I LOVED NFS Hot Pursuit 2 AND Burnout 3 Takedown BOTH near and DEAR to my heart why? Let’s go down the list starting off with NFS Hot Pursuit 2:
1. Awesome Cars
2. GREAT Racetracks
3. You can DEFINITELY see ahead of your racing time just in case if there’s a 👮♂️ Spike Strips or something else.
And THEN there’s Burnout 3 Takedown:
1. You can takeout other cars
2. The soundtrack to the game is FREAKING AMAZING
3. And the Racetracks are FREAKING INSANE
I have Road Trip Adventure and it was a great sandbox racing game to play as I wasn't allowed to play GTA until I was 15 in 2004 by which time I played San Andreas.
It was the Sandbox features that had me play this game and I loved the PS2 era for the many titles that followed the formula.
I loved the Burnout series as well because you could gain speed by performing dangerous tasks like oncoming traffic and near misses rather than just relying on getting the best cars. The later games added crash mode which was fun and Paradise City was a great way for the series to go out with a bang.

I loved Crash Tag Team Racing from my Childhood Years as one of THE Best PS2 Racing Games There Is
The only two that I played a lot and are on this list are Gran Turismo 4 and NFS Hot Pursuit 2. Both of which are just two of my all time favorite racing games.
Midnight club 3 will always hold a special place in my heart

Need For Speed and Burnout had always been my favorite racing game series.
Especially on the PS2,
That was The Golden Age for Need For Speed.

There's so many good games to choose from, it's hard to pick my number 1. But I think we can all agree that Burnout, Need For Speed Underground and Gran Turismo are definitely some of the best.
In my opinion, Gran Turismo 4 deserve to be number 1.
700+ cars, around 100 tracks, great graphics, the amount of content, no DLC, no lootboxes, no microtransactions and everything I mentioned is in one disc! Very impressive for 2004-2005 game.
I appreciate the content but I find the game a little flat to play. It's clearly great but not my favourite.
Nah I don’t like it till Forza Motorsport and Horizon came out those are better racing games

i tried out gran turismo, and i found it unplayable due to the controls, which are awful. you barely turn and you're going into a wall or the car turns completely the wrong way

Burnout 3: Takedown & Burnout Revenge were when the series was at its finest.
I'd say the same thing, but the ironic part is, I had played these Burnout titles on Xbox 360.😊

Haven’t played NFS Hot pursuit 2 in almost 20 years, but the soundtrack has always been a part of my playlist and some of the memories of playing it have lived rent free in my head since, absolutely love it

@@tropixx_xlr1549Yea. I remember being very disappointed when I played the underground games after Hot Persuit 2. I eventually enjoyed those games alot, and then especially most wanted but those games felt very different to Hot Pursuit 2. Hot Pursuit 2 was arcade but not in a ridiculous way, it was grounded but with arcade elements and awesome tracks with beautiful scenery. That was lost when the series went into open world where each track felt the same.
These days it's either pure simulator or pure arcade racer, the only close game we have nowadays is the forza Horizon series but I only tried one of those games it didn't enjoy it.
For me, Mx vs Atv untamed blew my mind the first time I played it. The maps were huge, beautiful and the random npcs made the maps feel alive.
Mx vs atv unleashed was better though in every way
I love Gran Turismo 4 and Hot Pursuit 2/Underground 2/Most Wanted were other-worldly…. But the Best racing game of the PS2 era will forever and always be Burnout 3 Takedown
Burnout 3 Takedown and NFS Hot Pursuit 2 (the PS2 version) are my favorite arcade racing games of all time. Just sublime.

Hot Pursuit 2 PS2 version is my all time favorite ❤️ that main menu,narrator talks about each car with charismatic voice, music, especially “Ordinary” , “Build your Cages “.. damn, so many wonderful memories…

Auto Modelista was a great anime style racing game super underrated
Its cel shaded.
The handling is straight up garbage unless you get the pal or japan version. US version feels like you're constantly driving on ice.
I still have Splashdown Rides gone wild, and still play it now and again! That’s fun!
I loved "Rumble Racing" on ps2 that game was fun! Was hoping it made it on here but nope!

Hot Pursuit 2 is like an old leather jacket, it brings back good memories, it has aged well and can still be enjoyed today

I poured hours into these games, which were my favorite.

My most favorite racing game on the PS2 is definitely burnout revenge, from the revenge takedowns to signature takedowns to explosive paybacks is beyond thrilling. I enjoyed every single time playing the game, too bad I never played Gran Turismo on PS2, including NFS underground 1 and 2. I also remember Playing NFS hot pursuit 2 and it was incredible, I had such good memories with that game, but let's not forget that the fast and furious Tokyo drift game was also a good racing game on PS2, I had a lot of fun playing it. But never finished the game

Im not good with realistic racing games because I like More not realistic racing games like Mario Kart or Ctr But My favourite ps2 racing game IS ps2 Burn out 3 because it's a good racing game and its very nostalgic For me. PS that Jak X combat racing Looks really awesome and fun racing game. 🔥

Racing games were a big part of my upbringing, so any chance I get to talk about them here, I do my best to go all out and highlight some of the best in the genre. Like with any other game, it just takes practice and patience. Kart racers are an excellent start, but if that's where you're most comfortable in, so be it. Kart racers are a ton of fun as they are!

A shame the Colin Mcrae rally games CMR 3, CMR 04 and 2005 were not on the list, really good games, that were also very approachable, unlike the later Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally series games, which are pretty much hardcore sim fans territory only sadly.
Toca Raced Driver series were also great games, especially the 1:st and 3rd game, the 3rd game even had lawnmower track racing, that`s not very common in a racing game, neither then or now.
But GT4 was the best PS2 racing game, and it stil is a great game today, even the graphics look dated today sadly, almost 20 years later, but for the day it was awesome, it`s only real downside, like most Gran Turismo games, were the engine sounds, but it`s a widely known fact that GT has poor engine sounds sadly.
Gran Turismo 4 is THE best PlayStation 2 game ever. The best variety of cars, tracks, events, and music. It's the pinnacle of the Gran Turismo franchise.
Burnout 3 was one of the best games on ps2 period. That game is a 10/10. Would love it to get remade. I’d take it just getting put into PlayStation premium

Some of my funniest childhood memories consisted of driving out into the wilderness in ATV Off Roa Fury 2 until you hit an invisible wall that sent you flying in the opposite direction at a million miles an hour
In my book Burnout 3 is the greatest arcade racer of all time, still play it to this day. The action, the speed, the variety, the online experience, and the best racing soundtrack ever assembled. 1000/10

Enthusia, Dirt to Daytona, TOCA Race Driver 3, Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero and Drift 1 and 2. NFS Underground. F1 Career Challenge. Nascar Thunder 2004 and 05. There are some really fun sprint car games none of which I'm good at. A lot of great Racing on Playstation 2 pretty much my favorite console ever.
Need fur speed hot pursuit 2 was definitely my main go to back in 2000s
While Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 was and still fun to play, I particularly enjoyed playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

I'm surprised that none of the Need For Speed Underground games were on this list. They were great games too. But Hot Pursuit 2 was on here so that's good, and that game was awesome. I played the game on the original Xbox but the PS2 version was so much better. And the HUD looked better there. I would also agree that Gran Turismo 4 is one of their best and same with Burnout 3. I did play the first and second but Burnout 3 was back when EA was in their prime. EA was grEAt in that generation. The other games were published by a company that no longer exists. Acclaim Entertainment

My top 5 racing games on PS2 that weren't ports of games that were on Dreamcast first (quite a few of my PS2 faves were Dreamcast ports):
1) OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast (probably slightly better on XBox but PS2 is the version I have)
2) Midnight Club Racing 3: Dub Edition Remix
3) Test Drive Unlimited (missing Ferrari but it has some features like Clubs not in the XBox 360 version, at least not in single-player mode).
4) Probably Gran Turismo 4, if I'm being honest
5) Enthusia (better handling than GT4 and had potential to be a worthwhile GT competitor series if it hadn't flopped)

You should mentioned Midnight Club II. I played the hell out of it because it has simple game mechanics but easy to master. It's one of my favorite games for the ps2 era it sucks Rockstar doesn't even care about the series rather they focus milking gta v. I personally loved it be great if Rockstar would remake or remaster it but I doubt Rockstar cares about it. They're too busy milking gta v

First half of this list sure is weird... I'm not going to put it down because I've not played some of these games and I get it that when you're going for a 1 game per franchise (leaving out GT3, NFS Underground 2 and NFS Most Wanted, Burnout Revenge and other Midnight Club games...) you're probably going to land on some divisive titles - but still...
First off, I think it's missing rally games and there were a bunch of really good ones for the PS2 (Collin McRae, WRC series...). Probably because it's a north american based list? It's also missing F1 games (2005 and 2006 were both really good). It's also weird not having a single bike game... MX Unleashed, Tourist Trophy, MotoGP 4... oddly, being north american based, it completely skipped the NASCAR games. And then some really good racing games like Downhill Domination, OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast and WipeOut Fusion!!
Considering all these, Jak X, Juiced, Lego Racers 2 and Road Trip Adventure feel like very weird choices.
Gadget racers should be in the place of road trip adventure because it had the best gameplay and vehicle handling of all of choro q series, so damn good.
Burnout 3, Gran Turismo 3 and 4, and nfs hot pursuit 2 are the best racing games on ps2, you guys owe it to yourselves to add those to your collection! My favorite is stil hot pursuit 2, so phenomenal and in-depth.

Best Sim racing game was definitely Gran Turismo 4. Best arcade racing game was definitely Need for speed 2: Hot Pursuit. I spent a lot more time playing Gran Turismo 4 as that is one of my favorite video games of all time.
Only games I've played on this list are hot pursuit 2, gt4 and midnight club 3 but I would definitely put midnight club 2 above all the games on this list. People don't realize MC 2 is the superior racing game. The adrenaline you get from that game is unmatched.
