Such referencing of Arabs adds credence to recognition of a place and a a people that through a Roman slur became known as 'Palestinians' - giving that term/name some weight. There is no mention of Palestine in the Old Testament at all. The present day Arabs never had any legal claim of ancestral rights to the region at all. I don't think you have the full context to understand. Obviously the US sends weapons to Israel (it also sends plenty to other countries). Also, while the help the US gives is very real, it's not a one way street. Israel provides a lot to the US although giving the size of Israel, its not so much in terms of quantity of money. But more generally what Taub is trying to say is that there s a shift in American vision of its role and strategy. Democrats are falling prey to their own woke cult, they are trying to seduce the muslim vote in key states and have this lalaland vision that apeasment with a bully regime (Iran) will guarantee tranquility. The Biden Administration’s equivocal approach to Iran and in response to the October 7 pogrom on southern Israel is easily understood when one considers who are the highest-ranking officials driving that approach, and who are the senior officials supporting them including Jake Sullivan, the United States National Security Advisor, Samantha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development who previously served in the Obama Administration as United States Ambassador to the UN, and Kamala Harris, Vice-President and presumptive Democratic candidate for the Presidency.
These officials are also driving the U.S.’s Israel/Palestine policy. In doing so, they are protecting a Gazan population that -- as well as most Arabs in Judea and Samaria -- widely celebrates Hamas’s pogrom on October 7, and capitulating to the demands of an Iranian regime that is enacting the Islamist dawa and terror at the root of the current conflict. They are also encouraging a retinue of hundreds of millions of antisemitic activists who range in scope and diversity from Islamic states to deranged leftist students, academics, politicians and influencers in the West.
The highest-ranking official at the White House responsible for coordinating the U.S. government's intelligence and defense policy, and the Biden Administration’s Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs at the National Security Council is Maher Bitar, an American government official who rose to prominence under the Obama Administration. In 2006, Bitar graduated from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, where he was on the executive board of the school's Students for Justice in Palestine. Bitar has a Master's degree from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar and studied at Georgetown Law School. His family is of Palestinian origin.
Bitar began his working life worked at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Malaysia and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Jerusalem. Since then, he has been a career Department of State employee, where he developed a close relationship with Jake Sullivan. During the Obama Administration, Bitar worked at the National Security Council (NSC) from 2013 to 2015 as Director for Israel and Palestinian Affairs. And from 2015 to 2017, he was Deputy to U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Samantha Power.
In 2017, Bitar joined the House Intelligence Committee as general counsel for the Democrats, where he played a role in the first impeachment of Donald Trump. He was also legal counsel to U.S. Representative, Adam Schiff.
At the beginning of the Biden Administration in January 2021, Bitar was appointed Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Intelligence Programs at the NSC. His appointment was praised by Rob Malley and Ziad Asali of the pro-Palestinian group American Task Force on Palestine. In January 2024, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan moved Bitar into a new role at the NSC as Deputy Assistant to the President and coordinator for intelligence and defense policy.
He is partnered by Philip ("Phil") H. Gordon, who has served since March 21, 2022, as Assistant to the President and National Security Advisor to the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris. If Harris were to win the Presidency in November, he (or Samantha Power -- who supports establishment of a "Palestinian" state and a two-state solution, or Susan Rice, President Obama's former National Security Advisor and U.S. Ambassador to the UN who holds similar positions) could well become the Secretary of State. Earlier in his career, Gordon was Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs (2009-2011) and Special Assistant to the President and White House Coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Persian Gulf Region (2013-2015) during the presidency of Barack Obama.

I don't think you have the full context to understand. Obviously the US sends weapons to Israel (it also sends plenty to other countries). Also, while the help the US gives is very real, it's not a one way street. Israel provides a lot to the US although giving the size of Israel, its not so much in terms of quantity of money. But more generally what Taub is trying to say is that there s a shift in American vision of its role and strategy. Democrats are falling prey to their own woke cult, they are trying to seduce the muslim vote in key states and have this lalaland vision that apeasment with a bully regime (Iran) will guarantee tranquility. I think that Israel has exhausted its relationship with the US. Most American peopl dont care anymore and there are higher stakes issues for Americans to deal with.

Shoving your head in the sand won't change reality. Each time western democracies abandonned other countries to the appetite of agressive totalitarian states, the latter never stopped there (fascists, communists, islamists). Pearl Harbour is just one example. To the the iranian mollahs, Israel is just the little Satan, the US is the big one. So no matter how much the US gov sucks up to Tehran, or would I say, the MORE the US sucks up to Tehran, the MORE the regime (and their allies) will take this as an opportunity to subdue America (and beyond). You're not helping Israel just because you're nice, you're doing it because they're right in the bull's eye and on the front lines. It's one thing to intervene everywhere and be the world's bully, it's another to show force when necessary and be ready to respond to serious threats. No one is asking you to be a neo-con. Israel is not asking the US to fight their battles. it is asking that DC doesn't make it more complicated for them to win the war for all and help with strategic resources. Believe me, a dominant Islamic republic of Iran, is not "bad" just for the jews, it's a global threat.

I used to think Sinwar would eventually agree to free the hostages in return for exile to some unfortunate Muslim country; but now I realize he will leverage his own martydom and the deaths of the hostages to the greatest effect.
