Hands down she deserved the Oscar that year. The character that she and Blake created and expertly executed is deliciously memorable and will live on and on and on.
They had to give Jessica Lange the consolation prize for Tootsie, since everyone knew she was losing the Best Actress Oscar to Meryl Streep that year. Tootsie’s real supporting actress (Teri Garr) was none too happy about that “category fraud” either!
Lesley Ann Warren should have gotten an oscar for that performance. She carried that movie in every scene she was in and her timing was impeccable! I do believe she was my favorite character!
The Oscar that year went to Jessica Lange in Tootsie... she was very good, but could have been replaced by almost any actress. Lesley Ann Warren in Victor/Victoria, could not have been replaced by anyone else. She should have won. She was absolutely wonderful in this role.
Lesley Ann isn’t exactly chopped liver. I thought the first question was (unknowingly perhaps) condescending. Her performance in VV added greatly to this wonderful film.
I've always felt that Supporting Actress Oscar was given to Lange by default. She was nominated also in Lead that year but everyone knew it was going to Meryl. I would have given it to even Teri Garr before Lange.
She was great in Frances, but no way was she going to win over Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice so I believe the Academy gave her Supporting Actress as a Runner-Up Prize. I would have given it to Lesley for her iconic Norma Cassidy
The idiotic thing about the film is that any intelligent person could mistake or except Julie Andrews as a man.....her features are way to slight to be a male...
She's remiss as a mother taking her son to see her do sexual or call it lewd things in a movie.......he'll never get his mother's rear end out of his mind..
What she did with that character was beyond comparison. It's so odd to hear her talk about being concerned about her performance. She walked away with the film

I watched her in Cinderella when I was 10 years old and loved her ever since.
Aaaaaàamen!
Same

Agree!
She is a great versatile actress who has had a great career. Just love her so much !!!
She is BRILLIANT
Yes!!!!
Beautiful and impeccable comedic chops. 💖
Uniquely beautiful and expressive actor!👍
Yes, she should have gotten the Oscar that year! 😂❤😢
I fell in love with Leskey Ann Warren when this movie came out; I was twenty-five.
She stole the show in Victor Victoria! (And with such a superb cast, that is really saying some!) still one of my favorite movies of all time. ❤
Yes Leslie, you scored a grand slam home run with that delightful movie.
She was BRILLIANT in this Movie!!!!! xoxoxooo
That “Chicago” number that embarrassed her son, was a real show-stopper; probably responsible for her Oscar nomination.
Your right it should have stopped the show and the police should have raided the place.
One of my all time favorite characters in film. Shudda won the Oscar !!
How did Jessica Lange in Tootsie win that years oscars over her performance in this movie which she steals every scene
Great question ….Lange was so annoying in that role

It is a wonderful complement to an actor to say they have disappeared into a role. She does that!
I love her! She was so darn funny! 😆
Choose me is one of my top ten favorite films. Thank you.
A tour de force performance.
Je ne comprends pas votre message
Sure everyone should be able to handle seeing their mother do one of the sexiest dances ever recorded on film ....no problem..
She created that role. . .
We’ve come along way since the days of using blush as contour
I always considered her to be on the same level as the rest of the cast.
Hate to "hate" her character, sympathize for her losing.
I wonder how she got along with Julie Andrews.
So Auguste Balls was a waiter back then. I didn't know that..
An interviewer that doesn’t know the name of the character… 😨 I’d have corrected him.
To Tom Cruise,
You chose fame and I chose to live like a trailer park King 👑.
💪😆🚬 💨🌿 Ain't life Grand💚
If you have seen the film you know that Leslie missed her real calling....she's a great stripper.
He’s not the most empathic host… and he loves his own voice.. No sub.
The idiotic thing about the film is that any intelligent person could mistake or except Julie Andrews as a man.....her features are way to slight to be a male...
Accept. But you're right: nobody could think she was a man.

Amazing and screwed out of the Oscar
