Replacing RDX Air Bags, Headliner and Finishing Up the Interior + Wheel Alignment

- In this video I will be finishing up the interior by replacing blown airbags and a torn headliner. Also the airbag module will be getting reprogrammed to get rid of the air bag light. And since there was suspension damage I will perform a front wheel alignment. And that is it, this project is officially finished. Stay tuned for next project !
Another nice car saved from the junk yard. It was interesting to see the SRS module re-programmed. Looking forward to your next project.
About to start a new project, that will also need an SRS module reset. I'll do a more in-depth start to finish video of the reset procedure. It should be interesting :)
@@fix206 Yes! Please do!
Man you do everything on your own. Even reprogramming the module. I didn’t think you could do that unless you had factory software. man you surprise me every time.
I normally do everything myself, the only thing I think I'll stay away from doing is upholstery. It's an art form that takes a long time to perfect, and I just don't care to learn it LOL
Hi learned a lot from you. I have aligned a few salvage cars myself and used this method. WORKS WELL. On alignment of toe, I find a flat level concrete surface (SMOOTH). Lay down 10 layers of wax paper on top of each other. 1 foot square. Roll vehicle on top of the layers..... and then use the bunji cords for frictionless tie rod adjustment! I use very small bunji cord around wheels and hook on body. Able to set rear toe as well. I got cord from Amazon ( on a roll 100 ft) with coat hanger hooks tied at each end, so I can reuse and save in plastic bag for next vehicle. Note the very thin cord is better( no sagging).
Another thing I've used in the past instead of wax paper is 2 flat pieces of sheet metal 1 square foot in size each, lay down one over the other and driver onto it. Frictionless tie rod adjustment! I guess it's all about how creative one wants to get :) Cheers!
WOW!!!! Amazing alignment technique with the fishing line!!
Thanks man, last time I've been to an alignment shop was about 10 years ago, that was before I leaned this technic. I probably did this home alignment on 100 cars by now, and it works great every time. And the money I've saved on it over the years I'm sure can pay for a nice family vacation :)))

About to post a vid about doing her again :)
Another good vid, keep em coming!!!
Thanks man !
Great video. Very informative
Glad you liked it ! Cheers Horace !!
Makes me want to hit a pothole just to do an alignment!
You're funny Richard... Don't do nothing irrational now 😊
@@fix206 You need to stop making this stuff look so easy! LOL...thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
it is time you started working inside instead of having to work in the rain. Good job on the car.
I'm actually looking to to either rent a shop building or move altogether to a place with a shop. It rains a lot in Seattle, and that's the biggest reason why I'm not uploading more often. I just don't have enough of dry days to do a good load of work/filming done, so I just stay cooped up in the house while it rains :(
Great video, im working on the same project for 14 RDX. where did you get your headliner from? And how did yo get the airbag to reprogram?
I did that rebuild a few years ago, to be honest I don't remember where I got the replacement headliner from. There is a guy in my area that reprograms the SRS modules. I usually take my modules to him
Hey there awesome work, do you mind me asking where did you get the air bag replacements from ?
Usually I'd call my local junk yards first and check the availability and I also check Ebay
Excellent brother ✌😎
Thanks man !!!
@@fix206 keep smashing them out brother
Super film 📼. Pozdrawiam.
Dyakou !
Did you have to replace any front crash sensors? Did you have to replace any seatbelts? Thanks for the info!
Normally sensors don't go bad due to an accident unless they were directly impacted and are physically damaged. I think I ended up replacing a driver side seat belt.
If you had to adjust the toe that much, you probably have a bent steering arm on the knuckle or a bent piston on the strut.
Also, you should have checked the caster and camber to verify you don't have a bent strut, knuckle or cradle/lower control arm mounting point.
I'm assuming you did a comparison check to the undamaged side for your ball joint length and rotor to strut angle :)
You can also loosen the lock nut on the strut piston and turn it to see if it's bent. You will see the whole suspension move around if it is.
Either way, I would be shock and very surprised if you don't have more suspension damage that hasn't been discovered yet, especially given the extreme damage to the control arm and the movement of the strut tower.
It probably drives okay though, so why worry about it?...
I've done that video a while back, thinking back I'm pretty sure I replaced a strut that was bent, lower control arm, busted spindle and also an outer tie rod. My wife drives this thing daily. So far so good, no suspension issues, and tread wear on tires seems to be even on both sides
Awesome video man! I really enjoy your channel. Could you do a video on the computer box reset? Not sure what hardware I need to plug it into my computer!
I will be doing a detailed video on that here soon !
Fix206 awesome can’t wait for the upload!
Hi! Did you ever show us how you repair broken headlight tabs to be able to reuse them. I have repaired using metal sifting screen filled with plastic epoxy up against plastic. I would guess I could also use fiberglass resin. What do you use?
Don't recall if I've done the headlight tabs yet, I have shown in one of my videos how to repair automotive plastics with a heat gun. However I recently came across this tool. Think I'll pick one up because it'll make the repairs much stronger. It uses the same principle as the metal screen, but I think this thing will make the repairs easier and less messy and also much quicker. amzn.to/3pljorb
Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to remove the trunk trim would you mind telling me where should i start prying? Thanks!!
First thing is try and locate and remove all of the plastic clips/retainers that hold the the panels in place, after the clips get removed the panels can get easily pulled out
What's the name of the software youbuse for airbag module reset? Where Can I get it?
I made another video specifically dedicated to the airbag module reset process. It should answer most of your questions, here is the link ruclips.net/video/anIYENaHSqo/видео.html
7:48 - i wonder why headlights become foggy?.. i know there's vent hole in the housing of headlight and i think these vent holes become clogged and this problem happens.
The headlights were foggy on the outside, same as the hood, they had some frost on them because it was one chilly morning that I was filming on :)
So, when can I drop off my 61 for a paint job?...
Oh man, I'm scheduled probably a good year out with all of the projects i got here at the house :)
Привет.. это схождение а развал?
Развал как минимум на передних колесах на этой машине не регулируется
Air bag module dies NOT need ‘reprogrammed’. It just needs reset to test/certificate airbags and system.
Using the right terms gets you further...
Module stores crash data after the accident, then original file needs to be cleared of it. So the original dump is being read, then compared against a clean file and then once the crash data gets erased module gets "reprogramed" or "reflashed" with cleared file... Just trying to explain stuff to folks in regular English without getting technical to avoid confusion.
You are not even using the right terms let alone asking other people for right terminology." Check yourself before you wreck yourself"
I didn't ask anyone for right terminology. Just tried to explain in simplest terms so regular folks would understand. This a RUclips video that's made for entertainment. I'm pretty sure that people that watch this vid didn't come here to get formal education on this subject. Jeeze
Am I the only one who hates videos where the person only has music playing while the they do whatever, and not describing what they are doing? It would had been a better video to me if you would of described what you were doing step by step.
Taking your advise, new video will be published in just a few hours, I tried to fill most of the "silent" parts of the video with narration instead of just music... Let me know if this one is better then the previous video ... I'm still trying to get this movie making thing down throng trial and error... Thanks in advance... Cheers Dan !!!
@@fix206 the video itself was good. For me, I just want to know what the person is doing. I want them to explain what they are doing in each step. I believe if you did that it would be much better. I'm not saying I'm anyone special, but I really try to make my videos "dummy proof" so that anyone can understand and know what I'm doing. I'm not saying I do a perfect job at tit but I try, and I believe if you do that, it'll go a long way 😁
New video is up, I'd like to get your feedback on it ... ruclips.net/video/anIYENaHSqo/видео.html
@@fix206 Just finished watching your video. I think it was great. You explained as you went and the music that you did have going in the background at times wasn't so loud that it was hard to hear you talking 👍 The only thing I would recommend, unless you have shown it on a different video, is when you take anything off of your car, like the side trim, show/discuss how to take that certain piece off. If I recall without having to look back, when you took the side plastic pillars off, you didn't say how to do it. You just see you doing it in the video. Those are things that help people know what to do. A lot of people are scared to do stuff like that because they are afraid they will brake something unless they know exactly what needs to be done and shown how to do it. Otherwise, the video was great! Good job!
Thanks Dan, I always welcome constructive criticism. Because there's no way for me to know what the audience wants unless audience speaks up :-)
