    7:18 this is a really beautiful interpretation of the lyrics, the line goes _Because they’re such common words I was worried they wouldn’t sound sincere; I was looking for something better than ‘thank you’ that I couldn’t even tell you ‘thank you’_
    in the choreo, Hoshi and Jun are in the centers of the formation and the members are in a kind of flower-like formation. their hands represent the “words” and when Hoshi & Jun try to pick them, they fall away from them and in the end they aren’t able to pick any of them. i really really love this part a lot bc of how beautifully they symbolize the lyrics;;;;

      @@ElliottNewVillage There's something else that you should know, at 4:41, there's a reason why the members stood up like such formation, everytime they did that they made a T H X letter if u see it from above (aerial view) so not only they include sign language but a message through their choreo as well. One of their choreographer revealed this in twitter because nobody had noticed for like months😅
      Here's a link to see what i mean

  • @lapillity

    I'm so glad you did your research and were able to talk about the sign language and even the THX which a lot of people don't know about! I enjoyed your commentary as always ^^ I'd also like to point out that despite being a music group I know of/have heard of at least two or three deaf carats who are fans of seventeen for their choreography and of course their personalities as well. to me that makes the use of sign language even more meaningful because they aren't forgetting about the fans who can't hear their thanks through the music.
    even though I wouldn't say this is my favorite seventeen song, it's definitely the most meaningful to me. I can feel how genuine they are whenever I listen to the song or see the choreography and I feel like I'm being personally spoken to. I really think they achieved exactly what they wanted to with this song

    SVT had had Choreo in the past where one starts where another one left off. Pretty U ends where Aju Nice begins. DWC ends where Without You begins and Without You ends where Clap begins.
    But with Thanks they started and end the same-with a promise. Seeing that it’s also a song dedicated to their fans, it just means so much more. Kinda like saying, “we started together, we end together, in a loop of promise and trust that is unbreakable”. Just my interpretation and thoughts. 😅

    seventeen is the first kpop group i ever got into back in 2015 with their debut, around this era is when i started to fizzle out and become more of a casual fan of kpop but this song always makes me feel something. i'm so thankful for seventeen, all i remember about 2015 is it being one of the happiest years of my life. it makes my heart warm seeing other people love and appreciate them as much as i did (and still do, just quietly) i love this, and i love them

  • @svtislife9670

    THANKS is my all time favorite song of seventeen. Not just bcos it is an amazing song but the meaning is really hitting me hard every single time Im hearing it esp when im watching the video. Its like a song that represents how we, Carats, mean so much to our boys and also vice-versa. I am more than thankful to them for making us feel like we are someone that's very very important. They always think of us first whenever, wherever. Its not just and idol-fan relationship. It is more than that. Both seventeen members and carats have a special place in the hearts of one another.
    Indeed our internal home.
    Anyways, thank you for this reaction! I really really love how you analyze seventeen dance choreos and how you love it. Hope to see more seventeen reactions on your channel!

    Another great analysis, Elliot! Thank you!
    Thanks is a song that I love so much both choreo and music wise. And throughout 2018 where Thanks was released, although it was released earlier that year, they never stopped improving it. Throughout 2018, SVT had made many adjustments to their Thanks stage performances. If you have the chance, do take a look at their Thanks awards performances. You will see that they added an extended dance break during the 2nd chorus. And for one performance, Dino actually got a solo dance (KBS song festival performances (?)) And for their 2018 AAA performance, they performed Thanks like a ballad first before getting into the dance performance plus you got those amazing aerial shots too! Thanks is a performance where it just looks different every time or you noticed something different every time. And I feel likes it’s a performance where not only does it utilize their 13 members well, they also create a choreo where it’s just so full of grace and power all in one!

  • @sunmoonstars4875
    @sunmoonstars4875 5 лет назад +1

    this is hands down my favorite seventeen choreo. i locked onto seventeen HARD bc their style and skills in dance are pretty much unmatched, and this era of thanks was the time when i first found seventeen. i'm so beyond grateful you pointed out certain decisions in this choreo like the use of "thank you" and "promise" in KSL in the dance; hoshi likes to use KSL to inspire moves in their dances quite a bit, like including the KSL for "pretty" in pretty u, which i find absolutely genius and also sweet for any hearing impaired fans.
    the one thing you missed - which i don't blame you for, it's kind of deep into seventeen knowledge - is another reference within the "promise" inspired gestures. the other significance of hooking their pinkies is that every member of seventeen has matching pinky rings that are essentially a promise to each other that they will stay together as the proud members of seventeen. they never take them off, and have even said "if i remove it, that would mean i'm not a member of seventeen anymore." they were awarded the rings when they were about to debut in a very emotional ceremony with their families, and every year since they get new rings.
    so not only are the opening/closing pose of the hooked pinkies as well as the moves at 6:16 / 9:11 / 9:37 a promise to the audience and fans, but to each other as well.

    I am not an expert at the dance or choreography but the first time I saw it, I felt their desperation through the movement, the desperation to utter the word thank you sincerely genuinely yet they still feel it lacks, doesn't represent enough what they wanna convey. I felt it through the movements and the repetition of "thanks, thanks, again thanks" in their lyric.
    I cried the first time I heard it.

    This is like,,,, my ULTIMATE fav Seventeen song...and choreo, in terms of sentimental value. The message of the song as connected to the choreo in delivering their heartfelt message. This is the best Seventeen type of language that when understood by new fans, would make them NOT want to get out of the rabbithole. This is my first comeback as a Carat. There was no turning back. Thank you E 💕

    This song made me cry with the first listen without lyrics, then I cried listening to it with the lyrics, but the most impressive thing is that before that, I watched the dance practice, so I watched the dance but I didn't know what they were talking about... And I cried. Just from the beautiful way they portrayed the lyrics, that made me so emotional and teary eyed, and it is the first time ever that I cry just by watching someone dancing to a song that I don't even know the meaning of. This performance and song are so powerful and emotional, and I'm so grateful to them for creating something so beautiful for their fans. And this comes from a new carat, that loves them already too much. Sorry for the long comment, to whoever that reads this till the end, thanks ❤

    Your analysis is so legit and professional! There are other youtubers who make "dancer reacts to" but they don't really talk about the subtle and hidden stuff that should be appreciated, like the levels or the roll off for example. They only point out the obvious parts that everyone can see but not the one that you see. You're fire just by commenting man 🙏🏻

    I wish more reactors gave a shoutout personally to Hoshi and the Performance Team for their AMAZING choreograpahy! Hoshi's mind is so creative and i looooove his dance style but he's never pointed out by any reactors that i've watched. :(
