I got this to work on my rig by following your instructions. Very much worth the effort, it's a totally upgraded experience. I used the Quest store version of Virtual Desktop resident in the headset with the Virtual Desktop Streamer program on the desktop. The menus looked a bit different and my SBS/monitor settings were auto hidden below the screen(in headset) and the screen resize/curvature were auto hid at the top of the screen(in headset). Took about an hour to figure that out but I learned a lot along the way. Playing it on a 3080, butter smooth. Thank you for the effort. It's amazing !

@@sjonkooy6031 Using Half SBS (Side-by-Side) the resolution is always less. That is the downside of using Reshade this way. It is not VR at all, only stereo/depth view and resolution is cut. Also we no longer get a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is IMHO just a nice-to-have feature, but no substitute for true VR at all. Visuals od a 4K OLED display are still far better than this, but then of course those visual are not stereo 3D.
Update : Got it working in Snow Runner ! piece of cake, looks great ... just followed same instructions ... had to use reverse instead of normal on the 3d rendering, other than that, same. I bookmarked this video so I could come back for reference. Now, I wonder what else I can pull this trick on ? must remember don't bother on multiplayer games like World of Warships, their anticheat software will probably have a coniption.
Steam rally racing game "Gravel" is also perfect with the exact same settings as advised by Paradaise Decay ! For this title it is also better to use, in Settings, a.o. FXAA as anti-aliasing method to avoid getting a 2D view instead of 3D (maybe a similar issue as in Wreckfest). Also ... do not use "normal", but "inverted" go get into 3D VR.
Not only Wreckfest, Snow Runner, Everspace 2, Gravel and pinball games work using this method but e.g, Dirt 5 also works great in 3D VR using Reshade ! I posted following assessment on the Steam discussion forum : I know there is quite some negative feedback about DIRT 5 but ... do people realize you can easily play this game in VR. If you want to know how then simply turn to the RUclips channel of 'Paradise Decay' and look for his video about Wreckfest (for which the 'VR kind of workaround is also possible). Took me 5 minutes and I got to play DIRT 5 in glorious 3D with my PICO 4 VR headset ! It feels like a completely different and better game. But better turn ON 'Dynamic Resolution Scaling' option in the Dirt 5 Settings because otherwise you might prefer at least an RTX 3090 to play this in 3D/VR at 60+ FPS with Ultra settings. Thank you again Paradise Decay !
I don't have the 'depth detection' option you have selected in the reshade settings. I've gotten this to work on some games, wreckfest is not one of them. Depth map is all one color
Indeed Paradaise Decay ... Thank you ! Games like Wreckfest and Everspace 2 are indeed using Reshade now far better in 3D / 'VR'. But those 2 games would also benefit greatly from true 6 DOF VR. Using your advice I also successfully used Reshade with Steam Games Pinball FX3 and Pinball Wicked. Both those games are IMHO even better candidates as they do not use 6 DOF. Especially Pinball Wicked now looks and feels awesome in 3D ( however sometimes Pinball FX3 exhibits some artifacts in a particular 3D view). Pinball and a.o. other table-type games are even better suited to get a 3D overhaul. Flight Sims, Space sims and racing games would -of course- be even better with true VR 6 DOF abilities that Reshade may not be able to offer.

Thanks for the vid! I might be missing something really basic here, but my screen is static in 3D. Everything else works (thanks for the no MSAA tip) but turning my head doesn't do anything. What setting am I missing? Reshade is awesome :)
I did this yesterday, worked very nice. If the screen you see in your headset is stationary but in 3D, then you're basically there. Now just increase screen size and curvature until its right in your face. Play from that.
has anyone else got this working on oculus quest ? in the video pd used virtual desktop from steam which had options to link game to 3d unlike virtual desktop oculus which is very limited in this regard I did try air link but did not work Mmmmmm may give up but tempting to go on looking at the video from pd!.......any thoughts on solving this would be dearly appreciated.
OK managed to get it working with a few adjustments to pc version of virtual desktop with all the options that oculus seem to be missing, did not work on airlink ithere must be different settings to do for it to work on airlink ....anyway thanks to pd for the video if it was a crap video i may not have persisted but on the contrary.....great video pd....keep it up.
great video. my quality is rather blurry and on the right side i am missen some view. what can i change to fix that. i have virtual desktop in my quest pro and cannot get it al clear as on the video
Question about the aliasing. When you turn it off it's leaving me with something resembling the recent Quest GRID release. Is that normal, or is there some secret sauce i'm not applying? The only thing that's not replicated on my end is the monitor res, it'll only take my natural desktop settings (1920*) That problem aside, thanks for spelling out how to do this. Forza H 4 & 5 are amazing with Reshade Super depth 3D and Virtual Desktop, unfortunately cockpit view doesn't work in 3d apart from 1 car in Forza 4, have you tried Forza Horizon 4-5 PD? Thanks for the video I'm gonna give this a try now.
@@ParadiseDecay I've got most setting on max in the game settings, Reshade I think 3d set to reverse and my IPD is 64,, depth power I messed about with a bit to get the scale right in bonnet view, I turned down shadows, motion blur off etc in game aswell, I'm using Steam version, my Xbox live versions I can't even get them to download the bleedin games. I must say this is 2 of the best looking games on a 3d screen (Virtual Desktop), they almost pass for real VR, I'm completely blown away. Sad news is only 1 car is working in cockpit view in full 3d, I use bonnet view but if switching to car view everything is miniature, still looks incredible. I'm surprise there are no videos out there, Hopefully you will be the first, I'd post one myself but just don't have any free time.
@@BobbyW0nder I haven't found one that works yet in cockpit view for FH5 but for FH4 I'm using Sprite MKI and Mono 2014 BAC, the Mono is amazing, feels like open world F1 racing. I set Divergence Slder to 74 my IPD 64 DM0 Normal not reverse, Depth map adjustment 7.5 which I think is OOTB as is the rest of the settings. Best OWR game in VR. If only Luke Ross would take it to the next level. I'm sure PD would be the first to drop a video. Reshade lately is really outdoing Vorpx, thanks to PD I didn't know there were so many games working with it.
Tried this on my quest 2 but not working I tried oculus virtual desktop then steam virtual desktop and even using link all with steam vr running in the background ☹️

That's because virtual desktop for steam is often mistaken for people who buy it expecting it to work as an air link replacement, when the one on the quest store is the actual air link replacement (runs way better too, I have a 40% increase in framerate). not the steam version.

Yes I hear that in your truly exhilarated tone.... 🤷♂️ I'd happily play it if there was 360 viewing, if the studio aren't smart enough to add that feature to key into a massive new market and fanbase, that's on them. The game would be phenomenal in ACTUAL VR I'm sure, maybe even 'Exhilerating'?

Try disabling Theatre mode in the games properties on Steam.

I have Virtual Desktop. I did not buy it through Steam. I see 2 images in my headset " Pico 4 " How can I tell VT to display a half SBS image ? please
Virtual Desktop on Steam has a 3D option and you need to click the Half SBS option. (Half Side-by-side)
Sadly , steam virtual desktop is not for Pico 4.

There is a 3D mod shader in the works for Forza 5 I have been testing it, but the 3D is not as good as the 3D featured in this game yet.

Usually, the PC Pass file structure is protected by the Microsoft file system and won’t let you see the directory structure at all..
