Brad Friedel what a goalkeeper, was brilliant for every club he played for very underrated by the general population
the fact he was starting at 42 at a european PL side gets not enough attention
Yeah, deserves respect for that.
Very cool, but for this generation that was not uncommon. Van der Sar, Buffon.
@@naj_z what do you mean
@@naj_z Van der Sar wasn’t as old as that.
As opposed to an Asian or African PL team I assume ?
That opening monologue from Brad about your view opening up and enjoying what will soon be the end of a chapter speaks true for so many things in life, really well put
What a keeper Friedel was
There is a single guy at every concert in Columbus Ohio who wears an Aston Villa hat, gets shitfaced and yells that he’s brad’s cousin. I don’t even know if he is or not. Just feels like a good place to share.
😂😂😂
Greatest American goalkeeper (yes better than Tim Howard), so acceptable to boast about
In the 08/09 season he got a red card vs liverpool, meaning he would miss the next game thus ending the streak, however, the red card was reviewed by the FA and he was allowed to play in the next game.
I can’t believe somebody in RUclips comments, has actually made a comment that is relevant in. Anyway congratulations to you sir, or madam, whatever one you are
So it was overturned yo mean?
Fozzy saying he and his brother were Spurs fans and i remembered by heart the clip of a Fozcast when he said that the stadium that he was booed the most was White Hart Lane.
Paul Robinson scored against him at whl so his most embarrassing moment happened there
He winning cup with Birmingham City vs Arsenal was hilarious and most successful moment of his career as a Spurs fan. He was rock in that game.
Cause of all his time wasting antics against us, which was mainly down to Pulis etc not him
As a blackburn fan what a keeper this man was id have him back now
Bald american goalkeepers were so good in the PL, Keller,Friedel, Guzan, Howard.
Guzan was not that great 😅
@@Bobby_sprinkles agreed, but he played over 150 top tier matches, so he was kinda good
@@Bobby_sprinkles Ruddy was good to. Guzan was good after shay given retired
You forgot another bald one, Hahnemann! Reading, Fulham, and the Wolves! Crazy era for American keepers in the late 90s, early 2000s
@@declangaming24 John Ruddy is English
Kid these days will never know how good this guy was 🔥
Childhood great & I say that as a United fan - love these OGs that I grew up watching in the prem !
The PL has seen some great American keepers, Friedel, Howard, Keller.
Guzan
Would love a poddy with Jack Butland
‘Poddy’ jesus christ
@@pierer91 Poddo
@@pierer91great comment 🤣
Seeing Brad score a Premier league goal is something I remember like it was yesterday. Absolutely incredible keeper and a million times better than lloris in my opinion. I don't think lloris is bad, just think Brad was better!
What a goalkeeper!
You know when you interview someone you dont need to constantly say "yeah, yeah, yeah" over them as they speak.
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
LA KNIGHT YEAHH YEAHH
@@emanuelfer456wasn’t expecting to see la knights name on a Ben foster podcast but hey, let me talk to ya
Quality content
I'm here Ben!
Friedel never got the respect he deserved, great to listen to him
Brad friedal jusi jaskalenin shay given were sum keepers in the day weren't they
Arena was really lucky to have Friedel on 2002 World Cup.
I clicked for Phil Mitchell
This Levy imprint is what we continue to see today. AVB wanted Hulk, Willian and Moutinho. But the club gave him Dempsey, Dembele (baller) and Lloris. Levy also thought signing Gedson was just as good as signing Bruno Ferndez..we could have bought Hazard, Grealish, Tomiyasu and so many good players that different managers at Spurs asked for, but instead they were given knock off versions. No way is Vicario signing better than David Raya, glad that illusion has been cleared up! Levy has been good for developing the stadium and other supporting infrastructure but now the club needs a Perez-esque football oriented Chairman backed by a new ownership - to take Spurs to the next (trophy) level.
Hazard rejected spurs
So no you couldn’t of got hazard
Looked it up - Friedel 6 games, 0 clean sheets. Lloris 1 game, 1 clean sheet. The actual next game was Chelsea not Wigan. Brad conceded 4 goals that day.💀
£300k being a week's wages these days
As ambitious as Tottenham is a funny statement considering what Conte and Jose said about this club
Brad Freidel > Hugo Lloris every day of the week for me.
Oh yeah miles better.
What an awful take 🤣
Ha ... Fozzie is Spurs :)
Hugo Lloris is one of the most overated goalies in prem history
nah was solid for most of him time there ended at bit sour though
He was miles better than spurs for most of his time there
delusional easily one of the most underrated gks of all time only second to ddg in his prime at shot stopping shit with his feet tho
World champion, but you sure do go off bud.
Really?! I always thought hugo was terribly underrated. I guess your comment evidences that
It was actually infuriating as a Tottenham fan. He was always past it and Lloris was world class at the time … AVB inexplicably started the season with Friedel
No the inexplicable thing was dropping Friedel. Totally unfair & baffling. Freidel should have remained as number one until he retired.
@@r4h4al You’re unbelievably deluded and so obviously American
Just totally reinvented what actually happened there. Friedel was not in the form of his life then.
Pretty sure he shipped five against city at the start of that season, Dzeko probably had his best game in a city shirt against him.
@@SC-bc6tzthat was 11/12 wasn’t it? He played the full season that year.
True but it was still probably the wrong decision, Freidel still deserved to keep his place.
Friedel’s an asshole but a great goalkeeper
Dont blame AVB for being nervous, Friedel is a big guy.
Fozzy asking the questions under a Lloris shirt
His English is great! (For a foreign player)
He's American, English is his native language ffs.
@@johnmitchell2269Bit simple ain’t ya lol
@@johnmitchell2269joke flew right past you
@@johnmitchell2269 lmfao, what a moron
@@johnmitchell2269 jokes are difficult right?
For me, Friedel's the best American goalkeeper, and possibly American player, to play in the Premier League. Excellent professional!
Many USMNT fans regard Howard as the greatest keeper America has produced but for me it's Brad. Howard had the better US career, arguably, but Brad had the better overall career and his longevity and consistency is unmatched.
Friedel had a massive 2002 World Cup and kinda sorta retired from Int'l play afterward (Keller was the GK in 2006 and 1998).
To say Brad was in good form when he was dropped is a bit wild, we were throwing away some leads around that time, and there were a few moments in that time where a younger keeper could have saved us some points. Lloris had to come in and play, it was right to sign him.
Yes, doesn't really see the wider picture that he was the past and Lloris was the future
AVB played high defensive lines, his teams concede a lot of goals. I'd say that's more a reflection of your defenders, bare in mind AVB made Terry, Cahill, Ivanovich and Luiz look average due to his tactics.Coming from a Chelsea fan.
You're chatting shit and didn't even pay attention to the vid
@@ciarandavis1651He said he knew and accepted that, but he was still playing well and knew next season would be Lloris time
AVB messed up his amazing streak
No he didn’t. Bald tw*t Levy did.
Evgs
Brad rose the level when gomes went, but towards the end he was stiff as cardboard.
Was always a fan of Brad Friedel on the pitch and a true gentlemen off it. Great guest for the show
Shows how tinpot spurs are 😂
Friedel was next level. One of the best of all time seriously. I do wonder if Liverpool had stuck with him if he may have played at Anfield for 20 years
Cracking vid ❤
Its funny to hear this now, Lloris was never the best goalkeeper in the world, hes not even top 10.
Brad Guzan next!!
Loved Friedel but despite his good form he’s not mentioning how the fanbase were clamouring for Lloris to be in the first 11
Loved him at villa
Friedel was better than Lloris.
By miles.
Brad definitely has all the attributes to be a manager. He has a measured & thoughtful approach that players would respond to
It didn’t work out super well at New England, but he could definitely improve
@@614Amsterdam Sorry, but until the MLS drops the draft & adopts relegation/promotion, they can't be used in comparison. He seems smart enough to know that even Pep relies on the coaches around him.
@@interstellarbeatteller9306 MLS has its own forms of nuances and systems that do mean good managers still perform. Is it directly applicable to a relegation? Maybe not. But it’s ignorant to dismiss it entirely when that’s currently the best litmus test of his ability as a coach. Furthermore, the draft is hardly a factor in MLS teams anymore. The lack of relegation means it’s easier to build a strong squad with stability. The main constraint is the salary cap + too many games for thin squads. IE. Columbus crew is currently underperforming in the league because they’re in the champions league final and had to heavily rotate their squad to maintain that.
@@614Amsterdam It's ignorant to assume I was being dismissive of the league, when I consider the MLS as hard as any league to work in, because of those nuances. Top manages could struggle there
Brad Friedel the best American to play in the Prem
not clint?
or puli with UCL?
Agreed
