Fun fact: in the previous episode, as the tower is going down you can see Bertholt going to transform but stops once Ymir tells them to get on her back
Fun little fact: the scene where Reiner was questioning how Ymir knew an old ancient language from reading a bottle label was foreshadowing for not only Ymir but Reiner also. We don’t realize that Reiner knows more than he lets on since we’re so focused on Ymir. It’s pretty genius. A foreshadow hidden behind a foreshadow.
also in the previous episode to this one, when the tower they are standing on is crumbling down and they are about to fall towards the horde of titans, at one point, right before Ymir jumping and transforming, you can see Bertholdt is about to bite into his hands to transform into the Colossal.

Sasha saying "Annie said she likes sweets which I thought was weird" is actually a pretty good observation by Sasha. Those in the Outer rings of the walls were farmers and hunters. It's unlikely that Annie would have ever tasted a sweet in her life unless she was lying about where she was from
Farmers, country people, poor people - know what sweets are. Farmers are literally the ones who are making the sweets - milk, fruit, sugar, fat etc. Those come from a farm. They might not be eating fancy sweets like the rich people in the interior but they still have pies, cakes or simple candy.

There are two types of reactions to this episode. 1. Goo!! Eren!! Hit the traitor!! 2. It's a lie... I can't believe it... No Reiner. You're a good person!
Then there are people like me who say 'Ok, so they're not from within the walls, so there is another civilization outside, and apparently they are titan shifters and don't consider themselves humans... and their fixation on Eren came after his reveal. Does this mean these Titan shifters are the dominant species outside the walls and the dumb titans are minions gone awry? No, not enough information for that, they get attacked by the Titans too. Is Eren actually of their 'nation' and Grisha was an exile? We have no backstory on him... was this insane war all Grisha's fault?'
I remember watching this scene being anime only and not spoiled for the first time. That scene was so damn tense. Probably one of the best transformations in all of anime. The cherry on top was Eren calling them traitors and turning too.
The most important thing in this show is a character's eyes. Even if they're not saying anything, if you look at their eyes it tells you everything they're feeling in that moment.

Bertolt, annie and reiener's mission is to complete doom for the people in the walls but they got attach to their comrades that made them to holdback on their mission and hesitate to finish their mission.
Without getting into spoilers, it's crystal clear at this point that all three of them betray themselves when it comes to fulfilling their mission. Reiner convinces Eren to just keep moving forward until he can wipe out all the Titans. There's no actual reason to do that. He also saves Connie legitimately, and legit has feelings for Historia/Christa. Bertholdt was the one who helped Eren learn the ODM gear enough to advance to the scouts. Annie, while the coldest of the three, very clearly had a soft spot for Armin. And if Armin hadn't survived their first or second encounters as the Female Titan, then her identity wouldn't have been revealed. But she didn't even come out and say she should've killed him.... During that female titan chase, Armin got the idea to wear their cape, since he assume this intelligent titan is seeking Eren. A nice detail, when Reiner came in to "fight" the female titan, he opened up his cape first and made sure Annie saw him.
15:07 One thing that’s always bothered me so much is the translation here. Bertholdt never said “why are you telling him?” when grabbing Reiner’s arm. The accurate translation is “what are you saying?”. Saying “why are you telling him?” is basically confirming the scout’s suspicion which would have been a clown ass move 🥴 some of the translations for the subs for this show are kinda whack
Was so revolutionary about this episode/chapter is that it doesn’t follow the norms about plot twist. Normally it you would have a build up with a big reveal but Reiner just casually reveal he’s the armor in a background conversation. It’s always funny seeing people react to it.
25:31 There were a few hints that if you are REALLY paying attention, you would know Reiner is the Armoured Titan. 1. When they were fighting the Female titan, she started to walk towards Eren the second Reiner broke free. 2. When Annie's identity was revealed, when she was about to turn into a titan in front of Eren, Armin and Mikasa, she said "I have failed as a *Warrior* ". When Reiner saved Connie from that Titan, Connie asked Bert "Has Reiner always been like this?" And Bert said "No, he used to be more of a warrior in the past, unlike now." (Also the name of this episode is Warrior) 3. In the same episode of point 2, they showed a flashback of Reiner and Bert showing Ymir's titan eating one of their friends but, don't you think it's a bit strange that some random kids were casually wandering outside the walls?? 4. Also, Reiner kinda looks like the Armoured Titan ngl lol the hair is way too similar
3. It doesn’t necesserarily mean that they were outside the walls, it could be that the titan or human has infiltrated the walls, that they were searching for something were the wall was broken or that someone has turned a titan near their hometown and so on… Also there is the scene were Reiner was with Conny in his village😂
Those are some of the more obvious ones, but there were a LOT more too. Start watching again from episode 2--there were hints and foreshadowing in EVERY. EPISODE.
For us westerners that watched that show with subs , that scene was awesome... all of us had that same feeling breaking the 4th 5th and 6th wall... asking to ourself...nahh that was an error in translation here in the real world or i missed something here in the real world...!! but then we do realize that what we read was indeed what was supposed to read. That feeling would have not be the same if we hear it in english.
That scene is one of my favorite scenes to watch in dub, because people actually literally miss what Reiner says, because it's portrayed so casually. It makes you have a double take, especially if you don't have subs to read to confirm what was just said!
In Japanese, Bertholt told Reiner "what are talking about?" instead of " why are you telling to Eren." That's casually translated part for a crucial moment.
ishiyama sensei may not be best manga artist when it cames to drawing but he is one of the best storyteller in the manga industry , , i mean look at how shock this couple was 👍
You know it's kind of been my peeve when the translation wrongly wrote "Why are you telling him, reiner?", He actually said, "What are you saying? Reiner?"
Until this day, after sooo many years, even knowing all that i know now, im never going to get over this betrayal! The shock, the pain, as Eren cried falling down i was crying with him!
Even reading this part in the manga when Reiner says that he is armored titan and Bertolt is the colossal titan was also certainly something that was difficult to comprehend too
Reiner had removed his Hood when they went to attack Annie so that she could see it was him and not potentially kill him. The CLUEs man. Geez the writing goes hard.
26:52 no, what they mean by "ivebeen here for too long and surrounded by idiots" and telling to himself "half-ass pieace of crap" means Reiner and Bertholdt have been in the walls for too long. Reiner is struggling if he is a soldier or a warrior. They didnt mean half human half titan.
This episode gets me every time. The sense of betrayal when they turn, but the feeling that they do it unwillingly out of pure duty... And the music... I need a tissue bro
This is always the episode I’m hyped to see the moment I see a new channel’s first episode come out. Absolutely monumental. It’s so confusing at first but coming back to it after watching the rest of the show, its such a huge “aha” moment and an entirely different but equally enjoyable experience.
This was the beginning of the end, the episode that made the anime just go from crazy to crazier, you guys above officially started the episode that sends off the rest of the anime
So funny hearing all your questions and you attempt to put the pieces together. Takes me back to experiencing this for the first time, this anime storytelling is top tier you'll get your answers 😂
There's a scene in season 1 where during the training arc, they talk about the titans that showed up at shiganshina. When you watch that the first time, you don't notice it, but after this episode, it's clear that it was done on purpose: the "camera" switched to Reiner and Berthold right at that moment.
Man I tell y'all, it's brutal watching these predictions and theories 😂😂😂. I'm here for it just to see how y'all gonna feel once you find out the actual. But really I'm half curious to see if y'all can actually figure it out, I doubt it though. The reality is so intricate and weaved through these seasons, I don't think anyone connected all the dots before the reveal. You two are entertaining though, for sure 🤣
this episode remains monumental. after years still, the music goes underneath and binds the revelation of this episode. This series... is one of the best.
The symbolism of the post breaking in that scene is to show how high the tension is. The scouts are aware of who the possible titans are and Reiner and Bert are deciding to make a last ditch effort.Reiner has had enough and he's slipping through personality disorder that he just casually drops his plan to eren. The moment that post snaps and echoes shows how tense both parties are in this final exchange.
In Episode 5 of Season 2 if you look closely when they are on top of the tower before Ymir jumps off you can see that Berthold was doing a pose where he was about to bite his hand to turn.
When I find s new channel that reacts to AoT, I always check 2*06 first if it's available because that determines in my opinion if I'll enjoy the rest. And I don't even started the proper reaction yet, but I'm laughing hard with the theory segment, so definitely I want to watch more of you guys 😂
15:08 This is one of the few times the sub makes a mistake. In Japanese, Bert said "What are you saying, Reiner?", as if to pretend it's nonsense. The sub mistranslated it, accidentally revealing that it was true. Annoyingly, although the dub avoids this mistake, it makes a different mistake in this scene by having Reiner say "Annie" instead of "The Female Titan" despite not yet knowing that Annie was discovered and captured three days prior.
I don't think anyone watched this episode without being absolutely mindblown. Even with people who suspected them or predicted it, the delivery of it throws everyone off completely without fail 😂
The entire speech Reiner gives here is incredible when considering the context of the later seasons. Like I love so much that looking at this when it came out, I was like "WTF Reiner and Bertholdt!", whereas now I'm like, "ya know what, damn bro no you got dealt a really bad hand, someone give this man a hug"
One of the first 200 to watch it. Been waiting, literally had my notifications on for this reaction lol but love you guys for real! One of my top 3 favorite YT channels!
One of my favourite things about rewatching AOT is seeing all of the little nuggets of foreshadowing towards Bertholdt and Reiner being the Colossal and Armored Titan. They seem so inconsequential on first watch, but once you know to look for them it's crazy how many little hints and signs there are pointing to them.
Here's some other foreshadowing of this revelation: - Season 1 Episode 3: When Eren is talking about the Armored Titan to the other cadets, the camera suddenly changes towards Reiner. - Season 1 Episode 5: Right before Eren and Jean start arguing, you can see Berthold in background looking all worried and tired (probably due to his transformation). - Season 2 episode 4: Despite Ymir knowing that mysterious language written in the canned food, both her and Reiner were no strange to seafood, which is odd, considering that the people inside the walls have never seem the sea. - Season 2 episode 5: When Ymir jumps at the tower to save her friends, you can see that Berthold was about to bite his hand. - Season 2 episode 6: No one, besides Eren, helps Reiner and Berthold to climb the wall, which shows that Eren was still in denial with the whole situation. There's a lot more, but I can't remember right now. Still this is a testament of how the devil is in the details in Isayama's writing.
ATTENTION NEEDED !!! If you go on the previous episode, you can see Bertholdt about to transform ( bite his hand ) when Ymir is crashing the tower and they're about to fall. It's Christa, Reiner and Bertholdt on the screentime.
Here is a small detail most people miss but its subtle and I think you guys would enjoy. Remember back to the previous episode I think when Bertholdt and the gang were being over run by titans and Ymir was climbing the tower. If you look at Bertholdt you can see hes about to bite his hand to transform.
"The hometown that we lost" - Reiner Reiner has a split personality disorder, he was in his 2nd persona - who actually believed he was born & raised within the wall, which was destroyed by titans 5 years ago; but was actually him. Those were Eren's memories of Reiner & how clueless & deceived he mustve felt.
Annie : Literally *crystallized herself* to keep the secret
Reiner : _Hey Eren... Funny story ! Guess what ?_

That's casually translated part for a crucial moment.
I'll never forget the day i was watching this ep and was so lost, i thought they were joking☠️
Hange: Show no suspicion so that we can lure Reiner and Bretholdt into a trap!
Reiner: “I’m gonna do what called a Pro Gamer Move.”
If you go back to the episode where Ymir transforms, you can see Bert in the background with his hand near his mouth preparing to Titan up!
This is the beginning of the “my head hurts” episodes lol
ishiyama sensei may not be best manga artist when it cames to drawing but he is one of the best storyteller in the manga industry , , i mean look at how shock this couple was 👍
Agree, and my man is getting better at drawing too
You know it's kind of been my peeve when the translation wrongly wrote "Why are you telling him, reiner?", He actually said, "What are you saying? Reiner?"
Lmaoooo this is literally what you call "Top 10 anime betrayals" XD
episodes are about to get real and even more surprises in store for you guys from here onwards, keep watching Lmao!💥
I really love to watch people reacting to this episode
Can you imagine that this is only the early begging 😂 like, I’m serious 😂
Until this day, after sooo many years, even knowing all that i know now, im never going to get over this betrayal!
The shock, the pain, as Eren cried falling down i was crying with him!
Even reading this part in the manga when Reiner says that he is armored titan and Bertolt is the colossal titan was also certainly something that was difficult to comprehend too
Haha “Eren, got a min?…so I’m the Armored titan and he’s the Colossal titan”…
Ron & Michelle: 🤯🤯 “whaaaaaatt”???
😂😂 I was waiting for this! 😁
hahaha
Reiner had removed his Hood when they went to attack Annie so that she could see it was him and not potentially kill him. The CLUEs man. Geez the writing goes hard.
26:52 no, what they mean by "ivebeen here for too long and surrounded by idiots" and telling to himself "half-ass pieace of crap"
means Reiner and Bertholdt have been in the walls for too long.
This was the beginning of the end, the episode that made the anime just go from crazy to crazier, you guys above officially started the episode that sends off the rest of the anime
dude that panel where Reiner is holding Eren and the song plays is so powerfull
So funny hearing all your questions and you attempt to put the pieces together. Takes me back to experiencing this for the first time, this anime storytelling is top tier you'll get your answers 😂
There's a scene in season 1 where during the training arc, they talk about the titans that showed up at shiganshina. When you watch that the first time, you don't notice it, but after this episode, it's clear that it was done on purpose: the "camera" switched to Reiner and Berthold right at that moment.
lmao I legit thought that it was a mistranslation when I first watched that REVEAL. I was tripping out and had to replay it 3 times HAHAHA
12:33 when it takes 3-5 business days to complete your transaction🤣
Man I tell y'all, it's brutal watching these predictions and theories 😂😂😂. I'm here for it just to see how y'all gonna feel once you find out the actual. But really I'm half curious to see if y'all can actually figure it out, I doubt it though. The reality is so intricate and weaved through these seasons, I don't think anyone connected all the dots before the reveal. You two are entertaining though, for sure 🤣
I’ve been waiting so long for this episode 😭
Grrrl... the way you ducked like Mikasa
was attacking *you* had me 🤣 23:08
If you watch the last couple episodes, they are FILLED with foreshadowings of this scene.
this episode remains monumental. after years still, the music goes underneath and binds the revelation of this episode. This series... is one of the best.
Im really impressed that these reactors still manage to give reaction and talking while watching this part. i was dead silent
Love gingers theories really thinking outside of the box, will come in useful for the later seasons
I cannot get enough of people reacting to this moment lmao
WELCOME TO THE MOST ICONIC EPISODE I CAN THINK OF
Oh I love your theories and your questions!!!!! Just keep watching!!!! I can't wait!
This is it. This is where everything starts to change
In Episode 5 of Season 2 if you look closely when they are on top of the tower before Ymir jumps off you can see that Berthold was doing a pose where he was about to bite his hand to turn.
Ron's theories are just craayayayazzyy hehehe I think I've heard dem all but he surprises me everything.
What are your other two?
One of my favourite things about rewatching AOT is seeing all of the little nuggets of foreshadowing towards Bertholdt and Reiner being the Colossal and Armored Titan. They seem so inconsequential on first watch, but once you know to look for them it's crazy how many little hints and signs there are pointing to them.
*The Ultimate Betrayal*
12:43 The title says it all. I remember reading the manga first time and went: "Huh?"
It's funny the the 3 main titans (other than Eren) that we knew of so far all hung around eachother since the show began.
Clicked this SO FAST, reaction was perfect I love how into it y’all are !!!!
Geez, always Gets me the tears on berthold's eyes before he transforma😭, love your réaction 👍
TY!!
It's the "why the colossal is so big?" for me haha
i love how clueless they are in the post discusion xD i feel that everyone can relate to them :P
Here's some other foreshadowing of this revelation:
- Season 1 Episode 3: When Eren is talking about the Armored Titan to the other cadets, the camera suddenly changes towards Reiner.
I just love listening to all of your theories!
Reiner is literally one of If not the best written character in the show 🤷♂️
ATTENTION NEEDED !!!
If you go on the previous episode, you can see Bertholdt about to transform ( bite his hand ) when Ymir is crashing the tower and they're about to fall. It's Christa, Reiner and Bertholdt on the screentime.
Fun fact: if you rewatch the tower collapse last episode, you can see bertholdt almost biting his hand (fearing to be dead soon) to transform
Ahhhhhh, ive been waiting for this jajaja, let me get my drink, and lets go.
Here is a small detail most people miss but its subtle and I think you guys would enjoy. Remember back to the previous episode I think when Bertholdt and the gang were being over run by titans and Ymir was climbing the tower. If you look at Bertholdt you can see hes about to bite his hand to transform.
"The hometown that we lost" - Reiner
Reiner has a split personality disorder, he was in his 2nd persona - who actually believed he was born & raised within the wall, which was destroyed by titans 5 years ago; but was actually him.
Those were Eren's memories of Reiner & how clueless & deceived he mustve felt.
Those WILD Theories 🤣 Love it guys. Keep it up both of you!
