Acura RDX / Honda CRV Front Strut Replacement - 2007 - 2012

- This video will show you how to replace the front strut on a 2007 (07' - 12') Acura RDX or a 2007 (07' - 11') Honda CRV. Both vehicles share the same suspension strut design therefore making the parts interchangeable. The strut bellows (the boot that protects the strut stem from dirt and moisture) is molded with the upper spring insulator. The old bellows can be cut away from the spring insulator and a generic bellows can be fitted as a replacement. Quality spring compressors with slide off prevention pins can be rented from auto retailers such as Autozone or OReilly's, or purchased for approximately $40 or less. Complete struts (with new springs, mounts, bellows and insulators) are still expensive relative to the price of a bare strut which is why we choose to perform a parts transfer from the old strut onto the new bare strut.

Thanks for the video. I see why folks purchase complete struts.
Yup. Take some work transferring the other strut parts.
I should start by saying I love your videos....you have helped me a ton:)
When I did my Camry struts, I took off the top bolts after breaking the lower 2 free. Then I held the strut and removed it without any strange gymnastics lol:)
Glad it worked out for you!
High quality tutoriak. Thank you
Thanks!
Hey! Awesome content man! Do you recall how tight the center top strut nut has to be when torquing down? Looking to do this soon on 13 RDX..
Also what brand shocks were these? Thank you!
Thanks! I've been happy with the brand FCS. With the top strut shaft nut, just torque it down with a 1/2" socket wrench. Doesn't have to be super tight.
Good video
Thanks for the visit!
Much easier just replace the whole damn struts assembly More expensive of course but less stress and work. If you don't have all the right tools and know how to get this done safely wouldn't recommend this method.
True but found RDX complete struts to be pricey.
Dangerously mishandling that spring. Always have it on its side, and pointing across your body.
Thanks for sharing but no issues using high quality spring compressors with safety pins.
Hi, thanks. Your videos are awesome. I need some little help, Please where are you based in the US?
In the suburbs east of Memphis, TN.
@@hardlymovingpro Great!, I just sent you an email to HardlyMoving@gmail.com.
You are not supposed to turn the strut shaft when putting on the top coil nut. Only turn the nut. Good pass through set up but only turn open ratchet and not Torx ratchet.
Won't damage the seals.
Holy this is hard I have a feeling it’ll be very similar to Mdx
Believe MDX is easier since it shares the Pilot Chassis.
