I find having a high schooler along with younger siblings a bit of a challenge in that mine is still working on her school work while the others are done and playing. Emotionally, the high schooler needs to realize that he/she is in a new stage of life with more responsibilities. The transition is hard when he/she is the oldest.

We LOVE Denison in our house for those upper levels! The way the teacher explains it in the videos just clicks with my oldest!

I love hearing reviews like this! 👏🏻 We just watched the intro video today, and got all the books opened up, and Eli is excited about it!

If you haven't read The Giver , I would recommend reading it before giving it to him. It os a very heavy book.

Denison was an answered prayer last year for us! I pray it will be for you all too.

We are on year 2 using Denison Math! I love it and so does my son! Last year he did pre-algebra and this year for 9th we are using Algebra 1. I love that it’s not all online. I also enjoy the way it is taught! I usually just hear the lesson while I’m behind my son doing dishes.😊 I’m so happy with it!

My oldest homeschooler is starting 11th grade. She took our community college placement exams and did so well that she is able to begin community college classes that will count for both high school and college. It is hard to "hand over" the curriculum choices to the college but it will be a good gentle transition as she approaches graduation. Does Canada have community colleges that high school students can take?

My son is an adult now so this is too late for me! I’ve watched all your home school curriculum videos though as I find it so interesting. I wish I had gone this route, but you are so organized I’m not sure that’s me! You do a great job teaching your kids!

I have never heard of Denison Math. Interesting since that is my maiden name. Do they have books covering Calculus?

My oldest is in 9th grade this year too. She is doing Apologia Physical Science. I was scared BUT it is laid out incredibly well. I bought her the video lessons as well as the student notebook and those have been very helpful since science is not her strong suit. Rooted in Rest has a wonderful flip through of Physical Science if you are interested in seeing inside.

I’m looking into Denison for my 7th grader for pre-algebra. We’ve used and loved TGATB math for 4 years but unfortunately TGATB level 7 looks a bit redundant and their pre-algebra hasn’t been released yet. It’s so hard to change to something new! I hope Denison is a great fit for you guys! Does Elijah know if he may go into a STEM field? That seems like a big question at our current level and my daughter definitely doesn’t know yet. 😅

Still very unknown over here for career choices as well, but he doesn’t seem to be going that direction. Time will tell!!

Oh Julie, I need all the info!!! We are also in Canada and have seriously been considering Denison for pre algebra. What did it end up costing you with shipping and materials??? I would love to know how your experience went as I know this comes from the states!! Thank you!!

Hey Whitney! I have a friend with a PO Box across the border, so I was fortunate to get free shipping to her! I did get a quote from Denison for shipping to Canada, and it was $70 US 😩
The curriculum itself was $175 US.

Just a curious question. Does Elijah have an idea if he thinks he would like to do for his future career. Just curious if he wants to not share I get that. Also, do you think he will have a part time job when he gets a little older?

Structure and Style doesn’t have spelling included. IEW has a separate spelling curriculum it’s called Phonetic Zoo.

felllow ontarian, how does homeschooling work for a diploma?

    • @mamatofive1
      @mamatofive1  28 дней назад

You don’t get the Ontario secondary school diploma as a homeschooler, but there are ways to get it if it’s important to you. I believe the simplest way is to just go to your local high school for grade 13 after finishing homeschooling.
