- Join along as we make horsepower on Colburn Sherwood's M&W dyno. As we dyno tractors at Great Brook Farm including my 1974 John Deere 7520. How much horsepower will it make? Thank you for watching
Gotta love Dyno Days! It’s great to see the old iron still cranking out big numbers.
Love all of it. Keep it coming!
Super cool. Was Taken back By The Horsepower on the 7530. Have never Knowed an tractor to grow in horsepower.
Awesome video and awesome results! Thanks for sharing.
Love your videos, there is bits of everything, farming, fabrication and fixing stuff. Keep up the great content. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video Chris!
Awesome video. Incredible to see these tractors making higher than rated horsepower. Awesome machines. They sound great too!
Thank you very much for opening the lids on the dyno. Since I was a young boy I was wondering how the cooling of a dyno worked and now thanks to you I get another piece of the puzzle. You have brought back fond memories of my childhood when we used to go to the dealer's to try out the tractors. Thanks
What a gorgeous fleet of machines.
I appreciate all the work U do. Gotta Love American Farmers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That is a awesome video I've never seen tractors Dynoed before
7520 is one badass tractor. Very cool machine your friend has. Yenko looking good with all of the tractors! Have a great day
At first I couldn't place the accent, but when you were cranking the tractor and said "It wantsta" I was assured. Townies & Tractors. Hell yes.
You knew exactly what we wanted highlighted in this video, showcasing the JD 7520 and Yenko!
That's awesome! That old girl is strong!! I worked at a J D dealership in the 80's we had a M&W just like that listed to it scream a many a day! Great video!
Awesome video. cool to see how the dyno works for a tractor over a car or truck.
ole school tunage i love it my granpa has one of these tucked in the barn
My WI friend bought his own dyno to test his 1155 MF, V8 Perkins, yep, he had dyno wheel hopping, to much power, and to small dyno! Stay safe, great video again!
Loved this content
I gotta say I love your 7520. That thing is cool.
That was amazing!
Standing tall 7520 awesome great video
Great video
you have some really nice equipment...
great fleet of John Deere tractors.
That was great thanks 7520 good stuff
I'm wondering what the newer deere's will be fit for after 45+ years....love the video s. Keep her lit.
Old school cool luv it
Awesome, the 7520 sounded real good didn't see excess smoke from what I could see, impressive, those 521 motors super tough, but of I mute have one concern is it appeared as though with the 4230 that it was turned off right after dyno with no cool down time maybe I'm wrong, cool video guys
It's a fact that most 6030s and 7520 left Moline with 190-200 Hp
Nice work keep it up👍👍
I ran Deere. Four wheel drives from 7720 through 8770s you will feel better and cleaner and are safer by keeping the tractor clean and in good repair! They fo have air conditioning! Heaters windows that close. To me if I came up to a operator with the door open trash on the floor it was time to look for different help. It is both very Hot and Pretty Cold in Western Kansas ad well as over the good ole USA. But it always seemed to be a better day when a person cares and prides themselves as part of a good team. Best if luck to you
Nothing like a Fleet of JD’s from old to new! Not a farmer or have driven a tractor but I love me some Green n Yellow machines!
Looking forward to the next video
M&W dyno. The University of Nebraska used those to warm tractors up before testing them on a real dynamometer.
That’s 7520 is a beast
Pretty sweet.the old girl still got it
Man I know Yenko is smart as shit and he does everything with you, but I can’t help but be nervous as hell watching him run around that PTO shaft. Badass video tho
Im sure the cold air will add a few hp. it sure does on combines when it gets close to freezing
Having tested tractors on a chassis dyno i have compared to a pto dyno and the losses some of the drive lines and transmissions take will surprise you
I definitely think you need to add another classic John Deere to the fleet of big time brutes
A 4960 would be a good choice, ours had 15,000 hrs on it
Our 2950 always had issues with the coupler that drives the Hydraulic pump
I remember using one of these back in the early 1980s.
Fun to see the 7520 running strong! So do you think she burns 18/hr when it's in the field?? A green Steiger would compliment pretty nicely.
Before you take the injectors out, take a temp gun and check the exhaust manifold at load and see if there are any differences from one to another. If one is cooler than another you may have issues on that hole.
I don't know if they are still doing Mercruiser turbo kits. In the late 70's they used my boat to develope a kit for the 255 hp 350 Chevy. I still have the boat.
Alright there lads..
Question...
How does that machine measure FUEL consumption.?
And...
What did you mean by 'pull' or 'pulse' on 1 & 4 on the first tractor.?
Oh, and... I LOVE the lightbar on the cab of the 7520..!🥰!
LOVE THE VIDS.🥰🥰....
KEEP'EM COMING.🤞🥰....
RICH(UK).🥰🥰🥰.!.!.
my 752 was upgraded to 619 cubes and dynoed at235 at 1900 pto speed, would pull 255 at 2150
We have a 4520 and it’s running 200 horse other than the motor competly stock rearend has help up fine and we’re a little hard on it back up planter tractor and disk always disk tractor
I hope Yenko got some of that beef.
Now clean the sediment bowl screen on the 7520 and run it again ,retime the 4230 and check mark on pump.
It is nice to know about the 4230 because it might have gone the way of the tractor out back with a "window in the block". Duffy Ag doesn't need more of that, too expensive. But the fact the tractor that Chris re-did 10,000 hrs ago is still healthy means a lot. It means he does good work. He seems self depracating. Thus he has more strength than he realizes. Sometimes good sometimes not. Just so he doesn't climb under the chopper head putting pins in and have it drop 6 inches. We do not want that in any way.
So with the live and non live pto, if you're driving down the road with say a mower on the back. Is the mower slowly rotating if it can never be fully disengaged?
Super vids, with temperatures like that how come you don't have cabs on all machines? We don't have the extremities of your weather here in Ireland and i have never sold a new JD without a cab.
Cost, lots of open station machines in the states still even new ones
I didn't see any smoke on the 4230 ,because of that i'd be checking fuel filter. On a good day a 4230 is only a 100 hp.
Near where I live, theres an old 7520. I have always wanted to buy it. What are your thoughts on them?
Wow 40 years and still up to snuff
Hook your drive shaft to it on your Dmax 😎😎😂😂. (Joking) lol
just curious is the 4230 powershift or a syncro
Are you ready for the next storm this week I know I am
Want a loader for that m series? Guy I work for wouldn’t mind selling his. We are in Michigan right off 80-90
6:40 Now its just Air Cooled..!
Hopefully when the injection pump was fixed they set the fuel right for that tractor?? It would not be the first time that a shop didn't set the fuel rate right on an injection pump. Some shops won't set the pumps higher than spec's because of liability. Yup, pull the injectors and have them for the right pressure and spray pattern.
I saw a guy get his 7520 up to 300 horsepower so crank that thing up
What's up
I seen 750 pto to
Dyno Don Nicholson and Yenko !
Hi your 2950 will put out more HP then 85 // 1981 We had new 2950 + 2750 JD . the 2950 at ten year old were putting out 101/102 each
Strain gauge measures torque, you know it’s 540 so you figure hp based off the calculation.
I guess 205 for the 7520
are those two guys your brothers
9:17 i dont understand why they just dont bend them down back to the tractor, like a 180 then put a steep diagonal slash cut on them.. weather wont get in them & it would pretty much blow out the side
Those jd are nice macheanery we never had meny jd my granpa had jd always thought their great looking tractor just always benn around ford and case but ill say the new red case tractors have made me a case equipment guy to a i would not recommend a case to my worst enemy fiat heston made great tractors we have a heston and its like a sports car of tractor
Hi
Ad the millenial farmer would say"thats what she said " !
Their is bone yard in newyork he has alot of jd call mickfattens in sheron springs ny see how much a holeless block will be if he has one problem is old deers need rebuild every 8000 hours from what i hear
What happened too the blue pick up looks like front end damage
There's a bunch of previous videos. Cracked some pistons so engine got pulled and is at the machine shop currently. Pull the front clip off to get it out
Let the big dog bark
So when you are dynoing the pto is just free spinning and not actually being activated
what?
@@chrisefta751 What in the name of sweet jesus are you bullshitting about? How do you think a dyno works? Ive never read such a stupid comment in my life!!!!
So with those old motors with lots of hours they get tired you will never get what the factory says is stock horsepower for a brand new motors when they are 20+ years old unless you replace old parts on them. It’s just how it goes their like us over years of work and abuse ya get tired never as strong or fast as you used to be!
5th comment 🤷♂️
New subscriber here. I have always loved the 7520's. That and the 6030 are dream tractors for me. Loved the video. Keep 'em comin. Don't visit my channel... my tractors are pretty lame compared to yours, lol.
Thanks for the sub! and they definitely are great tractors
The 4230 can't be a 1979 as they were only built from 1973-1977
I agree also if it came from the factory as a ROPS it is a bit of a rare bird. Probably a 73 or 74.
Yep
The only 6030.here flipped the Donyo.at John Deere dealer 235.and spend bearing
