I don't remember this short lived series from 1985 at all. Only found out about it when browsing thru Geena Davis' new autobiography at our local Barnes & Nobel recently. T HANKS for uploading! VERY talented cast: all of the went on to bigger & better things! And after watching the opening credits, I have a sudden hankering for some Rice a Roni !! 😆
I believe the executives at NBC must have liked Geena Davis' appearances on Family Ties and Buffalo Bill so much that they tried to star her in her own sitcom and hence came "Sara". Unfortunately, it simply didn't catch on

According to Wikipedia, this only lasted 3 months B4 it was cancelled due to unideal time slot competition against "Dynasty", which was THE biggest thing on television at the time

Is the beautiful Geena Davis still with us?She was awesome in Beetlejuice, The Fly,both of which she appeared with the legendary great actor Jeff Goldblum.She was also terrific in "A League of Their Own " as catcher Dottie Hinson.I can't believe she starred in "Sara".Must've been an 80-ish TV series.
What's strange is that Geena Davis appeared as a guest star in two Family Ties episodes in December 1984, the month before this series debuted. Both series aired on NBC and were created by Gary David Goldberg, but she played a different character on Family Ties. One would think they would have had her play the same character on both series and made this show into a spin-off of Family Ties. I remember seeing her on Family Ties as the clumsy maid at the time, but I don't remember ever hearing of this show Sara at all.
It's not horrible, but I can understand why it didn't last beyond one season. It's fun to watch shows that didn't last more than a season or two, just to see what they were like.
