Faendal overheard Faunya say that he could never marry Camilla, but that it would be funny if she did. The amnesia is a response to intense psychic trauma, a defense mechanism to keep him from being utterly mindbroken by the experience.

We need to commission a mod maker to restore Fauna's Faendal and give him custom lines, even if they're unvoiced. OR better yet purchase Faendal's real voice actor to voice something like Gura and Vergil/Dante.

Maybe it's an after effect from having been accidentally killed and revived by re-loading... Messing with time (and Kronii) has unexpected consequences.
Or maybe it's just the repeated blows to the head on their travels, while he tanks everything and Faunya snipes in the distance, only occasionally hitting Faendal.
Faendal was forced into the Return From Death Class thanks to Faunya.

I'm trying to bear with her mellowdrama, but I wish someone would explain that's just Faendal's normal dialogue.
Every NPC has a set list of them. And when they're not your Follower, their outfits just switch to their set default.

Well all know what you just said, but reacting that way to Faendal switching back to his own clothes is way more entertaining than if Fauna just went "Oh, so they do that I guess." And rolled with it
She's immersing herself into the world. She doesn't actually believe he forgot. It's more fun to care about the game rather than just go "It's all coding and programming and there are no real consequences".
