A 13 yr old car that still looks modern and classy. Amazing design. Thank you Italy
Taking a look at the ol bank account, I can confirm that now is in fact, NOT the time to buy my dream Ferarri..😢
Learn commercial paper and you’ll have your own soon
You’re using credit not cash 😊
@@lamarwilson6840What is commercial paper?
Just take a 104 month loan when financing
F8 and 458 are the ones to hold on to.
Proud owner of one and I couldn’t love it more. 2014 Spyder White/Tan Red custom.
how tho
458 Speciale still my dream Ferrari. It has aged so beautifully. One day, promise to myself.
Hey I love how you are breaking this down.
You need the CF steering wheel with the shift lights. Must-have option for resale IMO.
I don’t have the led on the wheel but can have it swapped for 7k. Not really internet in it. The massive yellow tach does the job well. But I agree a highly optioned 458 will command premiums on sales. Though I own mine outright and get offers for more then what I paid. Keeping it with me forever. Next buy will be a 165 330 GTC series 2.
Great info, thanks!
Thanks PJ for always being honest and helpful. Nobody tells it like you do.
Can u please do a huracan Byers guide because it’s the entry supercar for a lot of us
Car is trash.
I just bought one today! 182,000 - 28k miles, carbon, sensors, no camera.
PJ great video, thanks. Within those year/price ranges you provided, can you provide some mileage recommended ranges as well? I understand with Ferrari resale, buyers are very particular about mileage ranges. I’m currently selling my 2011 amg SLS and planning to replace it (depending on the deal I find)either with a 458 or f12 …the v12 is too mesmerizing, but then again so is the rear mid engine 🤷🏻♂️ a f12 video would be great too!! Thanks
Thanks! I love this car👌
Great video and excellent points! When I was searching for my 458 Italia I had very specific criteria and a lot of it aligns with what you say here. I would not consider anything older than a 2012, in addition to the transmission issues of the 2010 and 2011, in 2012 Ferrari started their 7 year maintenance program, which helps ensure for at least the first 7 years of the cars life that it was properly maintained. Since I plan to keep this car long term, it was also important for me to get it from a Ferrari dealer and have it CPO'd, now this typically goes against "car hacking" as buying from a dealer comes with a premium, but for me in this case it made since. I was able to find an incredible 1 owner 2012 458 in giallo with race seats and a front lift late last year at Ferrari San Fransisco and I couldn't be happier with the car so far. Mine is missing the rear camera, and I am thinking about having the dealer install it. Mine is also missing the carbon wheel with the shift light and I've thought about adding it, but it would be $11k through the dealer to get it done and it would be the only carbon on the interior, so I am leaning towards not swapping the wheel out.
My high end storage garage can replace it for 7k. I don’t care. Most likely would annoy me. Lol
PJ I just wanted to thank you. I purchased my dream car. A Maserati GranTurismo that was 4k less than it's value. I followed your advice and found my car at the right price and low miles. Thanks!
Congrats! What color?
It's a weird grey color. Lol
Hey Pj great video and I love these versions of your videos. Break downs are excellent I’m 6’6 250 and wondering if you think I can fit comfortable in that 458?
Not all 6'6 are equal, but you might be OK. Go to Ferrari in Sterling & sit in one. Worst case get a spider
Thank you for your response. Appreciate you and the content you provide on your channel.
Yes!!!! Finally!!!
Yes pj bro you never cease to make me laugh the height comment 😂
Anyway the 458 was a jaw dropping car when it came out. Similar to when the Lamborghini huracan came out. It was and still is a feat of engineering that has this wow factor every time you see one on the road.
Ferrari has made some very special cars the f40 f50 la Ferrari etc etc. but when the 458 came out in Frankfurt in 2009 to replace the f430 it was mind blowing
because I knew from there Ferrari would keep making a line up of interesting cars. Then the 488 came out and proved again another masterpiece.
I’m a lambo fan all the way knowing full well the story of Enzo and ferruccio however from between the f430 -458 onward I’ve been a die hard fan of both brands.
cool.. thanks for the analysis.. great job.. btw, where did u get the electronic "whiteboard" pretty cool.. what's the brand ◡̈
They didn't move the electronics outside the transmissions. Ferrari never admitted to a problem or that a change was made. But, it's believed Getrag/Ferrari corrected some problems inside the transmission that was causing the issue because there seem to be less failures from 2012 on. Originally Ferrari just replaced transmissions at around $35K each (either under warranty or owner paid if out of warranty). Ferrari eventually trained techs to open the transmission and replace the electronics which dropped the repair price to $5K - $10K. Again, we have no published docs from Ferrari or Getrag admitting to a problem or that anything was changed, but given what it was costing them to replace transmissions it's highly likely they made some tweaks to correct a very simple problem (believed to be related to how the wiring was run inside the transmission.)
That's what I love about older exotics.... you still turn heads, unlike a 2012 Honda lol
I mean one is an exotic and the other is a run of the mill
Currently looking for a spider timing couldn’t be perfect you I have a rare novitech 2007 f430 30k miles paid off should I trade it or just save to buy the 458 spider please advise
Drove one on a racetrack irl and it was horrible because it had tendency to over/understeer all the time, and is not meant to be abused on a racetrack, as it’s suspension is too plushy and soft. The F430 and 599 drove so much better imo. Drove all 3 of these cars at Atlanta Motorsports Park.

Great Eye for Art I love the HQ - Question Whats the name of the software running on the Smartboard ? - I work in IT and I have a client who is look for something similar 😊 Love the Humor
In Europe, prices are 30-40k more then you said it this video, for good examples, low mileage 2012-2013 MY. I was in market for one but now is not good time to buy it. In stead, I decided to buy 488 because prices are the same for car that is 5 years newer and, better car in every way. People are obsessed with N/A V8 engine but in truth V8 turbo from 488 is better and smoother. 488 has much better cooling solutions then 458 and to me, even looks better so, 488 all the way.
I own a yellow 2010 458. I paid 155k and put 2k on it. I’m going to drive it for another 50k! Not highly optioned, some carbon fiber, but upgrades to and back up camera. I’ve been offered recently 170k lol nope. I own it outright and it’s in great condition. A real eye turner. Drives insane and sounds like a beast with the exhaust on. I leave it open all the time. Not in it for investment but pure driving fun and networking. Great videos!! 💪🏻💪🏻💯
At how many mile should we be aiming for the 2012/13 ?
Can someone comment on the save max/ideal max milage of a 458 ? Usually at what time start occuring the issues/leaks,...
I bought my spider for 250 and spent around 20 to make it perfect, car is awesome now, full carbon fiber interior, 16k miles when I bought, I was thinking on trading for a f12 but I love the 458 so much it look alot better in my opinion s I guess I will keep it
is these usd numbers?
oh you have good review man
Dear PJ, you forgot the most important option: the LED carbon fibre steering wheel.
Yessss. I have that on mine.
I see small up in some collector cars
