From the 10 freeway take Highway 111 toward Palm Springs.
Located just South Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs Indian Canyons is home to many trailheads and we plan to visit many more times. The Indian Canyons are the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
The Indian Canyons are home to Andreas Canyon, Murray Canyon, and Palm Canyon, and they are especially sacred to the Tribe today. The Agua Caliente people have thrived here for thousands of years.
At $9.00 per person, we think it's a great deal for all the hiking there is in this area. There is ample parking and more than one area to park - some closer to the trailheads. When planning your hike remember that your vehicle has to leave Canyons before 5pm.
We took plenty of water and although it wasn't too hot this day, it can reach temperatures in the high 80s even in winter.
This is a highly trafficked trail with both people and horses. There are some trails that are for horses only, but we share all the people trails with them. They are very placid and well-trained. In total, we are almost certain we crossed Andreas Creek 16 times - out and back. It was a lot; many more than we showed. This hike is not challenging at all until the very final push.
