Gentle soul Darryl Harper leaves the fast paced world of advertising for teaching fourth grade which his medical student wife Vicki supports. Not so much her father Phil, who focuses on the money Darryl isn't making. The kids and brother Anthony keep things light.
City of Los Angeles Resolution (1989) hailed Darryl Sivad's Homeroom as a positive role model for inner-city children. Whereas...shows that too often portray the inner-city and its residents as violent and hopeless, "HOMEROOM" is a ray of hope.
Whoever wrote the theme song🎶 to this show & those children, at the time, singing 🎶 did a superb job!👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Seems like all the shows with solid values got canceled way too soon, everything now is vulgarity, sex and violence, what a shame. I am thankful to RUclips and these downloads, I hardly what TV now.
There were a lot of good short lived black sitcoms that got canceled and not given a chance to succeed around this time
OMG I use to watch this show when I was a lil girl and I loved it. I was soo mad when it stop airing on ABC. It really was a great show. I thought Daryl and Donald were hilarious together. I have been looking for this show for the longest but I couldn't remember the name. I just remembered Daryl and would type the Daryl show. 😆🤣😂 Thank you for posting this show. Gosh I miss my childhood 😢.
I was in the 4th grade when i use to watch this on ABC i just wish it would of stay on longer Because it really was a good show.

This series is another in the 80s black sitcom 'renaissance'.
I kept singing a piece of the theme song, "Do unto others, you'll soon discover that, what you do will come back to you". I had to reverse think it out because I couldn't remember Darryl Sivad's name, but I knew his face, and after a little digging, I attached the face, to the name, to the show, to the theme song!😓😄. Long story short...T.V. back in the day was great! Too much brain dead reality mess today. Forgettable. I'm glad I grew up at a time of quality programming, which was not only entertaining, but also educational. Thanks to the poster for uploading this video🙏.
Look at Tre from Boyz N Da Hood. I guess he was in that class the year before he was in the class that he got in trouble in and got sent to live with his father!

This theme song almost sounds like a New Edition song, although The Dimples performed it.

I was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for one day in the Bronx and for two years in the hood in Tucson and El Paso. These inner-city youths are just so precious. Many write them off. God bless Mr. Harper for not doing so.

He’s too positive for TV
I remember this show as a kid. As an adult it makes me realize how divided and down they wanted to always keep black people below. A positive classroom structured show like this would probably have given a more positive spin on the school structure especially when it came down to our people. Might not have ended up with such bad environments in our country today. Just my opinion
