- Do popping corks get more strikes?
I hit the water to find out.
Fishing with the same lure, will a popping cork get more strikes than a jighead?

Popping corks are a warmer water tool. Those fish were going to be on the bottom. Now if you had a 4' leader on the popping cork it may have made it closer but in the cold and over 4-6' deep I usually don't even pull out a popping cork until water breaks the 70 mark! Also a cigar popping cork with a smaller profile duplicates the winter fish action since they are more subdued. Just what I have found anyway. Good test though, look forward to others like it.
I really like switching between lures with the tweaker. Worked well today and my last few times out.
Got a Carolina slam on a popping cork...the bait...salt strong slim shadys. After my cork busted used minnows and got another slam. Fish were hungry that day.
Great info I fish both ways thanks
Great video! I’m up in southern NJ and never used a popping cork. I can’t wait to use those prawns in the backwaters for flounder next week!
Good info bro,
Ha guys great stuff I'm unlucky I'm in England and everyone knows how abysmal our fishing is when you gonna mention catching over here or consider a working holiday love to learn some of your jedi fishing skills for over here what about a completion can you catch over here great channel Tony from
brighton beach England
Was the popping cork at the same depth or much higher than the jig head rig setup?
Do yall recommend a loop or snug knot when using plastics on a football jighead?
👍
For trout, loud corks are not as effective as they are for redfish. A more subtle sounding cork is best for trout in most instances.
I think it’s more about daylight and water conditions. If the water had a chop on it or you were in a lower light situation I think the result would’ve been closer. Calm sunny days are not the popping corks ideal conditions
More testing coming soon!
