he can potentially wait for his mom to leave so he could then go home. Then he dissapears for days before the parents call the cops. Because his act of running away has become so common place over the years they don’t bat an eye at it. So yes, with all that analyzers I do think the parents failed him. Was it all there fault? No, the kid made poor decisions and I’m sure he wasn’t easy to deal with. But the parents seemed like they were at a point where they just let him do whatever because they couldn’t handle him or his behavior. Well, parenting can be difficult. I don’t think they could bothered with the difficult. Not saying I’m perfect, but every child is different and some need to be approached and treated drastically different. So that’s my opinion on the matter and based on what information is available.
Nothing he said is untrue. Way to go contradicting yourself. We don't know the ins & the outs because they didn't film their daily life for everyone to see and the parents failed him because your minor children are not suppose to go missing for days at a time. They're your responsibility until they become legal adults and not a day before.
I cannot stand to see abandoned buildings/houses. The owners of these dwellings should be held accountable for mowing of grass, landscaping, boarding up. etc... AND any mishaps!
Really. Should they leave out snacks, WiFi, and an Xbox for the next foolish child who decides to climb down a chimney into a locked property to skip school? Come on.
@@stt5v2002 ? Abandoned buildings are dangerous. They need to be maintained, sold, boarded/chained, demolished. No child should be able to get in a property that is just an eyesore. And yes he should not have been so foolish but he's 14.
@@fairladykd6734 Right, everything that could potentially be dangerous should be childproofed. Hey, let's replace cement sidewalks with rubber mats. With such compassion, I'm sure you'd have no problem donating your time & money to help remedy the issue.
@@curiouser-and-curiouser Not EVERYTHING can be child/foolish proofed. But abandoned houses/buildings just left to rot, attract rodents, everything growing out of control, trashed, etc.. are an eyesore and dangerous. And attract ALL KINDS of people. And NOBODY wants them in their neighborhood. I do my part to help the issue. Thank You for noting that!
@@pixie_kitty_ Sweetheart, you don't get to dictate what people say, especially in a social media comment section. Nobody's forcing you to read it & they don't need your approval to share their opinions. You're gonna hear & see things that you don't like for the rest of your life. Instead of trying to control what other people do, something you'll never accomplish, grow up & learn how to do deal with it. Fyi, autism doesn't grant you special treatment.
You contradict yourself a lot. I teach children with behavioral and emotional Issues. You really don’t understand until you walk a mile in there shoes.
I think I understand more than most as a parent at least. I have a child with behavioral issues and it’s not something that I typically discuss, but in relation to this case I would say I have some insight. It’s not all on the parents, but I do think the parents needed to be more proactive with the behavior. The running away and disappearing became a norm. The skipping school was also something that I’m sure had happened before. So when his mother said to get your ass to school, maybe she should’ve taken the initiative to make sure he actually got to school. I get everyone’s situation is different, but that’s my two cents into those aspects. As far as the kid climbing In the chimney, once he did that, nothing was gonna save him. Even the parents reporting him missing sooner wouldn’t have made a difference. The only way this could’ve been prevented was with proactive changes and I think that has to start with the parents. Idk if Harley was seeing anyone regularly; idk all the in and outs so it’s hard to say definitively without the full picture

Drinkers. Fas is being overlooked. Blood tests too
Agreed.
What a tragic and sad story. That poor kid.
The entire story is as tragic as can be. Having boys myself I couldn’t imagine
How can you have a missing child and not report it to the police,,,immediately!!! My boys are around Harleys age, and if I didn’t know where they were,my first thought would not let’s go out drinking with my friends . I would be out there searching for my child,, along side of the police. All my prayers go out to every family who has been affected by a missing loved one❤
Yeah can’t agree more with you. Idk how his parents continue living with themselves after what occurred
My daughter is 21 and I’ve not heard from her since yesterday evening and I’m worried, she’s a grown adult away with her boyfriend. So strange to not be straight in the case at his age.
Correct children must be reported immediately but adults 24 hours minimum in my state anyway
Crap. I’m going to let this play to support the channel, but this case has haunted me for years. It shatters my heart. He was about the age of my son and reminds me so much of him. One of those stories where you wish you could turn back time to find that sweet kid and give him all the love and care he deserved.
Yeah I understand that. I don't blame anyone who doesn't have the heart to listen to a case like this one, its not easy
If he HAD made it in the house, how would he get out?
I'm 7 minutes late, even with a reminder...
At least ya made it eventually!
CCTV looks like it's stuck in 1997.
as is alot of CCTV throughout the US. I worked for a company that still used VHS tapes as recently as 5-6 years ago, I think that's very telling lol
Wouldn't you at least check where your son was even if he was staying with friends that's horrible poor guy , he fact they had so many arguments that obviously the parents hadn't a clue how to manage the situation and didn't care either
like the new intro
Thanks 🙏 glad you like it!
❤
It's the parents fault
Poor kid.
Hey, isn't there a way that chimneys in vacant homes can be capped to prevent this kind of thing?
Yes, after what happened the chimney was removed completely. But no one saw it happening. It’s crazy how many people have gone this way. I found a ton of stories like this one. Will probably do an entire episode with a handful more like this.
This almost never happens, because you have to be clueless and disrespectful level 9000 to climb down a chimney into a locked property to skip school.
I mean, the parents suck, but the obnoxious kid doesn’t really inspire any empathy.
I understand that, but the kid was autistic and had adhd, and was only 14. That’s an up and down time in any teenagers life.
What is up with these kids trying to enter a house thru a chimney?
No idea but it’s more common then you’d expect
👍
Thanks for watching!
👍🐿😎
Suhh yall?
Hey 👋
Hello 👋🏾🤗❤
Hey 👋
If the gap was too small to expand his chest just to breathe.... how did he remove his clothing????
Good question, not sure how he did it. He could’ve removed it to fit and slid down with it held above him.
Good point, I’m covering another case like this one that’s even more puzzling. Comes out today so keep an eye out
I'm not condemning the parents here.
I can't !
The Cellar: "we don't know all the ins and outs of the family dynamic."
Also The Cellar: "the parents failed him."
Me: you're ignorance of their family dynamic doesn't mean the parents failed him.
Poor Harley I heard abut that chimney death. So Horrible.
The idea of the poor kid stuck in there only is heartbreaking
@@fairladykd6734 Abandoned building. There’s a clue in the title as to why no one is maintaining it.
Death by misadventure. Also a typical entitled brat of this generation IMO
Absolutely disgusting comment. He was autistic. Keep your ableist comments to yourself, nobody wants to hear them.
I teach children with behavioral and emotional
Issues.
I've heard this story before this is a repeat
If I did this story before…. Well, then it means my brain 🧠 is fried 😂 I don’t remember doing this story. But you have me looking back through my content now!
Ok, so I went back through every video I have ever done. I did not find this story ever covered before, so perhaps you heard it on another channel?
That must be it thank you for the response
@@TheCellarTrueCrimedefinitely from other channels. Seems like everyone has done the same stories over and over. But I like hearing it from you regardless lol. Hopefully you can find new and interesting ones too! ❤
@@cortneyh4271 yeah I try to find new ones, but sometimes I find ones like this and really feel strong in talking about them and giving my take on it all. Trust me I’m constantly scouring the internet for ideas that haven’t been touched on. But it’s hard to find sometimes 😂
I really never bought the story that he climbed in the chimney. It’s possible but I think it could have been foul play. Bullies, parents, the whole thing never made any sense to me. Very sad when kids get neglected like that. I would do anything for my daughter and never left her alone when she was young. Ever
Yeah my boys are still young but I’d never let them leave home for days on end without knowing precisely where they are and who there hanging out with. Parents job is to protect there kids and raise them the best they can.
So glad you changed your opening song, no offense to YOU, but it was terrible. I absolutely love your content, and narration.
Thanks and glad you like the new intro!! Glad it improves the overall experience for ya!
New into is too long. Cost the channel credibility.
30 seconds is too long now for people’s attention spans? Hmm 🤔 I have been following true crime garage for years and there intro music can run for 40 seconds to over a minute at times.
No worries, Cellar. The intro is great, from an ADHDer. Feels like I should grab popcorn and settle in for an experience. Anyone with the attention span of a goldfish can just hit forward a couple of times.
Lol no
If you can’t pay attention to something for 30 seconds you’re gonna have a really tough life to live
Yeah of course tell the story of the kid who got trapped in the f****** chimney again can you come up with something else
Not sure what you’re referring to? I thought maybe I was going crazy in regards to this story being covered before. So I went back through my content from the start and I don’t see anywhere that this story was ever covered by my channel. If I am wrong then plz show me. I covered the kid who was trapped in his van, but as far as I can tell I’ve never covered this story. If I thought that I had, I wouldn’t have covered it again. I scoured all my videos multiple times, so as far as I can tell this is me coming up with something else 👍
I'm always clicked like before I watch..
These cases are extremely unsettling..😢
