I grew up in the diverse and beautiful country of America, this literally started 4 years ago. I'm 26. So yeah, what have we "always known"? Polls only test people who are out and about, many are on or around college campuses, go figure. You are absolutely correct Van. It is hurtful for anyone who was hoping that Trump was an aberration rather than a genuine personification of American ‘character’. For Canadians like me this isn’t an election it’s a referendum on who America really is. It took me a long time to understand that there is a HUGE gap between how Americans like to project themselves and who they really are. Despite the talk, there are millions of Americans who really truly couldn’t care less about the dignity/equality of women or of minorities or of the gay community. There are millions of Americans who couldn’t care less if Trump made his money by taking advantages that they are blocked from. They couldn’t care less about his lies or horrible mishandling of situations like the Corona virus or the racial riots or of the child separation issue at the southern border.
I know that there are millions of Americans who don’t subscribe to this Trumpian point of view but there are far too many that do.
You’ve been telling us who you really are for a long time now America. I, for one, am finally ready to believe you.
I'm not American, and I haven't set foot in America before I feel this same hurt deeply, I feel this is like a reveal of America's true character. I feel there's so many Americans who would call countries in Africa Sh*thole and not even be remorseful, I feel there's so many Americans who have no desire for race equality, I feel there's so much hate in America and it's in the people and Trump is only a reflection but it's been the people all along. That's why they're no honest with the pollsters. 😢
Most of us don't feel that way...even a lot of the Trump supporters. They weighed out which evil is greater given biased or incorrect information and then supported a selfish orange candidate with a child's brain because they were afraid of something worse, justified or not. There ARE, however, a small but not insignificant number of people who grab their tiki torches and Call of Duty cosplay to impose intolerance and hatred on others. Keep an eye on those "stable geniuses".
Let's be really honest. It's not just Americans that have the attitude about some African and other Countries being shitholes. The difference is they don't say it too loud. Even in Canada where I live, that is the sentiment of some our denizens.
Americans think mass killing of other nations people is good if it helps their way of life. And allows them to live in luxury while others starve.

I care about what this 2020 election says about what a large group of us, Americans think. I don't need the polls to see it. The election, including the down ballot elections, speak clearly enough. You'd like to think it's, over all, a small percentage of Americans that harbor those feelings. It's not most of us, but it's pretty darn close. It is a larger amount of us than we'd like to admit. I agree. Trump should not be declaring victory when votes are still being counted. Nit to mention the 300,000 ballots still lost in the USPS system even though the DC judge ordered Dejoy to make sure they were delivered.
Every state has closely guarded autonomy rights and this is good except when it comes to federal elections. States can change federal election rules if they want and allow late voting past the deadline, mail in ballots, not impose need for signatures to match, not allow anyone close enough to witness the processing and counting of ballots. How can any election be honest if this is the case?
One way to fix this problem is to make only one exception to every state with their autonomy rights and that is when if come to a federal elections. Any state that wants to change federal election rules should need to do it through a Federal court else, separate from the country. Better that than fraud, dishonesty, and the possible destruction of the country.
However, none of the states would allow or agree to such a thing, therefore, any and all federal elections can possibly be fraudulent, dishonest, have long and costly court battles and still give the wrong person charge of the country. MAJOR flaw with the U.S. election system. It happened in the 2000 election with George Bush with the Florida counts and now it's happening with the swing states.

I voted Trump this time because of the help he gave kids at the border - exec order to verify parents and keep families together - closing of the catch&rerelease stopped children from being trafficked.
