Y'all are one of the first reactors I've seen that figured out that the skinless titan broke the bubble wall where the city resided outside, and that the second titan was actually the one that broke through wall Maria. Those info pages are really useful, so I recommend always reading them. This show is incredible, and I hope you guys watch the whole thing.
I always thought the show did a great job establishing geography with infographics and repeated lines and helpful unique names for each section... then i watched endless reactors get immediately confused thinking there is only one wall for some reason

I LOVE how this was a major criticism of season one back in the day. Video essayists were citing the "no one remembers after only 100 years" thing as a PLOT HOLE in 2014.

What I find most beautiful about "Attack on Titan" is how meticulously crafted it is every detail, every word, and every action has a purpose and an explanation. It's like an intricate puzzle where everything fits perfectly, making the story incredibly rich and engaging
Just so you know, any reactor that starts thinking this show is cringe ends up being the one crying and attached to the show by the end of it. Some good reactions ahead haha

I honestly think AOT is the best anime for first time watchers because it’s not really anime coded. There are heavy Germanic names and places and even the structure of the show is very western writing with intense action mixed in. The story is so in-depth that at some points it will leave you breathless.
The only problem is that everything else sucks after aot

i feel like it's one of the worst to start with because nothing else will be satisfying after it. i would start with stuff like demon slayer and vinland saga, maybe the big 3 and mha if they're open to watching longer series. ouran high school host club, fma, trigun, spy x family. blue exorcist. magi: the labyrinth of magic and kingdom of magic, as well as adventure of sinbad if you check out magi, soul eater, cowboy bebop, neon genesis evangelion. code geass. aot is one of the best written pieces of media, they wouldn't be satisfied with much after. it's definitely one of the ones you wanna get someone into because of how well written it is, but i would suggest vinland saga instead. even jujutsu kaisen is a little advanced for newbies.
definitely be careful of spoilers! aot fans are notorious for spoiling in comment sections, maybe get a friend to moderate to be safe! i can't wait to see how you feel as the show goes on, it's one of the best pieces of writing i've ever seen :)

Oh yea btw guys, not sure if it’s been said but, BE CAREFUL OF SPOILERS so don’t Google anything or look at stuff online about it. Also might be a good idea to get a friend or something to vet the comments? Sometimes the fandom can get quite excited and give way too strong of hints that aren’t at all subtle.
When the titans first attacked, they were around 9 years old. Upon joining cadet training they're 12. Graduation is after 3 years so they graduate at 15.
Also Armin is a boy.
The "fire-breathing" titan is called the armoured titan and it didn't actually breathe fire, it was highly concentrated steam.
To add the steam isnt a power its just from him running really fast getting very hot due to his size and speed uses alot of energy
stop spoilers. remember we didnt know that it was steam back in 2013

This comment is basically pointing out that this question of theirs will be answered. If he just put "All questions you will have about the show will get answered at some point", I guess that would be okay since it doesn't say which specific question will be answered. I think the best reactions are the ones where the reactors don't read the comments or only read comments that contain absolutely 0 spoilers. Even if it isn't an explicit spoiler, any comment that talks about anything about the show can influence the reactor's thoughts, predictions, and perspective of the show. I want to see what the reactor's unfiltered thoughts are about the show. So I would say that reactors watching the show 100% blind without reading any comments is ideal. Too bad this rarely happens and the reactors eventually end up getting spoiled on things by reading the comments.

I was an anime hater before I watch this anime. And now , This is my Favorite tv show of all time taking the place of my previous fav tv show breaking bad.
As others have suggested, I recommend switching to watching 2 episodes per video if you are only releasing one video per week. The episodes fly by.
Obviously do whatever works for you three, just a suggestion if you can make it work.

AoT was my first anime that wasn't Shonen (examples, Naruto, Dragon Ball) and it's what got me to explore other genres of anime and become even a bigger watcher.
One thing about this series is that you need to be incredibly patient ! No questions will get answered right away, but everything will make sense and you'll never have a question left unanswered

A great thing about AoT is that even some tertiary characters, over the course of the series like this asshole of a garrison troop, have well developed character arcs.
You don't get the 20% of the population thing.
They weren't sent out to retake the wall. Retaking the wall was the official line.
They were sent out to DIE. The loss of all the farmland between Wall Maria and Wall Rose means there wasn't enough food to go around.

when you watch anime you cannot expect western hollywoodized story telling of only flashy action and distraction. Anime is based on japanese story telling with 4 acts, and its main purpose even in medieval japan was not entertainment like the west. It is communication and messaging. So you cannot expect 100% avenger action and slap stick humour, this has plot character social psychological religious and existential themes that will require attention. And I say this because if you do not pay attention you will miss a lot of detail and be lost in the coming seasons. it requires thinking. Remember this is based on the Manga which is meant to be read and people would wait a week for the next chapter and some times months. So detail to keep the readers engaged is one of the main points. difficult to adapt into animation but it was done brilliantly. There are many Japanese cultural societal historical contexts and sub contexts weaved into this aside from the extensive Western European research that was done to build this world up, and I mention this, because it is related as to why it is not again pure entertainment and distraction and also why it does not have simple heroes and villains. All you need is an open mind watching this and not expecting a western media because it is not.
Love the way you analyze and doubt everything. I will love it even more when each of your doubts will be solved.

i’ll admit the first season is just a lot of world building and character introduction. if you think these next couple episodes are good, just know the good stuff and actual meat of the story is yet to come!
also, i suggest to really watch the show with an active mind. for example, how does each characters actions reflect humanity/society? get into the habit of doing that now and when we get to the deep stuff, it’ll definitely be easier to understand and follow along :))

So the three of them are 10 at the beginning, 11 when they decide to enlist, & 12 in that last scene where they've joined the military. They definitely look older than 12--its bc like the guy says, this training is gonna take 3 years, & basically the animation team just animated them to look the same throughout all of the cadet training. When the graduate the cadet corp they're 15, and that's when the majority of the show takes place

I used to be an anime hater until I watched AOT. This show is so much more than it appears on the surface. The story is so intricate and masterfully written I put it above shows like game of thrones and breaking bad, and it’s not even close. If you look at the highest rated tv episodes ever on IMBD, attack on titan holds 10 of the top 50 spots.

and also an advice some episode titles kinda spoil the show so its better not to read the titles at least not all episodes . in season one i think episode 16 or 17 not sure just ask about it
Watch till episode 5. The first few episodes are like an intro to the situation, how they operate and the characters. You will love it.

At the end of the episode they are like 15/16 years old since their training lasted more than 3 years
wrong, they were 10 at the start, 2 years later they join the cadets. At this point they are 12. From here training lasts 3 years so they will be 15 when they complete training
This story is based on Germanic folklore. The town itself is based on a real life medieval German/Bavarian town Nördlingen. The soundtrack is also primarily German, to be precise latin German, the language that woudl have been sung and spoken in that medieval era, with some English here and there. When the Japanese delve into a culture, they do not do so lightly for these kinds of things. I am glad you are stopping to read the info imges. They are important. I have watched this 5 times. Every time I discover something new. It is that tightly woven. Also though the dub is excellently executed, the sub even for Japanese anime industry standards is one of the best directed and performed. The feeling is easy to understand due to the expressions and vocal expression.

Later on in the anime you learn more about Mikasa and Eren and how Mikasa knows them I know that was a slight spoiler but not too big of one, also the Titan that was taller than the wall is called the Colossal titan
