Watching Henry live in the prem was like watching an adult play against a group of school boys in the playground. Thierry was too good for his time, I'd love to see him play in today's prem.

It's not that long ago Henry had his hey day, and football hasn't really evolved since then. At least not individually which is what we're basically discussing here. Can you think of a striker today that is better than Henry in any department? I can't. As a Norwegian that shuld be biased towards Haaland, I can easily say that Henry was miles upon miles ahead of Haaland who is currently the best striker in the PL imo. Henry had it all, he was a complete player.

Thierry still has the record for 4 golden boots in the premier league but another stat is one of those years he scored 24 goals but 20 assists as a striker, not just a goal machine but a provider....It's why as a Arsenal fan i cringe at younger fans thinking Ozil breaking Thierry's record of assists was a achievement...Ozil failed this with Giroud up top missing so many chances.
I remember he had like 16 assists by December….. then had like 2 for the rest of the season…

I'm a 35 year old die hard United fan and I've no shame in admitting how borderline obsessed I was with Thierry in his pomp.. The socks, the strut, the celebration, the wristband, the colour coded Vapors, even his kicking technique - copied the lot. When Sky introduced PlayerCam, I'd record his 15 mins on the old VHS and then study it as if I had an exam my life depended on!! I had first dibs on shirt numbers for pretty much every team I've played for and by 2003, I gave up wearing 10 for 14, haven't changed since. For me, the best player I've ever seen play in England, not even close.

Literally we are the same person. I loved Beckham & Cantona, but as a young black kid, seeing Henry, Cole, Yorke and R9 literally made me want to be a footballer. Henry being the 1 I was most fascinated with. Honestly, if I had discovered him 1st, I may have been an Arsenal fan 🤢🤢😉

With the way teams set up and defend and press today and Henry was in his prime, he would score more goals than the likes of Haaland. He was an unplayable striker that had to do a lot more to score. Intelligence, movement, speed and that killer instinct. That's my opinion and it is only an opinion.

I think Henry is far far better player then haaland and I don't think haaland will never ever come close to Henry in football ablty but haaland will score more goals than Henry if they played in the same league just because haaland leaves for just only goals the guy touches 20 ball par game that is even less than a goalkeeper. Henry is a complete player because of that he will score less but will have more G+A in a season.

Best ever foreign player that has played in England. Ronaldo and Suarez etc didnt come close to his effortless brilliance and Henry had a level of class that they didnt possess (while they were in England anyway).

Henry raised the bar in the Premier league. He was unreal
What made Henry special was the combination of many things. From a technical pov probably only Bergkamp was ahead of him in the PL, from a goalscoring pov he was dangerous from anywhere, he could pick the ball up from his own half, beat 4 players and score, he could score worldies from well outside the box, he scored free kicks, when teams played deep he could find space anywhere and score, he played off the shoulder and was always looking for that through ball from Dennis or Pires, he made scoring with his instep from that acute left angle "the Henry goal". In the MLS he was even scoring the odd corner!
From a physical pov he was a powerhouse, not quite on the level of guys like Drogba and Adriano in terms of strength but he wasn't far off, very underrated how strong Henry was, he is a big guy at 6ft 2. Then there was the speed of him. In his peak years (around early 00's) he was recorded by SkySports in the halftime show running at 39.2km/h - that's a faster top speed than anyone has recorded in the PL since they started officially recording top speeds, that's faster than Mbappe, Traore, Walker, A Davies to name a few. I never once saw Henry beaten for pace when he was at full gallop - it was effortless, he glided.
Then there was his intelligence, such an intelligent player always aware of where his teammates were and where the opposition was.
His teamwork and passing, this is a guy that still holds the record of PL assists which is astounding when you consider some of the top playmakers we have seen in the PL. He had a wonderful weight of pass, so often picking out runs of players like Pires and Freddie who would often run off him when he dropped deeper to pick the ball up. His vision on the ball was 2nd only to Dennis in the Arsenal team (who for me was the best final third passer Ive seen in the PL).
Finally his character, he had that right level of arrogance but with humility (something I often see missing from some of the modern players like Mbappe). He wanted to be the best, to be flamboyant, but he also adopted the old skool values of those great Arsenal players of the generation before - guys like Tony Adams, Keown,Dixon, Seaman, Bergkamp who taught him what it meant to be an Arsenal player.
Its that combination of factors and playing in that unbelievable Arsenal team as to why he was so special.

The aura of the man is unreal. Made Ben nervous but you can tell how all professionals on different shows treat him. On CBS you can tell Jamie Carragher and Micah look up to him. The fact he never won the Ballon D’or was maybe because Arsenal didn’t win a champions league. But Michael Owen and Pável Nedved winning one over him counter that reason. I’m sorry. This guy was the best player in the world for 3-4 years. Unreal legend of the game.
FIFA should be ashamed. Depriving Henry at his peak was cheating.
It’s why those awards should be taken with a grain of salt- they’re often more about a narrative than who’s actually the best at any given time.

Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are by far my favorite living football legends, they are the reason I fell in love with football in the first place, they are part of my childhood... Henry should have won at least one or two ballon d'or in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, he was so unique and underrated back then, he was almost unstoppable and genuinely a very good all-rounder authentic player. ☯️✌️
