would have included nfs high stakes instead of porsche. nfs porsche on psx is basically a reskin of v rally 2 which i would hardly call a sim. High stakes on psx actually a great simcade handlinh and the engine of high stakes was the base of the pc version of nfs porsche which is widely considered as the nfs with the most realistic handling
I actually ended up playing a lot of it when making this video! I was so intrigued to find out if there was a good game there. Unfortunately it's pretty average.
I was surprised to find out it's actually a pretty good game! I know not everyone likes Nascar racing, but I tried to include all types of racing in this list.

The PS1 had some really underrated racing games! I spent so much time playing the Moto Racer and V-Rally series when they were released.
Honorable mention: Sports Car GT.
