There are dozens of sights on rebuilding high performance engines, and transmissions, so its grate that you have finely decided to drop a build video. I think this is only your second one in all the years I've watched you videos, so i hope you keep it up, i mean everybody knows how to take one apart now from all the tear down videos you have made., now teach us how to assemble one or two. or three or a lot. I'm Shure your sponsors would like for people to see you using there parts. Sonnax and Transco .That way we all know that you do use there parts. Thank you Richard . You should install a small gantry Crain to lift those tyranny's and save you shoulder, something small that will fit under your work area. You don't need another shoulder surgery.
Yes, you rock Richard! I've been waiting for a 6L80/90 build! I'm a Mopar guy but I wanted to know more about the GM Assemblies. Thank You 😊 Hi Teresa ☺️
Thank you for the build, Richard. Automatics have always been a mystery to me. Watching them come apart was educational. But a build imparts so much more knowledge. Not that I think I could do it. If I lived nearby I'd drop off my 92 D350 just to see if I could get more than 3 years out of a transmission.
Richard, the video we have been waiting for! More awesome information than my brain can comprehend in one go, but WOW. I know this is just 'assembly' at the end, and there was SO MUCH that went into the component build up, and maybe you can touch on those in the future. Again, best channel on the You Tube for this kind of content. Truly a great teacher. You explain things that even a computer geek like me can understand. :) Those clutch hubs...interesting story. Worked for a robotics company that developed a 6 degree of Freedom force sensing robot that put the clutch hubs into the Ford AX4N clutch packs. It was all done manually and was a MASSIVE ergonomic issue before this. We had another robot that took the finished clutch pack and inserted it into the housing. Why? Because the assembly line workers were slamming the pack down into the planetary and rotating it like you did until it dropped in. It would damage the hardened Planets and Sun gears when they did this. Ford was seeing trans failure inside of 15K miles because the chipped pieces would grind down those hardened planetaries or the sun gear stripping them. It was about a $40m warranty issue per year. All because the line worker wouldn't do it "right", and since...well...the employ type, they would walk off the line when told to do it right. SO...A robot came in and did the job for them. Warranty on that item IMMEDIATELY dropped off the map. Too bad that it was a bit late for that trans, I think they only got 2 years before the AX4N was replaced....mainly because of the assembly worker issue.
I am so happy to see a build video from you. This is fantastic, thank you so much. Do you have 1 channel or 2? Are you posting to the original channel? So, it's the next day and I just finished watching the last half. I think you could have eaten off of that transmission. A true artist at work here.
19:36 It warmed my heart to see you use that speed handle as you did. It’s a rare sight to see in a YT video. Most youngin’s are so proud to have an expensive battery impact to zing those bolts down. That is “some special stuff” right there.
Wow! We got an assembly video! Thanks Richard, it's so good to see you, Teresa, and Annie back. (Even if she's protecting the house)!! Keep the good content coming!!
We gotta see ms Teressa do a rebuild on a 6l80 she’s probably a master at it after watching you build so many of them😅 Nice and informative vid Mr Richard we appreciate you
The Assembly videos are so much better IMO to Me.. Great video. Tell you what, hope YT giving good bonus for advertising, My first video watching on YT that had 8 commercials for a 38 minute video. Kinda crazy
Am I seeing this right? Is this an assembly video? Holy smokes. This was already a great week for me going back to work n now this. Might be time for a lottery ticket
Really good to see one go back together. I like watching you tear one down, but seeing how it assembles is even better. I would love to see you work on a TL70 or TL75. Keep up the great work!
I started as a parts cleaner for engine and tranny rebuilds. At first it was a bit challenging to meet the clean that my boss required. After learning those standards I moved up to assembly. It made a lot more sense then, we had very few comebacks and I know a few of the stuff I worked on is still going strong. The person prepping the parts is just as important as the person assembling. I even worked on a top fuel sand rail team just cleaning parts.
thanks for the video was entertaining not like i would ever be assembling one haha master at his craft careful you aint young anymore we dont want you getting hurt then we wont have any more videos
Well I'll be damned!!! Four years of non-stop 4L60E and 68RFE teardowns and this appears. Who would have thunk that transmissions can actually be re-assembled.
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO ASK FOR A REBUILD AND LOW AND BE HOLD YOU DID ONE . NICE ONE RICHARD AND THE THUMB HI TO CODEY AS WELL . ANNEY SLEEP MY BEAUTY. ⚘⚘⚘⚘
I have heard on a couple of videos on setting up clearances. I have yet to see a comprehensive show and tell on setting clearances. I would enjoy such entertainment because I would never hold one responsible for me building my transmissions from youtube videos alone. Also, what manuals on rebuilding do you recommend? Thx for the videos🫡
Sweet transmission Richard. You always do such great work. Mind If I may give a bit of advice? Well, that is a moot question since I am going to anyway. Why not put a small swing crane either manual or electric to lift those. No one, including yourself, wants you to get hurt. Those get pretty heavy after awhile. Cheap way to save your body. Keep up the great work.
Hi Richard & Teresa, Love your videos. I have a 2002 Trans Am with a 5.7 LS1 with 114k and a 4L60E. I have two issues, one: harsh 1-2 shift, and two: a clunk after a 3-2 downshift then step on the gas. After going back in to 3rd no more clunk. Could a rebuilt valve body with Sonnax upgrades help or is this something deeper than the valve body? I am looking for a direction to proceed, any help is appreciated. Thank you.
I was just adding to the statement. To anybody who says otherwise, they would have to consider how he still has a business or why people would even bring their vehicle to him to work on if he only takes stuff apart and doesn't put it back together
GM dealer texh here. We are seeing a few 6L90s come through with the output shaft breaking clean from the ring gear. Are you using a GM output/ring gear or is there an upgrade available somewhere?
AN ASSEMBLY VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! Make it a multi part video next time with setting up all the clutches...please!
💯

This man is a national treasure. I would trust him with any of our vehicles without hesitation.!
Anyone else notice he putt that hole thing together and his gloves are still clean. Like I'd eat with them gloves on there so clean lol
Good to hear Cody again!!
Thank you very much for showing us how you assembled them. You are extremely knowledgeable God be with you and the boss lady.
Nice work Richard ... And Teresa . lol And thanks for showing the assembly . :)
Thanks Richard & Teresa for finally posting an assembly video!
Meticulous and so knowledgeable. You are an artist and such a pleasant individual to watch.
One of the cleanest smoothest assembly of a transmission on you tube bar none.
Good morning Richard and Teresa finally an assembly video awesome 😎👍👍
Great to see the grand master at work! Finally a build video ! Thank you both Richard and Teresa!

Ive been waiting for a assembly video since I found your channel/channels, Thank you! Brilliant!
It's official now, education involves teardown and reassembly.
Great job Rich.
Nice to see you finish a video with clean gloves and a dry assistant for a change. Pet Annie for me.

That’s one hell of a piece of engineering nice work by all 👌🇦🇺
Thank you so much for putting one of these together. Made my day

It's so awesome to finally see an assembly video hopefully there is more to come of you building transmissions as well as disassembling them
It was nice to see a build video, hopefully we'll see more of them?

Power impacts are great for disassembly, but shouldn't be used for reassembly, IMO.
You really should build in a small overhead gantry crane in your new shop! 23:53

Glad to hear Cody in there! I enjoyed his vids back on the day!
Yes, sir Cody is one of the family. He is a very loved person
Loved seeing the old speed handle wrench come out. Great video!
Thanks for the build video guys!
Thank you so much for the assembly videos! Especially a built unit!!!!
So cool to see an assembly video!!! Someday you should talk about ATF and what you use and why Richard, thanks!!
So great to finally see how they go together. Nice

Awesome keep doing these!
I use a Ford Modular Head Bolt to lower the carrier down in the case.
Very good video really enjoy watching you work on these... Im a GM man myself self going to be doing a 4l60e build for my 98 Z71 👊
I love seeing the parts that I program for manufacture get put in

Thanks for showing a few tricks of the trade. Really enjoyed the assembly video keep them coming
Show us how to build a turbo 400 for 800 wheel
Nice video guys.
O dam!!! A build video!!!

no wind? I dont believe you, lol....have a good day guys
I wish I could afford to send you my 6l90 out of my ZL1, not that i need it but I'd prefer you to be the one who builds it for me
Finally an assembly video! Please please do more!
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SEE a collaboration between you and Dave’s garage! You build the trans, he builds the motor
Dave auto are crooks, Richard is NOT.....
Thank you great video
A true skill that is being lost. Thank you for sharing the knowledge
So, is this your new, permanent YT channel or is "someone" re-posting your videos on the old channel? Either way, Welcome back!
I thoroughly enjoyed this Richard. Thank you sir.
We like the long video,, it's not like most of us can assemble one of these modern day complicated transmissions..
Thank s
Awesome video, Richard!
Oh my - an assembly video!
Are you running a Davis VPS on the Dirty Bird? that with a Holley Dominator is the best wheelie control ever!
Assembly video!! Keep ‘em coming!!!
Education is key
Make these as long as u want

Tricks of the trade or just an assembly video. I only remember one other video where they put one together.
Great work
Maybe I missed it but I believe you’re supposed to install the other 4 inserts from the zip kit center support seal kit into the valve body.
How do you know soo much Richard? Your a very brilliant man.

Yes sir, I’m going to be doing that. I found one at Harbor freight I think that’ll work perfect
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 Glad to hear that. We are not spring chickens anymore. LOL

I'm curious as to what you are lubing everything with and also the brand of torque wrenches you are using.
Thank you Thank you
Great job 👏
I guess RUclips is not sending notifications out.
I wasn't notified of the last 3 videos posted.
If that keeps happening, let me know would you please
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 sure will
To all the naysayers that say Richard only takes them apart. 😝
Or else how would he still have a business if he only took them apart?
@@Richard-n2w1g You would have to ask them. I am not one of them.

How do u clean the housing so clean
Did you have to drill the really tiny hole in the pump? I did once, so afraid of breaking the drill bit.
Can you build me a 6L90E the same as this one?
GM dealer texh here. We are seeing a few 6L90s come through with the output shaft breaking clean from the ring gear. Are you using a GM output/ring gear or is there an upgrade available somewhere?

Can you elaborate whats going on with the old videos being reposted on the other channel?

What happened to original channel and this looks like a different shop?
