I just had the same time happened to my himiway cruiser with the error 24 and himiway has been the best throughout this process. They have answered all of my questions within 24 hours. Idk what people are taking about with bad service. Cheers mate
I wish you luck with that, my back tire had to be taken out several times, first I did change the Breakplates a lot, then I had flats and now I even have to change the motor. Love the escape though, its such a good looking bike and people always notice it and talk to me about it.
I have a Himiway cruiser and also need to replace the motor. Is the original bafang 750 watt motor my best option or does Himiway use stronger rear hub motors that would drop in also? I have a KD 718 display which gives me an extra 5mph in pedal assist 7 on the lowest gear. Thanks for the video?
I have the "sister" bike to the himiway, a Juiced Scorpion. and oh boy, changing tires is a pain without all the fancy stuff a bike shop has. had the misfortune of getting 2 flat tires in less than a month due to the town i was in basically just brushing all the road debris to the white line/shoulder. I feel your pain, sir!
@@allenschmitz9644 well i have 6000 combined km and 0 flats its just luck really and my scooter style ebike i got a flat the first week. some people even win the lottery twice
Have you thought about adding a torque arm similar to the style on the RadRover? The arm is attached with a bolt to the flange around the dropout. That would require drilling a hole and using a tap to cut some treads, but it might solve your problem. Thanks for having a great channel. I’ve learned plenty from it!
Hey, I love your channel! After doing my research on what e bike to buy, your channel helped me get over the edge on the purchase of a himiway bike for my wife and myself. We love them! A step through for her, and a cruiser for me. I think it would be interesting to have you test a hunting marketed style bike with a mid drive to see if their torque is off the charts. That's all for now I'll keep watching
they are off the charts i have one and it rips i have the biktrix juggernaut ultra FS and i have yet to find a cliff that cant climb if you are in the right gears the only limit the bike has is the rider if you can keep that front tire from lifting you can make it up anything or through i dug a massive mud pit when i got stuck in a bog with just one throttle press cleared all the mud around my back tire then just crawled outta the pit
Robinson Cycle used to carry them, because they made a video about it, so I called because I wanted to do the same thing. There answer is that they no longer carry the drop in 1000 watt replacement, only a 1000 watt bafang where the spokes would have to be realigned and the wheel trued. Let me know if you find another company where the drop ins are still available and I will do the same for you.😅
Hi thanks for all the great reviews. I have been looking at e bikes for a while now and the Escape is the one I had it narrowed down to. But after seeing this review I am not sure now. it seems to break down easily. In you opinion is it wise to buy this bike or should I keep on looking. 🤔
Hey, I got myself a Himiway Escape Pro, before i reached 90km far got the same motor issue, after you fixed it did it held up good sofar? greets from the netherlands
Good that you removed the front fender they are dangerous if a mount breaks and rotates on the tire while the bike is moving at a good speed! I haven't seen anything stating what the frame is made of, aluminum or steel. Hopefully, steel a torque arm could be made of steel welded or bolted to the frame so the motor's shaft wouldn't rotate. Nothing to take two pieces of flat stock steel and file it so it fits tight on the motor shaft on both ends. The flat stock can be then welded or bolted on the drop-outs. The front motor drives are a real headache to hold and a front suspension fork should be made of steel. The rear drive system is much better and safer. The torque arm washers should be made of good quality steel since these Ebike motors develop a lot of torque. I looked at one review on RUclips that had a carbon fiber frame and it had a Bosch mid drive motor. Just about everything was made of carbon fiber including the seat post! Thanks for your review on this problem.
I'm gonna have to take both wheels off here soon. Definitely not looking forward to it after hearing you had such trouble. I don't think I'm as patient as you,and definitely don't have as many tools as you do. Looking forward to see how your bike turns out. I kinda want to put a motor on the front wheel on mine like you did to your Rad bike 😆
Good luck getting the wheels off just be patient. It will probably take a minute. I've also thought about putting a front motor on this bike. It's already heavy so why not make it heavier 😁
After 5 min of watching I went and checked my rear axle nuts. They were tight, tight, tight. I have a quick link on my chain and take it completely off when removing the rear wheel.
I know what you mean about dealing with rear tire removal and installation and I have the Radrover 5 which is a lot easier compared to what you described. I like that you're going to do the front forks. Hopefully you can show us how you went about it.
A basic mid-drive like the BBS02 solves a lot of these problems. It's a DIY, generally, but you're already doing DIY. On my BBS02 bike the rear wheel came loose. Nothing can happen to the motor. The rear wheel is fairly simple to remove, just like on any non-motor. I guess on those 20 inch wheels and fat tires there is not a lot of space. I think you can buy Tannus inserts that can't go flat. I just use a premium tire and thick tubes. Good information. I'd have to say the fork thing is a defect, but sometimes you just want to upgrade.
he has a biktrix stunner X with the BBS02 and has the tannus armor on his rad rover. and the himiway that he has was the press release of the bike so its been around the country probably
The torque arm, you dont always need the long part. You can drill a small hole in the smaller part and put a bolt in the frame. Or some times it lines up with a hole already on the bike.
Now would be a good time to invest in some Flat Out. Might as well minimize the chances of a rear tire flat and you’ll have enough in the bottle to do the front tire as well.
Sounds like a prototype all right, or a bad design based on the difficulty of getting the wheel off. I know a guy who was riding an Onyx RCR with loose wheel nuts, and that has way more power than this, but still no damage. Let us know what the problem with the front fork is... and thanks for another great video! I laughed when you pulled out the hammer ;)
Twist throttles will fail faster than thumb.Presure from hand is more than your thumb ,when going over bumps full throttle.( remember i am no Kinda ebike guru either)
We may never know, but it had to be more than just loose nuts. My hypothesis is at some point when you were going pretty fast your motor locked up. There's no way you would have destroyed both washers, and damaged the frame on both sides from loose nuts.
plenty of videos showing front wheel motors snapping fork dropouts. all that torque is transferred to the axle, either the wheel spins or the axle spins. look at the 9:45 mark ruclips.net/video/WYg0mWgnPG4/видео.html

Yes mine is still running fine 😁
Would you be able to use this type of wheel on an Ariel rider x52?
the ariel rider x class has a bigger hub motor, if you could find a mag wheel that the motor fits in then sure.
That is the rebound bushing , it can be replace using a cut down skate board truck bushing. While the forks are on the bike.

The torque arm, you dont always need the long part. You can drill a small hole in the smaller part and put a bolt in the frame. Or some times it lines up with a hole already on the bike.
It is better to use the whole arm to have better leverage against the twisting motion of the motor spreading out the force against the frame
Keyway washer?
Yes always
Need help the nuts u broke they go on top or bottom of slot for axel
The axle will need to slide all the way into the dropout. So Axel will be sandwiched by the tab and the dropout. Does that make sense?
Same thing happened to me with another company but they sent me a full wheel and it was much quicker to change.
Now would be a good time to invest in some Flat Out. Might as well minimize the chances of a rear tire flat and you’ll have enough in the bottle to do the front tire as well.
