What I take away from that statement is that maybe threats should be taken seriously, even when coming from someone who isn’t dangerous. 🤷🏻♀️ idk. Either way, he is a fucking moron
At face value it seems like a blatant contradiction but a cornered animal will bite and bite hard. I'm actually amazed that there is still no copy available of the court documents on the internet since apparently any Norwegian with an ID can simply go take a look. I would be very interested to see if the documents actually corroborate Varg's claims that the police were aware of Euronymous' plans to kill him and whether or not the evidence supports the story of how the final conflict actually went down as Varg tells it. You can say anything you want about the guy but he never really came across as a liar to me. Official records would instantly make it clear if Varg is full of shit or not.
The reason he still speaks highly of Fenriz is because he was one of few who never snitched on anyone and Darkthrone was the only band from the original scene giving Varg any support right after the murder Even making Varg part of their first two albums realesed right after the murder by the use of his lyrics
@@crimsondeath7468 I think it was either Fenriz or Snorre that he punched in the throat in the movie, but I have seen it more recently. I can never quite figure out who he was supposed to be honestly.
Yeah and ten years ago they went more crust punk. I had an interview they did in a metal magazine and darkthrone just praised the Swedish hardcore band Puke most of the interview
That's pretty common these days but I would rather give my money to him than the psychopaths in politics on both sides of the isle. Unlike them he might actually need the extra money. He has a large family I hear.

Varg seems to have not understood sarcasm or don’t understand social Q’s
Most likely true. Dude drove 7 fking hours with full intentions to kill him and even got a “friend” involved without any consideration about him. To top it off i don’t understand how someone can spend time and break bread with someone and then just not care at all about killing him! To this day he is still very proud. I’ve felt like killing someone many times but to drive several hours and involve a friend in my own mess without any remorse or consideration..and to actually kill someone.. i couldn’t do it. Moments of heat and anger pass but not for this narcissist who still plays victim.
i think Varg keeps talking about Euronymous because truthfully it probably impacted him so much that he spends his time in denial about what he did to able to cope with life. The other reason is that he knows that's what people want to hear from him and that's a cash grab
Jim Mutilator, an ex-member of Rotting Christ from Greece, was a pen friend of Euronymous and Varg at the very early stages of the formation of black metal. He mentioned in a recent video that Varg was praising and admiring Euronymous a lot in his letters, and that they were best friends.
@@placebo150 It somehow makes sense that vikernes would say that, why?because he was a politics guy, exactly like euronymous. In politics, the proverb of "the only true friend of a man is his dog" does really apply. However, euronymous was a communist,an anarchist I could say,by the way he used to describe his own ideas on human race and how he really didn't like elites, nor any representatives of any countries, thinking he might lead an artistic underground rebel movement.a cultural shift maybe? Something that did really stand up to me,was how varg really ignored his communism and put aside aversion of their beliefs simply because well...they were making music? There stands a chance that maybe they knew from day one,but because they had similar purposes, liked to burn churches and make their "cultural shift" come true, these guys just simply ignored their ideologies.common enemy friend type of stuff. Or the other scenario is,both of them knew and were faking being friends, ending their mutual paranoia-abundant relation with one taking action to other. Keep in note how also euronymous showed no empathy or even tried to save the D*ead(funny how I have to censor the word),simply as a result of his indifference and joy of others' demise, probably for antinatalist and misanthropic reasons.
It'll be interesting to see in a few decades when everyone really tells what was going on. I'm guessing Varg simply needs all the money he can get to feed his large family, because it's hard to be self sufficient.
Are you talking about now, as in a few decades after the fact, or a few decades from now when most of these people are dead? The early black metalers are going into their 50s and 60s now fyi.
"wasnt it easier to buy a pick" probably not, even today, i have to wait two weeks for guitar picks to be shipped to me, because there is no music stores around where i live in norway, the package takes two days to go from germany to norway, but then the local post center takes two weeks to deliver the package 40 kilometer, so i believe it.
Euronymous was locked in an ego battle with a guy who was actually a real dangerous psycho. His mouth was writing checks that his ass couldn't cash. Big mistake.
That's what i've been always thinking. Euronymous liked to talk a lot and everyone was used to it yet Varg wasn't one of those people. Euronymous wasn't aware of how dangerous Varg actually is and what he is capable of. That is what i think tho.
This is how I've always understood it, and I think all the documentaries and interviews from those there at the time prove it too. Euronymous was likely all talk, and yet his narcissism was also his undoing; as it was pitted up against another's who was just as large but even more unhinged.
@deathadone88 What a weird thing to say. Why should I care about my bloodline? It's Irish and I'm Australian. I couldn't give a shit what my background is, or anyone else's for that matter. He did talk a bit of shit about Fenriz. He said that Fenriz was getting very drunk at the time and in Varg's other online content as well as the book, he has said that some people in that time and scene romanticize it because they were too fucked up to remember how awful it was. It is good that Varg keeps that to a whisper. Fenriz is adorable, smart, iconic, and still making amazing music(and awesome podcasts!) despite all the bullshit scene antics in the 90's and Varg having a platform.
He did talk some shit about getting drunk but did say something like "I hope he has recovered from such things." So I didn't take it as entirely without compassion.
yeah, someone who was right in the middle of the scene back then told me something similar, that it was really really fucked up what they were doing back then and none of them are proud of their antics, and some are still suffering to this day from the shit they've done to themselves.
@@Sinmara Fenriz seems to be doing great these days. He still drinks though probably less, has a wife, the iconic cat, makes his music, does his podcasts, grows his beard, and stays mostly at home. I think he turned out the best of all of those guys. Living life on his own terms without the rotten ones from back then taking up real estate in his mind, without the "punching in the dark" anger towards groups of strangers.
@@cryptomnesiac There are many things I hope Varg recovers from if you want to split hairs...mainly Euronymous taking up so much space in his head after so many years. Secondly, I hope he recovers his delusional recounting of past events. The description of the night in Oslo was on par with a screen writer pitching a "John Wick" scene. Thirdly, the whole supremacy of breeding and race stuff. He has a boatload of issues to unpack before he calls out a guy for being a drunken teenager!
I think it was also euronymous’s parents who helped him financially to obtain helvete. Baring in mind how young he still was and that he didn’t really have any others jobs prior to getting that store. Just a small detail that is overlooked but also very important to know that it wasn’t just because of what “mummy said” 😂
You have good insight into varg's mind, as far as accountability. Keep in mind the old saying, "that's my story & I'm sticking to it." His pride & ego prevents him from altering that story.
The more I know about Varg, the more I think that autistic edgelord portrayed in the infamous The Lords of Chaos movie was in fact really, really accurate.
Reading your comment is extremely bizarre for me because I had this VERY thought, almost word-for-word, in my own mind! “The more I learn about Varg, the more I start to believe that the way he is presented in ‘Lords of Chaos’ may be more accurate than people think!” The movie surely does exaggerate when it comes to Varg’s social awkwardness and physical clumsiness, but personality-wise, I don’t think that the portrayal is too off-base.
That is not autistic. It is fuctionally retarded. If you want a good portrayal of a ... actually, forget the portrayal part, just watch a good Frank Zappa documentary and you will see what autistic sounds like in musicianship. Nobody can confirm Zappa to have been autistic, but his collecting every note of every live performance on tape to the point where an entire room of his house is lined wall to wall with tapes will make you wonder. Varg Vikerenes is more like a retarded Tony Soprano.
Wow, that Varg guy is even flimsier than I thought. So much that now I have a hard time believing he had anything to do with the Burzum recordings. Thanks for taking the time to upload and share your thoughts on it! Cheers from California
I think he has never let go, he had no remorse because in his mind he had the right to do it. He just cant get what he has done. And now he lives of it. Sad bit true.
Varg and Gylve did have a nice relationship. Maybe not so close but respectful from what I understand. Varg said he thought Fenriz was the only one around Helvete with any intelligence. And I get the sense that Gylve respected some aspects of Varg's personality.
@@seanpennhauer9133 No, but that statement combined with Euronymous' use of chunks of Dead's skull for gifts or jewellery and Euronymous' propensity to talk shit means there is a bit of a pattern here. Probably lots of people who knew Euronymous wanted to at least use him as a punching bag.
Varg isn't dumb, he's a narcissist. Anyways, concerning Euronymous, he says in some writings about how weak, pathetic and incompetent he was, and talked about how he even had to drive Euro around to do errands...as well as how much of a liar he was. So yeah, no one really feared Euro. Imo he took him out to advance his name in order to spread his music and create lore, which worked. Varg (and Euro who alluded to similar iirc) had basically stated back then that receiving a short jail sentence for their antics would be worth the promotion. I think Varg believed he would receive at worst a minimal sentence of like 5 yrs for manslaughter and banked on being found not guilty on grounds of self defense. Euro was basically a sacrifice. Yet i will say, even though Euro seemed to be a weakling nerd with a big mouth who wasn't necessarily capable of kidnapping someone and doing what was claimed, i am pretty sure he would've still become involved (if not already, and as some have suggested) in some extra repulsive behavior. He wasn't exactly a respectable person even by the values of many of his own peers in the region. He was considered a "degenerate" if you will. I can appreciate his contribution to that era of fresh music, but i don't think i would've wanted to hang out with him as a legit friend. Some of the stuff going on in those circles was nerdy larp but they were also infact burning loads of churches down so Euro wasn't exactly unwilling to go to extremes or involve himself even if he didn't light the match. I can maybe see him doing something low effort like poisoning someone, but that's just guessing and according to various others in those circles he was all talk. Some notable people from that scene had no issue with Euro being put down and Necrobutcher himself even stated that he wanted to do it, esp for exploiting his friend Dead the way he did. There's far more to say, but i will keep it somewhat short by pointing out the fact that not only did Varg "muting" Euro advance his own name, music and legend, but it also helped do the same for the whole scene in general. Euro played his part collecting Deads skull pieces and taking a photo of him which wound up on the Dawn of the Blackhearts album. Between that and the church stuff, the death of Euro was pretty much the icing on the cake. Without that part of the story that period wouldn't have been quite so propelled and have had such a mythical element through the years. It makes me wonder if some of the other guys from back then see it like that as well, almost glad it happened perhaps even if they don't say it publicly. Though that lore was more thick until Varg got on Twitter, heh. It's still there but the meme factor has also blended with it all. Also add to that what Hendrik and Faust did. I'm sure there's other stories if you dig but the Varg/Euro stuff stood out the most. Varg was ofc wrong about ideas of serving little to no jail time but in the end he made it out in his mid 30's, has like 7 or 8 kids now, lives in rural France with a good wife, is very well known and influential in metal and beyond, he enjoys himself and has also kept the lore and meme alive as well as his music. (Just an fyi, Varg had wrote some songs for Darkthrone's Transylvanian Hunger and Panzerfaust both released after the incident)
There is one thing that debunks Varg's story - if that was self defense in a spark of moment then why did he build himself an alibi? That makes only sense if he planed to kill him from beginning. Im a Burzum and Mayhem fan but Varg is such a pathological liar that gets lost in his stories. One of Hades members that took place in that "event" debunks Varg's story in details!
Also, why would he drive halfway across the country to deliver paperwork to him? I mean, his best friend was a postal worker, so it's not like he somehow didn't know about the mail, lol.
I saw an interview with Varg saying that Fenriz never snitched on anyone after he read the court documents. It would make sense that there are no bad feelings when someone didn’t stab you in the back or talked shit about you.
Varg's a good musician, and Burzum's black metal with ambient music is nice. His mentality is just...bizarre from being political to overly being obsessed in hating Euronymous by just talking about him constantly.
Because ABITNS was released before Burzum and Fenriz stood by him during the trial, he even used Varg's lyrics on half of the songs on TH to support him in 1994, hence the edgy Norsk Arisk Black Metal on the sleeve
@@MVSICAPROANIMA After the killings they drove back to Bergen immediately so that the alibi might work. But Fenriz was pretty paranoid back then and didn't leave the house for weeks and had a weapon because he didn't know who committed the murder. That's what Fenriz has said and he is at least credible unlike Varg
Emperor and Enslaved dedicated their debut albums to the memory of Euronymous. Obviously Varg would not let that go without getting a cheap shot at each one of the bands. Dude is genuinely disturbing. I think he has chronic inferiority complexes, and identity problems. He fits the profile, according to Psychiatry studies on negative character and behaviour. Looking at the future, I wonder how Varg's children will turn out as adults.
I remember reading about how he said he never liked Venom, and when he wore a Venom shirt he hadn’t even heard them, but wore it just because it said “Black Metal”. Whether what he claimed is true or not, I find it hilarious either way. What can I say? He’s a very talented musician but he has an extreme hatred for logic.
During my teens I would read his blog. He would often state his sources, and with time I got around to read them. The sources stayed the same but he would rewrite his posts yearly. He is a wordsmith that can twist pretty much anything to support his views. I also noticed that through the years Varg increased the amounts of stabs when he retold the incident. I might look at the book if the library has it...
The bitter irony of it all is that Varg, although a dangerous individual, has turned himself into a living meme, while his killing Euronymous is precisely what made Euro an immortal legend.
as far as i know, and anyone else thats into BM, nobody knows who the fuck euronymous is, musically, when people think BM its Burzum or DarkThrone, the people that know euronymous know him as a fat communist gay coward that was a mothers boy.
I’ve read them and they’re a good read. He’s made one about his childhood (he lived in Iraq briefly and talks about how he got his famous scar) and another about his time in prison (lots of funny anecdotes). From this book in the video one of my favourite lines was concerning snorre (blackthorn) “he was allergic to everything including the sun” lololol
I wrote to Varg (would sign off Kristian or Count Grishnackh) for a while at the tail end of his time in Old Funeral/formation of Burzum. I bought the Old Funeral EP from him and some bits and pieces. He told me that he no longer was a member of Old Funeral, as they were a bunch of maggot poseurs (edited as was against YT guidelines, but it rhymes with maggot) . Kind of got fed up with the constant negativity, so stopped writing. I knew Lee Barrett of Candlelight Records pretty well, and Burzum was in negotiations for a record deal. Before the news broke of Euronymous's murder, Varg phoned Lee that morning and was laughing telling Lee that Euronymous was dead, with details.
This is a pretty nice topic, and thank you for taking the time to share some of your thoughts about Varg's book. I think, in fact I strongly believe, Varg has identity issues... there is so many contradictions in his actions, and statements that it only makes sense he was(still is maybe) trying to find where he belongs, who he is. Good video.
Around 10:30 you mention him being developmentally slow and that couldn’t be more wrong, he was evaluated several times and reported as very intellectual and possessed a high IQ, but he did not feel remorse and other standard emotions that a Christian legal system regarded as “normal”. Anyways, I’m on the third one in his series, the childhood one was really good, definitely a page turner. First book was awesome though, it’s truly insane how fucked the police handled everything. Famously one of the lead investigators was fired for very unethical and illegal tactics to get people to rat on people, often lying just to get it over with Once you get over how poorly translated it was it honestly felt more like a conversation between him and I. I enjoyed it more once I got over that aspect.

Say whatever you want about Varg, he started a whole new sub-genre of black metal, and his music is some of the most beautiful and unique out of all the 2nd wave bands. "Filosofem" and "Umskiptar" are some of the best albums ever released in metal.
This guy has to make click-bait videos about Varg to pay the bills and would never admit that he likes Burzum. He is the reason that black metal became what is is today. Burzum will always be my favorite black metal band.
Funny thing, only Varg's fanboys say he created a sub genre but no band ever claims to take inspiration from Burzum except for some NSBM garbage bands. Lol You won't fool anyone by repeating this myth all the time, it's 2024 and pretty much nobody within the scene respects Varg, and much to his chagrin, everyone respects Euronymous so I guess Varg still can't understand how respect is conquered.
@@containternet9290 The "scene" from the 90's in norway doesn't even exist anymore. Fenriz has openly praised Varg for his early albums and even if no one wants to be associated with Varg now, it's pretty much common knowledge from all the old-school guys that Burzum had a huge influence in black metal and set the path for the down-tempo depressive strain of black metal. Everyone tries so hard to undermine this, which is strange, because "Filosofem" is probably one of the most iconic black metal albums to ever be released and most BM bands praise it, and yet all these young politically correct metal guys now try so hard to pass over and not even mention Burzum, because it's trendy and its what has stuck from mainstream channels.
@@ancestrosdelsol9494 You're just repeating the same myth again. I want you to prove Varg and Burzum is really influential so you tell me 3 great musicians or bands that take inspiration from Varg(musically speaking) and Burzum? I want members of these bands mentioning it in their albums or interviews. Reality is, virtually no band covers Burzum's songs, Varg never received tribute albums from the big bands, so how come can Burzum be that influential if nobody ever remembers its existence? Now, except for some NSBM garbage bands Burzum and Varg influenced almost nobody and the old-school guys you mentioned actually sidelined Varg after he murdered Euronymous in 1993, I would even say Varg would be dead today if lived in Norway or Sweden after he was released from jail, let's not forget that bands like Marduk, Dissection, Abruptum and others regarded him as a traitor and even death threatened him in the mid 90's. Now, black metal bands always mention Venom, Bathory, Mayhem and Darkthrone's influence in interviews, Euronymous, Quorthon and Jon Nodtveidt are always regarded as the kings of extreme metal, yet Varg's name never comes up unless Euronymous' murder is brought up. Varg and his fanboys try hard to make Burzum relevant after all these decades because Varg is most known for murdering Euronymous and for the arsons, he's more famous for being a criminal(and now a crackpot conspiracy theorist) than a musician and that's a very bad reputation one can uphold as an adult.
I had no interest to give this book a try, simply because I pretty much knew what to expect, complaining and calling out other people, and I am not surprised. He was a great musician, no one can deny the fact, but the only good thing this book does is just giving a nice insight into why you should always "separate the art from the artist". Enough said...
Varg has changed his opinions quite a lot, I read once a statement by him saying that it was actually pretty cool that bands take his music as an influence and that they could in some way resemble it, I guess this was after he thought the other bands were copycats.
When people were inspired by the style rather than him, specifically, he became upset. That's why he's saying people copied him instead of the style he was part of being emulated. Notice it's always got to be about him.
To state the bloody obvious. In varg’s case it’s easy to talk sh#t about someone when they’re no longer around to defend themselves… ( Reign In Pandemonium Euronymous ) …… ⚛️☮️🌏
Fenriz and varg were very close friends. Fenriz has said as much on several occasions but he also says they drifted apart over interests. With varg going more into politics and ideology and fenriz going deeper into music. Fenriz said he sent varg some music while he was in prison but it wasn't really what he was looking for and that's really were it ended.
Man.... I do not like it that everyone who discusses this topic that they do not agree with him blabla. Always in the beginning of videos you will hear it
I dont believe he was just driving from Bergen to Oslo just for a contract and not seeing Euronymous anymore, he went there, with a knife, with the intention to kill, that guy is a murderer and stills brags about it, he's a 19 yo old violent kid inside a 50+ man's body Musically, I'd say some songs are pretty good, and some albums are really bad
Also read this book. I read Lords of Chaos alongside it too and Varg contradicts himself a lot concerning his political views. In Lords of Chaos, his mother was interviewed and was asked about how Varg got his political beliefs. She said she had no clue but in Vargs book he directly says he got his views from his mother and father. Varg also talked about when he first got into interrogation he did a Nazi solute but then later says the court and press murdered his character and made him look bad for no reason. Those were just some thoughts i had about it. Overall it was a really unprofessional book and i was actually annoyed reading it. Varg has a victim complex throughout the entire thing and is too delusional to take accountability for anything he did. I did enjoy when he wrote about music but thats about it.

I think the reason he called out Emperor and Enslaved for being copycats are probably because the demo's of those bands are not too far from the Burzum demos & debut album. I completely agree that already about the time both bands released their debut albums they had found their own style within the genre and are imo 2 of the best bm bands ever - just below Burzum ofcourse.
How can someone not like Fenriz? Dude is a riot and genuine. If you think Vargs hatred for Euronymous is bad, Jim Cornettes hatred for Vince Russo is worse.
Funny how he called Enslaved a copycat band when i once recall hearing from him on his old RUclips channel saying he liked them. Said it was a compliment that they "took inspiration" from him.
I read all of the books, very interesting, people will always have different opinions of Varg, for me Burzum is the best of Black metal musically..Det som en gang var is one of my favourite songs of any genre,genius..Anyway,heading to Beyond the gates next month in Bergen, cant wait🙂
Euronymous was probably a super annoying guy ready to do whatever gave him media time. Varg was a insecure paranoid megalomaniac and he wanted to use Euronymous and his friends. Black metal didn't age well to be honest. Looking back, it's all BS. Great music expression, but the market built around it ruined it forever.
That bit where you said maybe he sleeps with a picture of Euronymous was hilarious. And I've always loved Darkthrone's Blaze...but wasn't Soulside more DM? I don't know, Varg is the dungeon master that makes things up as the party goes along.
Emperor didn't have it's own style? What the fuck was Varg on, chocolate milk? Emperor is just one of the most unique sounding bands which came from the whole early 90's black metal scene :D
Someone should dare Varg to go for an entire year without talking about, referencing, or thinking about Euronymous. Like, I get it, they weren't exactly rosy. Hell, apparantly Euronymous didn't have too many allies back then. But come on, man. The hate boner is a bit too much.
It’s obvious that Varg had a big man crush on Euronymous and when things soured and the bromance never really materialized, Varg was scorned and bitter. Varg’s way too fixated on Euronymous for this just to be a simple business and/or artistic beef. That shit was personal. And that’s why he’s still obsessed with him, to this day - THIRTY YEARS later.

@@sirslaughter2092 It could be because it's incredibly difficult not to do that. At worst, Varg is a vile murderer who has spent 30+ years trying to defend murder, while also trying to retain an alibi that's wonky on the best of days. At best, he's just a super corny edgelord, a bitter old man whose best character quality is being more pretentious than a French novelist. Watching a Varg video becomes unbearable after a couple of minutes, and reading statements from him is equally cringe inducing. Bottom line, Varg is borderline impossible to like, and given how desperately he tries to remain relavant, he'll continue to get clowned on. Also, a side note: seeing as we're talking about a murderer and self-proclaimed ethnonationalist, saying ''not everyone shares the same values and morals'' is walking in very suspect territory.

It somehow makes sense that vikernes would say that, why?because he was a politics guy, exactly like euronymous.

Just a small detail that is overlooked but also very important to know that it wasn’t just because of what “mummy said” 😂
Keeping a store that is that specialised afloat long-term is also not very easy, and Euronymous lacked the insight to be a good businessman.

Really refreshing point of view!
Could be both
There is one thing that debunks Varg's story - if that was self defense in a spark of moment then why did he build himself an alibi? That makes only sense if he planed to kill him from beginning. Im a Burzum and Mayhem fan but Varg is such a pathological liar that gets lost in his stories. One of Hades members that took place in that "event" debunks Varg's story in details!

as far as i know, and anyone else thats into BM, nobody knows who the fuck euronymous is, musically, when people think BM its Burzum or DarkThrone, the people that know euronymous know him as a fat communist gay coward that was a mothers boy.
I’m never going to bother reading them so how did he get the scar?
He got it from a Skiing accident when he was a child
Yes there’s 5. Black metal story, childhood story, prison story, burzum story, and survival story.
I just want to know how he feels about Kanye West wearing his shirt lol.
Are you for real?

I'm pretty sure he made a shirt with Kanye wearing his shirt on it 😂
A valid question

I think Varg remembers that so well because he told it many times to police and has to keep this story same, or police will start ask questions.
2:28 That's Euronymous.
Fenriz knows about the little hats and their shenanigans, Varg knows this also
Oh man, an interview with Abbath would be awesome....or a drunken mess.....either one would be entertaining. "SATAN!"
Drunk Abbath and serious Gaahl together.
That would be the interview of the century.

Good video.
I was going to buy this book, but then I remembered someone had already written "How To Be A Complete Bitch" in the 1980s.

Famously one of the lead investigators was fired for very unethical and illegal tactics to get people to rat on people, often lying just to get it over with
Once you get over how poorly translated it was it honestly felt more like a conversation between him and I. I enjoyed it more once I got over that aspect.

But did we really get trustworthy documents about his mental health? All I remember seeing and hearing about, was the journalist describing him as very intelligent. Also himself on RUclips reading from his psychiatric documents. Neither really are trustworthy in regard to state that either position is right or wrong. Where did you see the official papers? Or did you witness the trial back then? I’m not saying, that you’re wrong. I’m saying that I do t remember seeing official statements or papers about that that puts someone in the position to say, that Boris is wrong. I’m not saying he’s right either.
For those interested if you look at the chronological order by recording and/or circulation dates before December 31st 1991 and exclude previous past recordings for being too Death Metallish that is what you get:
1990:
-Mayhem - Live in Leipzig - Recording: November 26, 1990 - Circulation: Early 1991 (as a demo live) - Official Release: July 1, 1993
-Thorns (Snorre Ruch) - Grymyrk - Recording and Circulation (as an instrumental guitar tape) : 1991
1991:
-Darkthrone - Album - A Blaze in the Northern Sky - Recording: August 1991 - Release: February 26, 1992
In the national museum of Norway so there is no doubt, it is the first widely exported BM from Norway. Yeah that's funny when you think about the meaning of the title lol...
-Immortal - EP - ‘Immortal’ - Recording: October 1991 - Release: 1991
-Burzum - "Demo I" Recording late 1991 and Release: 1991 (if someone knows the precise month feel free to tell me)
Subjectively excluded for having too much D.M elements and/or not being recorded before the end of 1991 :
-Early Mayhem, Early Darkthrone, Old Funeral, first Enslaved demo “Nema”, Thou Shalt Suffer, First Immortal demo, Emperor "Wrath of the Tyrants" was recorded in May 1992, Satyricon "All Evil" was recorded in june 1992, amongst others maybe etc... Feel free to add TNBM works that I forgot Pre 1992, I know it is a geeky job and kind of subjective but it's interesting. And at least Snorre gets some recognition, his tape shaped Mayhem, later Satyricon and more bands that I forgot on Moonfog probably...
@@thebravespearman-eg9ji Yap yap yap.
Funny thing, only Varg's fanboys say he created a sub genre but no band ever claims to take inspiration from Burzum except for some NSBM garbage bands. Lol
You won't fool anyone by repeating this myth all the time, it's 2024 and pretty much nobody within the scene respects Varg, and much to his chagrin, everyone respects Euronymous so I guess Varg still can't understand how respect is conquered.
This book is for Varg Vikernes, I think.
Yeah, Varg is an egomaniac and a liar
To state the bloody obvious. In varg’s case it’s easy to talk sh#t about someone when they’re no longer around to defend themselves… ( Reign In Pandemonium Euronymous ) …… ⚛️☮️🌏
Fenriz and varg were very close friends.
Fenriz has said as much on several occasions but he also says they drifted apart over interests. With varg going more into politics and ideology and fenriz going deeper into music.
Fenriz said he sent varg some music while he was in prison but it wasn't really what he was looking for and that's really were it ended.

You are in danger Boris, Varg will hunt you🤣

Funny how he called Enslaved a copycat band when i once recall hearing from him on his old RUclips channel saying he liked them. Said it was a compliment that they "took inspiration" from him.

Thanks for the video! This made me go and buying all his books on Amazon. Highly recommend to all!
100k subs! You're obviously doing something right.
liked this review!! interesting indeed -
Someone should dare Varg to go for an entire year without talking about, referencing, or thinking about Euronymous.
@@michbyeuronymous' name was actually Yourinmyass, it's what he said when varg was making sweet love to him, he changed it to make it sound more evil

To add, Varg hates Emperor because Samoth and Faust testified against him. and yes, enslaved literally sounds like burzum xd
Enslaved sounds like Burzum? 😂
Which albums?
Enslaved sounds like Burzum? What an offense. Enslaved is like, unimaginably better than Burzum, I mean, in all aspects.
To be fair a lot of bands sound like Burzum, everybody copies his style. It's like how so many rappers copy one another. No originality today everything's watered down

I treat Varg Vikernes like Chris Benoit. Two murderers who don't deserve respect, but their art is too good to overlook. I can happily watch Chris Benoit matches and listen to Burzum albums without thinking of the individuals that brutally murdered people they were once on good terms with. @@JacobMosegris Chris Benoit murdered his wife and child before he killed himself. He was one of my favourite wrestlers when I was growing up as a fan of wrestling from 2000-07. Varg Vikernes murdered his former bandmate. I love the music of Burzum and Mayhem.

If anyone has a right to claim the term 'black metal' it and always be Venom...wether anyone likes it or not. They are the ones who came up first with that expression and with the idea that metal had to become darker. The music though still had to be refined.
