Women's football: Do I personally enjoy it? No. Do I appreciate and respect that it's a thing?: Yes. Is it on the same level as Mens Football?: No. Do I want it to stay and carry on? Yes.
Problem I also notice is if onana for example makes a mistake he gets mocked and he's called a bad goalkeeper blah blah blah but if a woman keeper makes a mistake we mock women's football as a whole
yes, a lot of it is just sexism. the goalkeeping is the worst part of it tbf though, although as the keepers are not as tall you get quite a lot of goals from the halfway line over her head, which is pretty great.
@@UserTheLion7722 Yep, like all those useless compilations made my by tater-tots & their ilk where they'll show mistakes from the women's game & then contrast them with worldies from the men's game. Like, do you not think I could do the same thing in the opposite direction, mate? Every single footie loving kid in the 90s had Nick Hancock's Football Nightmares on VHS, ffs.
@StephenC-k5o yeah but male footballers are better than female footballers I agree with tht but let's not judge them by one person's mistake cuz in the men's game it happens as well we should allow the women to hve their own game and instead of comparing sam curr to the likes of Drogba we can compare her to other female footballers and not hve to make it a gender competition
The level of women's play has skyrocketed during my lifetime. Even as someone who doesn't watch games, highlights alone show how big the shift is, and viewership is rising along with it. I hope it continues. The sport has big names and recognizeable international stars, which was never a thing before. Goalkeeping is by far the aspect lagging the most. Women's smaller size and lower athleticism holds them back there the most. However, it makes for more goals, so it isn't all bad.
Yeah i always thought that smaller pitches and goals would really benefit the womens side, issue is alot of the allure for these games is the stadiums they play in all due respect.
@@danielmcgrath680 I actually think the mens pitches and goals probably need to be bigger. Especially the goals, the size of a goal hasn't changed in the past 100 years but the average size of a keeper has gone from 5ft 8 - 5ft 9 to like 6ft 3. Keepers are too big for the old goals now.
@@mintaz1602 I actually completely disagree. Most pitches in the prem are the same size as Old Trafford, Etihad and Emirates which are considered big pitches and i think its kinda perfect. Big enough to get rinsed for pace, small enough to not literally pass out from pressing. I also think the goals are fine. Are we seeing a drought in goals scored from a favourable xg position?, pretty much all 1on1s go in or atleast you except them to. Im not seeing it tbh
@@yeahbutnobutyeahbutno7479 You can disagree that's fine because it's definitely an opinion not fact. But you can't use the XG model to suggest anything because the current XG model is based on the current size of the goals and the keepers so it doesn't really mean anything in this debate. What is true is that we have seen much less goals modern football than classic football. Although last season did reverse this trend so maybe we are starting to see the attackers starting to get the upper hand again.
Right before the 1921 ban by the FA, there were numerous womens matches getting 40k+ attendances, which was often higher than mens teams at the time. On boxing day 1920 there was a charity match between 2 womens teams which got 53,000, which was higher than the FA Cup final that year.
As a woman living in US, a huge football fan. I think maternity leave is more important than equal pay in sports. There are a lot of issues that only apply to women in US that require solutions over who gets paid more to kick the ball.
Thought it was super interesting that Arsenal have had their first ever pregnancy on the team with Amanda Ilestedt. Saw a video today where Katie McCabe was talking about how it was great for the club to learn from the process so that it will be easier for the next person.
That's such an interesting topic. I'm an Ac Milan supporter and they just announced a maternity package for players that decide or happen to become mothers! This is such a refreshing thing to see
As a barca fan, for the past few seasons, where the men's team is not in a good form, I always tune in the Femeni's match to cope. The femeni team never fails to deliver and give joy to us fan especially during those hard times lol. I respect both.
We heard We came We stayed 💙❤️ I love that team so much cos they gave us so much to celebrate, playing amazing football and winning trophies. I hope it continues with the new coach
I’m a season ticket holder for my local NWSL team. The games are the highlight of my week and I’ve found such a sense of community in the NWSL fan base as a whole. I’ve noticed that even if we are fans of rival teams, we can bond over our love for each women’s soccer
As a Chelsea fan, watching the women's team has been like a comfort blanket these past two years. On a more serious point, I think people have to remember that not long ago even at the highest level a lot of the players were still semi-pro, they were working part time jobs. The standards have been improving very quickly very drastically, but it still can't happen overnight. That's part of what makes it exciting to me, the fact that we're seeing a sport in an era of rapid growth before it feels completely corrupted.
Same.. Been following the Woman's team actually thanks to Fifa but it is exactly as you said.. Kind of comfort blanket and a nice change from the chaos in the man's team 😂 I actually went to my first Chelsea match to watch the woman's a few weeks ago and it was really cool.. It was just chill
It's also refreshing to see Womens football Remind me of football basics, the good old days Fast, direct, even the players enjoy themselves more It isn't as complicated tactically as the men game Or at least that is what i think about it
As a Barca fan I can relate, and that was what brought in the numbers at the Camp Nou, the men had been losing a lot while the women were winning, the fans just wanted something to celebrate and the women gave them so much more, they came to watch them and stayed woth them, our women's team has arguably the biggest fanbase 💙❤️
As a Canadian, I followed our women's national team far more closely than I did our mens national team for the first 18 years of my life. Prior to about 2019, Womens soccer was the only reason the sport was semi relevant in Canada. The quality of womens soccer has skyrocketed massively over the past ten years. And as interest in womens soccer increases, they'll make more money. I have no doubt that rapid progress will continue to be made in the sport.
they agreed to be paid what they were paid and then complained, the mens teams get money from a pool of all national teams which completely over shadows the money international womens teams make.
Hello, Barça fan here. If I’m not mistaken for the first time in history our women’s team has been “sustainable” on its own since 2022/23. They announced a profit of 1-2M. It’s a great step in the right direction but there is still a long way to goal. I believe some changes should be made but then again, it’ll take time.
I regularly follow Barca women aver since EA added women to Fut ….watching them is pure joy 9/10 times….they score like 5 in one half and the passes are immaculate
I think the next generation of womens football is very promising. So many girls today love the sport, and I'm always proud to hear about local girls signing for big professional clubs. That investment and experience can only fuel the next generation to be better and better. We should all get behind that and be supportive.
I never went to a woman's football match, until my niece wanted to go, she's only 5 but absolutely loves football, she's already told me "I want to play football when I grow up" she always wants to play football with me, her dad or her brothers
In 2022, I went to Kingsmeadow to see the Chelsea Women play for the First Time. I was only following the USWNT at the time. Met Lauren James before the Match. Then we were recognized by the Club when they noticed we came from Atlanta with our Flag & Scarves. Started following the Chelsea Women after that. Emma Hayes now a Legend after leaving her post. Now she's in America where she started her Coaching Career with a Gold Medal in Hand. My Queen of Cobham.
I live in Orlando. I’ve never been to a Women’s soccer game. Turns out the best female player of all time plays every weekend 15 minutes from home. Just bought tickets after this video
@@Vizeh I do some work at a club and have done filming for the women’s team at times, so I got to watch a lot of it and I really grew to love it, they ended up going up as champions and it was just great to see
I once went to a Serie A match, Napoli VS Hellas Verona. Instead of "normal" ballboys, there was Naples' women team (not affiliated with Napoli) who just trained on the sides, not bothering anyone, and getting the balls on the field. They seemed so fast and intense, and I appreciated them, all while enjoying the game. It was a fun moment, and I'd love to see more interactions between men's football and women's football like this
Women football's quality issue is not exclusively due to biological differences, but due to the lower standard, where the gap between good and bad players is huge as the investment on the sport is lower and it feels like most players are lacking competitivity. I believe that if the correct investment is made on the club structures, the future players will attain a level that most football fans will consider as worth their time to go to the stadium and support their teams
I actually like watching Austria's women's national team since they played in the 2017 Euros. I've been to a qualifiers game at my club's stadium and the atmosphere was great.
It's a situation where the women's game is still gradually progressing as a whole but I do love to see that Europe at least is making more of a push for it in recent years rather than just letting the Americans dominate the world stage. Ideally, with the more competitive it gets, the more interest it can attract for sponsors and networks to make the investment to be more viewed and gradually drive up more revenue for all parties involved. It will take time but given that the WNBA's going through something similar in the U.S. right now and showing signs of growth, I'm optimistic about women's football having that sort of gradual growth in a similar manner over the next decade. Just...sports are cool. And the more opportunities and chances we can have for folks living and breathing that want to pursue them in a professional manner and make a living from it, the better.
The equal pay thing was valid in the USA where women's international football is at least as popular as men's. So it's fair enough to ask for the same money. I don't see any female players in Europe asking for exactly the same money as the men, because they know they are not going to get it. I'm now a bit bored of super-optimised men's football and prefer the more old-school and relatable style of the women's game, which as you said, is getting better and better. Plus no VAR. It is possible to really enjoy football which is of a lower technical level than the EPL or other top men's leagues, those of us who love women's football are not fooling ourselves it's the same level. I went to see a Barça Femení match last season, loved the atmosphere and the football was really entertaining.
If the women's football was as popular as the men's they'd get the same money, the money is made from viewership, they don't generate as much money BECAUSE it's not a popular so they cannot be paid the same
As someone who’s lives in the US. Being so close to home with that controversy I think k definitely turns some fans away. With that being said though I do feel at least in the US it’s starting to feel better and more appreciated.
Proper take. You let us know what you wanted but you didn’t sell a narrative or try to persuade anybody to agree with your point of view. Just deliver the facts and keep it moving. I appreciate that
Women's football was the best way to get my other half into the game. We've attended a USWNT and about to go to our 2nd NWSL game (4hr drive to closest professional game). Equality/equity in sponsorship/ad revenue is the best way forward it seems. Quality might never equate but the pay and streaming rights can easily be a percentage/reasonable portion.
I love woso believe me. I watch every single Barca femeni game. But I don’t like it when people talk about sppnsorship or ad revenue as if it’s about gender equality. It’s about the market and woso’s value proposition to the sponsors in terms of how many eyes they can get on their games. I believe we should invest in increasing the quality of the conditions and the game itself and let sponsorship and ad revenue worry about itself as they’d likely follow. It’s not about gender equality. Woso is on the rise and I’m 100% sure that Sponsorship revenue will keep increasing (as it is already) as the game keeps growing.
I think it's great that womens football is becoming more popular. However, the reason men get paid more at the club level is that they bring in more money. Im from Ireland, and the womens team gets paid the same as the men since August 2021. The men took a pay cut
That's fair play to the Irish Mens National Team for doing that, however they likely will as the vast majority of their income comes from their club anyway
The drastic increase in quality in the last world cup was a direct result of the investment since women's football starting having proper academies 7 years priors. It's only up from here. The US and Canada will see themselves decline as everyone else passes them. I'm excited for the game
As someone who has played women’s football my whole life it is refreshing to see it getting more attention. I wish people who hate it for no reason would just stay silent rsther than going out of their way to cause negativity. Football is a sport that should unite
Real Sexism will always exist, but I'll be honest, I'll make sexist jokes and try to make people laugh (including my wife) with irony, but I know in my heart of hearts that I want the best for my fellow humans no matter what color creed or gender u are. So don't take the jokes too seriously some of us are just stupid children still and we don't wish u any harm or Ill feelings. ❤
Why are you caring so much about profitability?? Women's football has a massive disadvantage because of the DECADES of neglect from FIFA and clubs. It's not that women didn't want to play football, they didn't have an option. We need to invest in them because they deserve it. Your daughters, as any other women, should have the right to be able to play. Eventually they will all be profitable. We owe them a lot.
I have been watching Vizeh's videos for a while now. I love his content and love his moments and comments of occasional shithousery. But, I don't think I've loved a moment more than the few seconds that he spends about talking his daughters in all the time I've spent on this channel. Truly heartwarming to see a family man and a loving dad.
Growing up i have always followed football but my family has pushed me to also look closely at womens football and im happy they did. As a girl playing and watching football but knowing i would not make it big beacuse womens football has never gotten that recognition. But seeing how much the game has grown is phenominal, seeing the attendance numbers and the rivalries and atmospheres at the games has been great. As a Chelsea fan, watching the women's team has been so comforting. The standards are increasing we have sides winning quadruples and 5 peats and its incredible to see. Also as a england fan and a women the fact that the only trophy we have won as a nation in recent years has been the Euros and reaching the WC final is super amazing
As an American -Should Women’s Soccer be promoted: It already does. It also has a massive jump on the Men’s side. There is a natural High School -> College -> Pro pipeline in all US sports, and Men get the short end of the stick because Title 9 requires an equal number of scholarships for both genders, and Football sucks up enough that Men’s Soccer is usually cut, while Women’s Soccer makes up that balance. (That first point is also why the problem with getting Youths into Soccer isn’t because of the Club System. The Club game is life support for a dude who had his legs amputated.) -Should there be more support for the Women’s Game? Yes. But everyone wants it to grow naturally. Soccer also has one of the better chances of being a sport because the women who play are often more attractive and thus likely to get the attention of men. If you’re about to go off on the “that’s sexist rant”, where are the women? There are more of you than us, surely you can pack a stadium for a game, right? -Equal Pay for the National Team, right? Equal, no. But based on performance, definitely should have more. I think there’s a struggle between FIFA/USSF and Advertising that absolutely shuts down how well companies can support National Teams that the US likely gets pissed on with. -Megan Rapinhoe? Absolutely made me disgusted in the team to the point I stopped watching and was fully against any pay increase for Women’s Soccer. I can live with her having politics, I figure a good many who play have a different political viewpoint. But she had a definite distain for the country that should have disqualified her from being team captain and spokeswoman. You can keep her on the team with her antics, the team needs to be represented by people who love the country. Anyway. That’s my Tedtalk.
I mean I'm getting into women sports. Football when they had the world cup, I was a big fan of Spain. Fell in love with Bonmati & Salma Paralluelo. Also with Lauren James, Sam Kerr. Now I'm into women's basketball. A'Ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, Jack Young etc are moving me. I just enjoy it for what it is. Nothing more nothing less
I always knew women’s football as just, well really, football. I was only 9 when my dad had me watch the 2011 Women’s World Cup and I thought it was just as big as Men’s. I was so confused and a bit disappointed when people didn’t know what I was talking about when bringing up names such as Wambach, Marta, Sinclair, even Rapinoe before she became a social justice warrior. I don’t expect everyone to enjoy it like I do, but it does scream virgin when football fans have a weirdly strong and sexist opinion on it.
this video fails to mention a few significant events or facts about equal pay that can help contextualize the issue. the USA women’s national team made more revenue in 2016-2018 than the USA men’s national team; but were still given less wages. another issue in this video is that it justifies the unequal pay of women national teams using a revenue graph that only showcases club football markets. club and national football are not the same and should not be used interchangeably. the video also fails to mention that the USA women’s national team was able to settle the equal pay lawsuit and improve working conditions for themselves and for future players. lastly, we also need to speak about Norwegian football. who in 2017 pioneered equal pay between the men and women national football teams. where both the teams receive the same financial compensation, showing it can be done. these changes did not come overnight or without women fighting to create a brighter future for themselves and for the next generation of players.
And they made more during covid as the men were on a "pay to play" schedule and the women weren't. The US women's team had the same deal offered as the men which would've made them much more money but they refused negotiating for a more secure deal. Then they threw a fit because they would've made more money under the men's deal since they were successfull. They wanted their cake and eat it and sadly the US FA gave them what they wanted.
They get money from the men’s sports i mean really if they cant make money themselves the men sports just keep wasting their money on women sport that makes no money
Over here in Australia, our recent hosting of the Women’s World Cup had a massive impact on football that skyrocketed participation rates this season in organised matches (sunday league, 5v5 tournaments etc.) across both genders. As a nation Australia has historically cared less about football than other sports but it seems as though it’s finally becoming one of the more important and discussed sports about here. Seeing the impact of the women’s game post world cup is evidence that we do need to keep investing in the women’s game. At the end of the day though it is a very different game. As much as I loved watching Sam Kerr our bloody national hero score a screamer over Millie Bright (proper brexit defender) and Mary Earp’s (Pickford 2.0) flapping gloves, I don’t get up at 3am for WSL games but I do for the Premier League. The women’s game is on the right track but it’s ultimately your choice if you want to watch it or not.
Personally I really enjoy women's football. Followed it for 10 years now. I'm a spurs supporter in both the men's and women's team (yes, I know). They are for different people imo, as you said, the vibe of the crowd is completely different. I dont expect anyone to enjoy it just because they enjoy men's football, people can enjoy what they want. Also absolutely agree that the level isnt the same. I'm sure the Chelsea women's team would struggle in League 2. But I'm watching them play against other teams of their level. Same reason I regularly watch my local Sunday league team, I enjoy watching the sport. If people don't want to watch it fine, but I find it cringey when people put women's football down for stupid reasons or try to rate it in comparison to the men's.
"or try to rate it in comparison to the men's" tell the women to stop trying to compare their wages to the mens (and not even the mens, but the TOP FLIGHT LEAGUES men) and I guarantee that discourse will die down. they have bullied and lobbied their way into earning way more than a 4th tier side while being substantially worse and producing less money.
I love both men’s and women’s football simply because I love football as a sport, no matter which gender is playing as long as they have the same colors as my favorite club, I love and will support them no matter what 🎉
Well, I’m a United fan and I rode the coattail of the ladies winning their first FA cup last year to make myself better about the men’s abysmal season 😂😂
The US women's team actually lost their case in court with regards their complaint. They were offered exactly the same terms as then USMNT but refused them. What they wanted was the same bonuses. The male players just get an appearance fee, and bonuses, where as the female players got a based central salary plus appearance fees And other benefits.
If Women supported Women's football as much as Men support Men's football it would be thriving ... unfortunately some seem to think it's men that are holding it back when it's the complete opposite.
it's really not that simple. Women's football has been lacking in general financial support since forever, because people just generally saw it as a sport that's not for women or whatever. It IS getting a lot more support now and more visibility, which means the players get better and audiences more interested (and less close minded), but men obviously had a huge headstart on that, that's no secret.
@@laurii0512 that just is not true at all. Were all other womens sports banned? Because Womens cricket or rugby isnt popular, was womens football banned in other countries? Because its not popular there either
I'm busy enough watching the mens game. Although I know enough to appreciate how friendly & kindly the attendees are compared with the aggressive mens game.
I started follow women's football as a whole after World Cup 2019. I know Lyon, i know USWNT, but i really even didn't know back then that Barcelona had a women's team. World cup 2019 opened my eyes and introduced me to Vivianne Miedema, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati, etc. In my opinion, women's football will always most likely be associated with national teams performance like in world cup or olympics. Look at USWNT players, they don't even recognized while playing for their clubs and only relevant when they performed well in major international tournaments.
Men's football took centuries to become what it is today, Women's football is going through it now, expect its actually faster and safer financially for them then it was for men,s football back in 1900s
@StephenC-k5o to this level? Im not talking about attendance, more on the financial side of things, bit youre correct about not being "centuries" more like close to the 100y mark
i think the difference in club structures between the WSL and NWSL in the US is a really interesting factor into not only visibility and growth but finances and profitability. the NWSL is entirely independent from any men's clubs whereas WSL clubs are tied to men's. that WILL influence how and where money is spent by both the club and supporters. NWSL clubs are forced to make a name for themselves and survive without the financial or social help from a storied club name with big money, but they'll never live in the shadow of a men's team, either. it's very a different system with very different reception and definitely something to consider.
The numbers on attendance you are quoting are misleading as these are not averages. I don't watch women's football but I would watch a cup final or a tournament match. I did a quick search as I was watching this, women's prem this week. with in the first page this came up "Liverpool FC Women 1-1 Leicester City | WSL Highlights". The stadium is almost empty. Women's football is around the same level as 12-13 year old boys. The quality is just not there and is not worth watching unless there is something on the line.
As an american female soccer fan, the equal pay thing as far as i know was more geared to the narional team. In the 2010s the womens team did actually have the same level or even more attendance popularity as the mens team
That depends where you are from. USA women are way more successful and better known than the men and England women’s team actually win trophies. Imagine Harry Kane the best scorer but with no trophies in his 30s 😂😂
that's so weird, it's just football on a slightly lower level. having grown up on 3rd & 4th tier and not only premier league and CL, i really don't get the problem people have with women's football (except the really out there ones who think women shouldnt do sports because religion, but fuck those guys' opinions)
@@stevqtalent I have the same opinion on basketball. Everyone shits on women's basketball. Like, okay, you won't see those women doing what tall and fit American athletes do every game, but why are you acting like they're doing something awful for 40 minutes?
I very much respect the women's game & hope to see it grow even further. I've been following it since 2015 but I agree that the men's & women's game should be held as 2 different entities. The level of intensity is night & day.
Great and balanced analysis! There are many aspects to this and one thing we only this week once again could notice, was that for instance a club like Hammarby (Stockholm/Sweden) with the biggest fan base had many more male supporters travelling to their away game against Benfica than female, despite so many feminist women complain about less attendance on women's league matches. Another thing is that I personally after following the men''s game since the 70's now almost completely has gone over to women's football due to the development feeling more fresh and interresting, new faces, new teams and so on. Just like in tennis men's football has become so fast with hard hitting passes or shots that the beauty of the game sometimes disappear. From an aesthetic point of view women's football can be more enjoyable, also less brutal and playacting etc, combined with a more friendly environment, where fans do not hate supporters of other teams or look for trouble. Girls also seems more relaxed, more happy, more articulate, better educated generally, so there might be a matter of class as well. Less negative attitudes and often more interesting to listen to, more thoughtful in interviews and discussions.
I wish Women’s Football the best. However what I don’t like is Women’s Football being treated as a tool for politics. Or being treated as if it’s the same and on par with Men’s Football which it isn’t. Women’s Football has a long long way to go and who knows maybe in 50/60 years time it is on the same level, and tbh I hope it is. But that doesn’t mean it should be treated as a tool for politics, nor insult people’s intelligence with delusional statements.
@@ezraezra2928 yeah that's one of the reasons I like women's football especially in the international stage. North Korea's women's team are technically as good as italy's mens team. (in rankings, they would for sure lose against them)
@@manchesterunited35-2 Tbf, North Korea women has won so many trophies for the U-20 and U-17 in the past, especially between 2011 and 2024. Yet, the senior team's last appearance in the World Cup was back in 2011, which is very weird. I think North Korea women's team will be similar to the Belgium men's team when it comes to winning major trophies in international stages.
My wife and I played soccer in high school and college respectively. As we are both 34, I think soccer or football on the women's side has inproved...we just don't watch it often besides the world cup or euros.
Love seeing how the women's game has developed. People now actively getting invested in WSL teams and players is cool to see. The sport just needs more female fans to go to the games. Like the WNBA in Basketball, Women's football has been helped by the men's game financially when there hasn't been the same interest in their games. It's growing but still needs time.
The biggest issue with women's football is all the cheerleaders for women's football only engage in bad faith arguments and don't actually watch football or are actually fans of football. Hard to not get mad and annoyed at people trying to gaslight you about something you're passionate about
It's a general problem in society at the moment. The loudest demands are made by a tiny amount of 'activists' who aren't really interested in the product they're pushing for. It's like all these 'eco-warriors' who will protest for the weekend then go back to driving their gas guzzling SUV's on Monday morning.
I think one of the main problems the womens game has in gaining viewership is actually football fatigue. Anyone who supports a mens PL team already has a massive schedule of games to try and fit in to their week. It’s tough to find the time to watch the womens game on top of that
The fact that women were banned from playing until the 1970s is a huge reason as to why they are still not up there in terms of finances and fans. They are practically still in the 1960s/1970 when it comes to development and maturity of the sport. Give them some time and they will slowly catch up. Ofcourse they will never be as athletic as men, but organisationally and technically they will improve.
@@sebastianbardon391 You can’t directly compare Serena Williams to Novak Djokovic. Novak would always win. Doesn’t mean Serena isn’t a world class athlete IN HER FIELD but with the difference in power you’re essentially rating people in an entirely separate field
Sometimes I enjoy watching women play football, I remember taking in a match between the U.S. Women's National Team and FC Dallas' U15 boys academy team back in 2017 and it was a very entertaining game finishing 5-2!
When Rapinoe was talking about "equal pay" in football, she was not talking about club salaries. She was talking about the money received from national associations for playing in international tournaments, etc. That money is pittance for professional men's players (most of them donate it to charity) & has little to do with market conditions. However, it can be a significant amount to women's players. Also, when it comes to the US, it's hard to deny that they deserve it when they are infinitely more successful than their men's team. Several national associations do pay their men's & women's teams equally, including England. The US did not & refused to do it. They only do now because the USMNT agreed to pool their money & split it equally, not because the association did the right thing. It's inaccurate to portray it as if she expected to be getting the same weekly wage as a male player. She wasn't thinking she deserved £600k a week because that's what Gareth Bale was on. She was in no way being delusional or unreasonable.
pray do tell how organisers raise funds for prize money? Is it magically wished into being so that it can be handed out to the most deserving? There is nothing sexist about understanding basic economics.
The women’s team had guaranteed contracts where they would be paid regardless of being called up, whereas the men were only paid if they were called up. If you’re going to have that extra pay security that comes with the trade off of a lower salary. The women were offered the same contract as the men without those guarantees and turned it down, then proceeded to publicly cry about it being unfair. The public crying PR campaign that followed enabled them to get guaranteed pay at the same pay as the men now, so now the men are now getting a worse deal as they don’t have pay guarantees. These dishonest tactics have made them extremely disliked by a lot of people.
@@aldobonaso3481It has nothing to do with economics, you melt. It's decisions made by administrators on how to divvy up resources. Do you think FIFA pays players directly or something? Besides, why do you even care? As I already said, the vast majority men's players give their international money away anyway. They don't want or need it. Why do you want them to have more when they don't even want it? That's incredibly weird. Almost like you have a vendetta against women or something 🤔
there’s so much shit misinformation abt it too. No, a team of 15 year olds did not beat the senior australian team; in a training friendly a team of 15 year old boys beat an 8 women team, half of which were also youth players. Also the chelsea women’s team beat the chelsea u18 team, and you can’t pretend for a second that the barcelona team ian’t genuinely excellent. I honestly think the biggest thing holding it back right now is a lack of competition. In almost every league there’s only one or two genuinely quality teams, so they just don’t have as much consistent experince against comparable opposition to improve their physicality, skills, and overall game 🤷♀️ the women’s club world cup is the only wonen’s club competition i watch 🤷♀️
higher yea, but it needs to come with more audience too. more audience equal more pay. you don't have rights to have higher wages just because you're woman, so you need to attract more audience. if they say women footballer need to get paid equally as men footballer, the answer is no because the viewership ain't the same, so the money isn't the same too
Something else I've also noticed. My friend is a Peterborough supporter and they don't appear on my feed that often because I'm a leeds supporter and not in the same division and admittedly Peterborough are a small club and i think fans would also happily admit that. However, somewhat regularly Peterborough women's team will appear on my feed despite them being i belive a semi pro team. This is when 1 person in particular scores for them. Because they're attractive. I know sadly men fetishising various women is a part of life but it's sad when as someone who wants to see the women's game grow the most support I see for it are men who 'support' one person in particular.
The important thing is: Womens football has to grow naturally. The equal pay debate, even though it had good intentions, made the sport look bad. The wages and fees in mens football are so damn overinflated make equal pay flat out Impossible.
I have a daughter, just 3 months old. Its fantastic that she can grow up and reasonably support womens football as easily as the mens. If anything access to the womens game is easier and the environment is more tolerant, kind and growing quickly. Uts exciting that she will see that develop over her life time. I'm happy to be dragged along ❤
It’s quite simple - how do you expect an industry that receives literally over 50x in revenue (which correlates with investment) to have the same quality? It’s silly to expect otherwise, and that’s why we need to support and give outsized investments into the woman’s sport so that it can thrive (as it is). Like Vizeh said, they were banned 100 years ago. They’d be a lot further along now if they didn’t have structural issues holding them back! Also - as any football fan, I want more football to watch, so can’t knock it down
The main issue could be how long would it need to be pushed and financially sustained by that original entity before it's seen as a burden. That's my main concern, would that glass ceiling be made because fundamentally I think it's a grassworks issue as you'll need to train younger girls to play football at a higher level early on which may takes 1-2 decades to see the overall quality level rise.
@@Vizeh we are talking about revenue figures that are 50x more! If you double the outsized investment towards the woman’s game (assuming breakeven, eg, Real Madrid of 7.5m, bringing it up to 15m), that’s 7.5 cost on men’s team, which is less than 1% of their revenue. Completely affordable (if not negligible). The footballer club should serve ALL players, not just the male players.
Fifa and uefa keep saying we want more games. Sure we do, but give the boys a chance to rest! They're exhausted and the matches suffer for it. Invest in women's footie. Top men's players could play over 70 matches in a year. That's way too much. Allow the girls to pick up the slack by making their tournaments more competitive and engaging.
@@Vizeh The sooner we invest on it, the sooner it will be sustainable. Young girlst interested in sports were always there, they missed the oppportunity. Imagine telling your daughters they can't play because it's not profitable.

I always watched the USWNT play in big games but fc 24 and 25 legit made me a big fan of women's football as a whole. I started watching as many games as possible and love seeing my club legends actually play irl 😂😂
i am loving all the comments about fifa - obviously knew that the women’s players are included but had no idea that anyone who weren’t otherwise fans of women’s football were engaging with that side of the game
I legitimately tried to watch a few games, its like going to your elementary schools kids football matches. No flow, and majority of the goals come from mistakes.
Sorry Vizeh I’m not getting behind why equal pay is a bad thing. They don’t want equal pay based off money, they aren’t stupid, they want equal pay based off percentages, which they currently don’t have. In addition, Rapinoe is mad about what the USWNT gets in comparison to the USMNT from the federation itself, which should be more since they have brought more success. I hate the word “agenda” when we talk about this, it’s something that should happen.
Success in terms of trophies doesn't always mean financial success. It wasn't US Soccer's fault when in 2016, after the women winning the WC, the prize money they got was still less then the men got the previous year after getting eliminated in the round of 16. The pay structure un US Soccer is still not equal today, before, the men had a stucture where they would get pay X if they win and Y if they don't, while US Soccer was literally paying the annual salary of at leas 20 players in the NWSL that were frecuently called up to the national team, and would pay benefits and insurace and a bunch of othere stuff for the women, and on top of that they were paying a bonus for winning games. Now, they get all the prize money together and give the same amount to everyone, and both teams have the same paying strucutre, and they still give extra benefits to the women that they don't give the men, so technically, it's still not equal.
it needs smaller fields, other rule changes, and a rebrand but people will still compare it to men's football keep your expectations low, if you can't match the other product
My problem with it is them constantly comparing themselves to men's football superstars and pay wages. Other than that, I just don't know why I should bother watching it when men's football is simply more entertaining because it is faster, stronger and more history behind it. Nothing about women's football is that different or noteworthy enough to watch it. That, and godawful women goalkeepers.

The equal pay dispute was about the national federation, where the USWNT were drawing bigger crowds but were severely underpaid compared to the men.
they agreed to be paid what they were paid and then complained, the mens teams get money from a pool of all national teams which completely over shadows the money international womens teams make.

They seemed so fast and intense, and I appreciated them, all while enjoying the game. It was a fun moment, and I'd love to see more interactions between men's football and women's football like this
Women have no place in sport or politics.
You know. In my opinion I find it has improved over the years (overall quality). Some of these players are legit ballers in their own right.
Equality of opportunity not equality of outcome though right? Let the free market decide.
I think it's great that womens football is becoming more popular. However, the reason men get paid more at the club level is that they bring in more money. Im from Ireland, and the womens team gets paid the same as the men since August 2021. The men took a pay cut

-Should Women’s Soccer be promoted: It already does.
The Club game is life support for a dude who had his legs amputated.)
-Should there be more support for the Women’s Game?
But she had a definite distain for the country that should have disqualified her from being team captain and spokeswoman. this video fails to mention a few significant events or facts about equal pay that can help contextualize the issue. the USA women’s national team made more revenue in 2016-2018 than the USA men’s national team; but were still given less wages.
another issue in this video is that it justifies the unequal pay of women national teams using a revenue graph that only showcases club football markets. club and national football are not the same and should not be used interchangeably. the video also fails to mention that the USA women’s national team was able to settle the equal pay lawsuit and improve working conditions for themselves and for future players.
lastly, we also need to speak about Norwegian football. who in 2017 pioneered equal pay between the men and women national football teams. where both the teams receive the same financial compensation, showing it can be done. these changes did not come overnight or without women fighting to create a brighter future for themselves and for the next generation of players.

"or try to rate it in comparison to the men's"
tell the women to stop trying to compare their wages to the mens (and not even the mens, but the TOP FLIGHT LEAGUES men) and I guarantee that discourse will die down.
they have bullied and lobbied their way into earning way more than a 4th tier side while being substantially worse and producing less money.
I love both men’s and women’s football simply because I love football as a sport, no matter which gender is playing as long as they have the same colors as my favorite club, I love and will support them no matter what 🎉

People tend to overlook how women’s football was banned for decades. They simply haven’t had the same time as the men’s game
@@laurii0512 and if women spent the same amount of money on footy as men do there wouldn't be a lack of funding....

@StephenC-k5o to this level?
I can probably count on one hand the times I've heard someone's opinion about women's football being positive
And rightfully so. It’s more the whole brigade that try to force it upon us and when we say we don’t like it we are ‘sexists’

I think it's great way to catch a solid game that's cheaper and has some great off field drama.
I mean North Korea just won the U20 women's world cup so that's cool

@@ezraezra2928 yeah that's one of the reasons I like women's football especially in the international stage. North Korea's women's team are technically as good as italy's mens team. (in rankings, they would for sure lose against them)

I think North Korea women's team will be similar to the Belgium men's team when it comes to winning major trophies in international stages.
My wife and I played soccer in high school and college respectively. As we are both 34, I think soccer or football on the women's side has inproved...we just don't watch it often besides the world cup or euros.
Women's football is a leach on men's football.

People should see football between the two genders as completely different sports and just appreciate them for what they are
How are different sports??The sport is the same, the difference is the players' gender.

@@PrehistoricPro exactly, there's so much misinformation and outright lies spread by sexists about women's football
pray do tell how organisers raise funds for prize money? Is it magically wished into being so that it can be handed out to the most deserving?
There is nothing sexist about understanding basic economics.
Have USA men vs. women, and we'll see who's delusional!
Its not as popular as men's football. But it still does deserve higher wages and more TV revune.
No
How
Why? I think you deserve money if you generate money. If you dont generate the money who should have to fund their higher wages?
No it doesn’t mate, they are lucky to get anything
higher yea, but it needs to come with more audience too. more audience equal more pay. you don't have rights to have higher wages just because you're woman, so you need to attract more audience. if they say women footballer need to get paid equally as men footballer, the answer is no because the viewership ain't the same, so the money isn't the same too
Something else I've also noticed.

Now, they get all the prize money together and give the same amount to everyone, and both teams have the same paying strucutre, and they still give extra benefits to the women that they don't give the men, so technically, it's still not equal.
it needs smaller fields, other rule changes, and a rebrand
but people will still compare it to men's football
keep your expectations low, if you can't match the other product
My problem with it is them constantly comparing themselves to men's football superstars and pay wages. Other than that, I just don't know why I should bother watching it when men's football is simply more entertaining because it is faster, stronger and more history behind it. Nothing about women's football is that different or noteworthy enough to watch it. That, and godawful women goalkeepers.
